193609 tn?1292180293 Anyways, this ENT was the second doctor that told us Ashtyn needs speech therapy immediatly. He sent a referral to one of the best speech pathologists in the state.....and they called me back and told me my insurance does not cover ANY speech therapy and that he will need to get speech therapy through the local school district. My son is part of Early ON of Michigan and has other therapists through the ISD, and is waiting on an eval from a speech therapist there.
Avatar f tn t hurt to have her checked out by a speech teacher or even check out some Apraxia websites. Good luck!
Avatar f tn , a big part of the question they had was about delayed speech) and I found a website (below) at the National Institutes of Health that has a section on typical speech and language development. It includes checklists that help you determine if your child is “on track” with communication development as well as definitions and some explanations of potential speech and language developmental problems and what to do about them.
Avatar n tn What are some websites that I can look on to see natural baby births ? I have 14 weeks until it's my time and I'm trying to see what I'll have to deal with .

Avatar f tn ve been reading online in multiple websites that by her age she should be able to use whole sentences...but she only says single words, some times just a couple of them. It's not like she's quiet, she "talks" all the time is just that I don't understand what she is saying. This being said, I have to add that while I speak to her in english (and sometimes in spanish) , her father speaks to her in his language and we live in an asian country, so in total its 4 languages.
Avatar f tn It seemed to loosen up my speech a little. then on the way home there were times when my speech seemed a little crazy. I just found out from my boyfriend that he thinks I have sleep apnea also, but apparently this has happened on and off for two years and I have always snored so I assume that this would not be another sign of MND. It is just so scary.
404138 tn?1308941656 My mom suffers night and day with chronic neck and shoulder pain that is unmanageable and severe, she also has head tremors, bad balance, slurred speech, mini-strokes/dizzy spells- where her eyes roll to the back of her head, she loses all control of her muscles and if she is able to hold on to something she sways back and forth, otherwise she falls. She also has a hard time writing and eating, she tends to miss her mouth, so she holds the fork with both hands.
Avatar f tn m a 43 yr old woman with a small cavernous hemangioma in my brain that sometimes causes seizures. The exact location of the tumor is located in the speech center of my brain on the left side. When I'm about to have a seizure I've noticed that I lose my ability to talk correctly. In the last month I've had 2 seizures but I've noticed that I'm having difficulty talking a great deal.
Avatar f tn Btw, getting a birth to three person can help with speech. He should qualify for speech therapy which does not mean he has autism.

427258 tn?1266445242 Sorry this is OT, but I wanted to let every one know who has been following/wondering how my son's evaluations were going that today he met with yet ANOTHER occupational, speech and behavioral therapist(s). After those he then met with PA's top Pediatric Neurologist and she determined that Nathan does in fact have Asperger's Syndrome as well as OCD. His intellect and speech were way beyond his age.

Avatar n tn You know, most reliable websites say RNA test is very accurate. I think people would like to trust the websites more than your personal opinions. Just google RNA test, there is a lot of results against to your speech. I am not a professional, all my speech is just refer to websites' information. Seems that most your opinoins are opposite than the websites such as the window period of RNA. If you are not a professional, please use reference to support your speech.
Avatar f tn One of our twin girls, 10years has had expressive language difficulties, has since she started to talk, we did speech therapy for 6years. plus we do extra tutoring, our daughter continues to make progress ,our daughter wants to learn, doesn’t give up, . Our daughter with learning difficulties is very visual, learns visually. I am very interest in homeopathy to see if it can help our daughter with her learning issues, it’s the parents that must fight on for them..
Avatar n tn If your child’s doctor believes further assessment in necessary, then I recommend that you find an assessment team familiar with young children and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). A speech and language pathologist should be a member of the team given your description of the communication problems. (I am not a speech and language pathologist, but 3 or 4 word phrases for a 2-1/2-year-old doesn’t sound all that atypical to me.
Avatar m tn hi, I have had speech problems for over a year but have had dental work over the same time. I thought the speech problem was dental related. I'm still waiting for my final implants. I went to my doctor to see if I had a problem with my throat. Since then I've had 2 MRI test 2 nerve conduction test 1 swallowing test all blood work done, urine test done all test come back good... So my neurologist say clinically I'm fine but because of my speech problem I have ALS.
Avatar n tn My 9 month old son was saying "mama" and "dada" at 6-7 months and seemed to be progressing normally. He now no longer will say "mama" or "dada" and seems to do more incoherent babbling. He has yet to learn clapping or engage in peek-a-boo. I also see he like to slap his hand on a hard surface in front of him, like a table or his high chair tray.
5549102 tn?1376522673 Yes, I've read that. I think that a mother should always keep their eye on things. Speech in the early years is tricky though. Many speech pathologists don't evaluate until a child is three unless they have eating issues. I would consider a half day one time per week preschool for him though. Gives a really good perspective and an extra set of eyes from the valuable insight of a person that sees lots of kids. My son did preschool at age 2.
Avatar m tn For the past 6-9 months, he has been chewing on his clothing, and bedding at night and his blanket at daycare. He is delayed in his speech and sees a speech therapist 3 times a week. He soaks his clothing on a dailt basis and makes holes in them from his teeth. He wont stop. what does it mean and how do I get him to stop?
