Common Questions and Answers about Speech pathology billing

speech

Avatar f tn My son is two and was diagnosed with Epilepsy 2yrs ago.. He has been in a speech program for 8 months through the hospital. Until recently our insurance paid for most of this service, and now they have reversed all the payments for the speech quoteting that it does not qualify as a sickness or illness.....I guess I just wondered if there is anyone else out there who could help me. We are looking at a $12,000 bill if they make us pay. We do not have that kind of money.
Avatar m tn s thyroiditis have tongue issues that has/had an impact on your speech? I have the scalloped appearance to my tongue, a swollen feeling near the back and underneath the tongue which affects my speech. Did the thyroid meds fix the problem and if so, how long did it take?
Avatar n tn My daughter had a procedure done in Boise, Idaho, I have excellent health insurance and the doctor booked the out patient facility for the surgery. The hospital is now billing me for the operating room twice. I contacted my insurance company and they have requested the medical reports for this second charge and have never been sent any. My letters from my insurance company state this is a duplicate charge and tell me to ignore it.
Avatar f tn Medicare is my primary and medicaid is my secondary. My doctor only takes Medicaid but had tried billing both and neither is paying. I thought I had this fixed 5 months ago and today my doc says that nothing has been paid and I might have to find a different doctor. I'm almost 33 weeks and needless to say that scares me having to maybe find a different doc.
Avatar n tn Dear Jerry1997, You might have figured out that the fact that both plans consider themselves your primary doesn’t work in your favor; it just means that they will not coordinate benefits. In cases where a person is lucky enough to have 2 types of coverage, the best thing to do is to find out which plan covers a particular service at a higher level & use the insurance with higher coverage.
Avatar f tn So, around this time last year I experienced tingling in my left hand that lasted for a few days, coupled with extreme fatigue. Days later, I developed nystagmus only upon waking that lasted for about 10 minutes or so. That eventually went away after about a month. About six months later I had a severe headache that migrated to my right eye and lasted for over a week. Went to an optometrist, no optic neuritis.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've just had a home visit from an OT, PT and an OT student. My home was assessed and the only thing I need to do is have an antislip treatment applied to the bathroom floor. I have also been advised to get a personal monitored alarm wrist watch type thing for if I need help and I was also assessed for my motorized wheel chair. What I'm upset about is that they all found that I'm having problems with swallowing and that I need a speech therapy assessment..
Avatar f tn Pathology report shows infiltrating mammary carcinoma, no special type, low combined histologic grade, Low proliferative rate with apocrine cytology, measuring at least 6MM in greatest extent (best measrued on P63 IHC Slide) Calponin and P63 show absence of myoepithelial cells int he neoplastic tubules, consistent with an invasive interpretation. Immunohistochemical studies for estrogen receptor and progesteron receptor are negative. My questions: No special type? What does that mean?
Avatar f tn You can still request that your slides be read by another Pathology Lab. If you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist I suggest that you do so and this might help clear things up for you. I'm sure you are more than aggravated at how things have gone in the past. I'm not sure why the ADH wouldn't show up on Excisional Biopsy unless the area was so small that it was removed by the previous needle procedure/ OR/ the Excisional Biopsy did not include the area of ADH.
Avatar f tn t seen that as a test for dysphagia in any MS forum. It seems more relevant to get a barium swallow or speech pathology assessment. I've had so many tests lately, and spent so much time at the clinic, that I'd like to avoid this if it's not necessary. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn You can do medical billing specialist..
Avatar n tn Please consult doctor or get the X ray cervical spine done to rule out cervical pathology. Avoid thick pillows too and also get your blood pressure checked.
228686 tn?1211554707 Dear Savas, The hospital where you had your treatment should have your Anesthesiologist’s name & contact information. If they can just provide you with his full name, you can use a search engine like Google & find his contact information.
Avatar f tn Dear Joacs456 (using your nickname) Really very sorry to hear that. From your question it appears as though there is a pathology in brain--like aneurysm, hematoma etc due to injury. I am sure MRI must have been done after and before surgery. What do the reports say? Have you consulted a senior neurologist? A more detailed information about medical reports and Neurologist's opinion will be very helpful.
Avatar f tn No I just called the billing company and gave my medicaid id
12584065 tn?1436320514 I was looking into medical billing and coding but idk how easy it will be to get a job working from home right away? I want to be sure that I study something that I will be able to find work at home with. Anyone done this and found work from home?
Avatar m tn My other symptoms, which began to appear in 2003, include hand tremors, poor balance and co-ordination, dizziness, fatigue, pain in my legs when walking anything more than 50 yards, short-term memory loss, slurred speech, poor articulation (which comes and goes) and sensitivity to my head and arms. I had a single MRI scan earlier this year; the results of which were inconclusive and while the neurologist refuses to rule out the possibilty of MS, I am left completely in the dark.
Avatar f tn I have been to a psychiatrist and I can not understand how he is billing me. The codes he gives in the invoice are 99214 and 90838. I looked them up and the second codes says 60 mins of psychotherapy. However I never see him for that long. He is always late and today I saw him for probably 30 mins. Has anyone else had this problem? And how can he charge me for more time?
Avatar n tn I was at Cedars Sinai before and although I liked the dr, the billing department was a total and complete disaster. They charged me $3000 for a cash package and then turned around and billed my insurance company (which paid--we have yet to be reimbursed from Cedars). Almost every time I went in the billing got messed up.
Avatar n tn It's expensive! That is all you need to know. You will need insurance.
Avatar f tn Limited to medically-necessary part-time or intermittent skilled nursing care, or physical therapy, speech-language pathology, or a continuing need for occupational therapy. A doctor must order your care, and a Medicare-certified home health agency must provide it. Home health services may also include medical social services, part-time or intermittent home health aide services, durable medical equipment (see page 30), and medical supplies for use at home.
12584065 tn?1436320514 I went to school for billing and coding got my CPB and once I found out I was expecting I went from working in an office to just working from home with my hour and my days. It's a lovely thing.
Avatar f tn I believe the 242.90 nos is a icd9 diagnosis code used for hospital billing referring to hyperthyroidism. Nos means not otherwise specified. The tsh would most likely be very low for hyperthyroidism along with elevated free t4. You need a copy of your labs for sure. I know it is a hassle to obtain but well worth it.
