Avatar f tn What are you trying to accomplish? Normally protein drinks are a supplement and not made to be "meal replacement". I'm no dietician but typically protein drinks don't have a bunch of nutrients.

Avatar f tn As to the above, good advice, but again, I'd avoid the dairy options for the reasons stated. As to the arsenic, lead and mercury, you don't know if the peanut butter or any other food you're using has it, either -- after all, these things are in the environment so they're in the water and soil. If you buy organic it's about the best you can do.

I have tried many protein bars, but all of which contain HIGH ammounts of sugar. so thats out of the question now. Do u know of any meal replacement bars or protein bars, that arent loaded with sugar?
Avatar n tn I used folic acid and black cohosh for my symptoms. I really only had hot flashes and night sweats and using folic acid and black cohosh seemed to lessen the frequency and severity for me. This combination doesn't work for everybody. Check with your doctor before taking these supplements because they can intefer with some prescription medicines...especially for thyroid problems.

If you do have to purchase something in a package, rather than look at the amount of calories or fats - look at the ingredients list, if it contains the words corn, sugar, cane, syrup, maltodextrin, sucralose, artificial, soy, flavorings or any other word that RHYMES with "gross" - avoid it! Start there.

Avatar m tn Ask your health food store for a good meal replacement that is good for digestion. There are many to choose from. Have you been tested for Candida? It can cause some of the symptoms you are having, especially the digestion issues.
Avatar n tn You definitely need fruits and veggies. I was using brown rice too, until I found out about the arsenic in it. This is what I do, super simple and healthy. Smoothie: collard greens, kale ( I recommend washing them then freezing) spinach, carrot, a piece of ginger root, whatever fruit you have on hand, I use frozen because its cheaper and more convenient. Then I put in a scoop of ground flax seed, full of omega 3 fatty acids which are awesome for your heart and ***** the fat out of your body.
Avatar f tn He's 15 mos. and he is allergic to milk protein. He was on soy formula to start now that he eats solids (well sometimes :) he is on the soy next step. We have tried dairy again to see if he'd outgrown it but still got hives etc. I myself couldn't do dairy until I was closer to 3 my mom told me and till this day I can't tolerate lactose.
Avatar n tn Ch4st4r had some good suggestions... also adding protein and healthy fats from olive or coconut oil to each meal will help as well, since protein and fats, won't increase blood glucose levels like simple carbs will. I lost 23 lbs by add more healthful fats to my diet...
