With the referal with the doctor, you can see other specialist for child development and also, you should ask public school system give your son an evaluation too. If there is nothing wrong, halilua! If there is something wrong, early intervention will be very benifiical for the child. Good luck!
You should obtain a formal evaluation by a child development pediatrician or by a child psychologist/psychiatrist. He might have ADD/ADHD but that does not explain is lack of speech. If he has ADD, medication for ADD might help him so that he can focus to learn language and social skills. Most doctors and most people do not believe in giving ADD medication to a child as young as yours. But at the end of the day, the decision to medicate him is between you and your specialist doctor.
If he has typical speech development then that would usually rule out autism, but might mean Aspergers. But those with Aspergers although their speech is considered 'normal' may still have problems processing language, or may have literal interpretation of language. They can sometimes have a strange tone of voice or emphasis the wrong part of words, or they may have an accent.
This means that there is delayed development of insulating substance over the nerve fibres with decrease in volume and minute abnormal signals which could represent small areas of cellular proliferation or normal spaces around blood vessels. It is advised to correlate the study with a clinical evaluation. This is best discussed with your treating neurologist.

Experts usually state that Asperger's children talk early and well but are not social with other kids like their peers. I am not an expert but if he is not talking at 3, he probably does not have Asperger syndrom. He might have something else in the PDD spectrum. Asperger's children are like "little professors" when they speak. They do speak well but are not social. They also have extreme interests in certain topics or things. They will, for example, love trains.
Thank you for your suggestion. My family and I met with a development specialist today. He indicated my son does demonstrate behaviors that are on the autism/PDD spectrum; however, he did indicate that my son also exhibits behaviors that are atypical for autistic children, such as his interest in other children. He has diagnosed him with a language delay until our MRI next week.
m not sure where your from so its probably called something different but there should be programs where you are that helps with children speech development they came to your house they will observe your child and then set up appointments depending on how much and what kind of help she needs they come to your home for the appointments so the child is comfortable there is usually no charge depending on your insurance and they will be able to tell you if she needs testing for autism and where you

Now, in spite of that, this child may display some delay in his language development. An evaluation by a Speech/Language professional is in order.

It is interesting that the 2 are similar in those 2 specific areas but 2 yrs. apart. Does the younger one look up to the older one? What concerns me is that at their age, the language skills are behind. My oldest was like that also, but she was diagnosed at 6 yrs. old. She had someone to work with her on language development.
Social skills is a red flag for being on the spectrum. Do they interact with each other and/or others in school/home?
He needs an evaluation by a Speech Patholigy expert. It is better to take care of these issues when they are young. Speech is something that every human being needs and it is harder to acquire as the child gets older. At the age of two, he should be saying more than mom. Maybe he is using so much energy getting used to each side of the family every six months that he has no time to learn to talk!!!
the devopment doctor is saying she has a speech imparment a development delay which cases her problems to learn she has a torce foot and goes to susan at midlands orthapedic for that and sees dr johnson for the development delay but he has not yet spoke to me as her violent behavior in school and at home and she sees a speech theripist and ot'pt at school and she was just tested for a mri of the brain and that came back normal at palmetto health childrens hospital i just dnt know wat to do f
Hi Rayyu. I am not a specialist but parent of a child with mild ASD in question - possibility of a mood disorder/ADHD combination. My son makes good eye-contact, communicates failry well, follows instructions very well, friendly with everybody in general, akward with peers, lot better with older and younger children. Most think he is "shy".
