Avatar f tn t do soy protein. Soy has estrogen in it.
Avatar f tn All items were Soy Protein. Is it possible that this can be a cause of my not getting pregnant? I am wondering how true the article was. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Soy has plant estrogens. If your cancer is estrogen sensitive I would be very careful about using any product with "isolated soy protein.
Avatar m tn Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content. I am concerned about this and wish to remove her from soy and try almond milk (she has no tree nut allergies). My concern is almond milk has very little protein. What should I give her to provide her with enough protein that cow's milk has? Do I give her protein pills? Are there any side effects of almond milk?
Avatar m tn m trying to determine cause. I recently read soy protein may cause male breasts to swell. I use it daily in a health drink I mix on my Vitamix. Wonder if soy could be causing the problem. or ????
Avatar f tn t take the sublingual, bioidentical progesterone he prescribed nor should I continue to eat protein bars and other sources of soy protein which provide a natural bioidentical estrogen. She said there is an increased cancer risk associated with both progesterone and estrogen supplementation. Since I have high risk HPV (cancer causing) I should not take these supplements. Does anybody know anything about the increased cancer risk associated with bioidentical hormone enhancement???
587083 tn?1327120262 With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause. After my diagnosis of breast cancer (estrogen positive) my oncologist recommended I avoid soy products because even the weak phytoestrogens may stimulate cancer cells. Research is not conclusive but better to be safe. As the addage goes, 'all things in moderation.
Avatar n tn Yeah, I think a vegan/vegetarian might have a harder time with conception, but mostly because they don't get protein from meat. There are many women who are lactose intolerant and drink soy milk on a daily basis- and I don't think they're all infertile or have a harder time conceiving. I wouldn't worry about it! I love me some chocolate soy milk or iced soy lattes and I've been pregnant 5 times. There was a time when I drank soy milk a ton, as a teenager, because I loved it.
Avatar m tn Kinda new to this PVC - Bigeminy "fun". Trip to the ER, wore a heart rate monitor for 2 months, visit with a cardologist. Pretty much was told what you all are saying...nothing to worry about. But they sure can last for hours and make me feel terrible. This past month I did pretty good. Very few. Feeling better, I went back to my routine where I have a soymilk protein shake for breakfast. 3 days into it, my bigeminy returned.
Avatar m tn soy milk (for protein), soy yogurt, soy butter, soy based protein bars, soy based cereal, etc. Well, she had been off of soy for a few weeks, and she got down to 93 pounds. Well, just recently started taking her vitamins that her doctor suggested due to abnornal blood work. Last week is when she lost the weight, and this past week, she has gained 6 pounds. Low and behold, the CoQ10 has soy in it! She also has very coarse hair and acne on her forehead which she never had before.
Avatar f tn Common Western foods and beverages are fermented, such as The soy used in our country, however, is primarily non-fermented soy in the form of soy-protein isolate and soy milk. It is the non-fermented form of soy that is causing so many of the problems with soy foods. The soy industry would have you believe that Asians eat lots of soy. Since Asians suffer less chronic illness than most Western people, then soy must be a healthy food. How much soy do Asians actually eat?
418700 tn?1212682049 in addition to all the nutrients and protein, soy contains a natural chemical that mimics estrogen, the female hormone. Some studies in animals show that this chemical can alter sexual development. And in fact, 2 glasses of soy milk/day, over the course of one month, contain enough of the chemical to change the timing of a woman’s menstrual cycle.
Avatar f tn As for Soy, Asians eat a lot of soy in their diet, Soy formula is a good choice for infants, Soy-containing foods help prevent osteoporosis, Soy is a healthy food for adults, Soy helps improve libido in men. The above about Soy is false. Those who eat large amounts of soy, especially non-fermented soy, have severe hormonal imbalances that are very difficult or impossible to correct without eliminating or drastically reducing soy in the diet. i have seen soy as an ingredient added to tea bags!
209987 tn?1451935465 Think of all the products made with soy eaten by those in the Far East -- their main cooking oil is soy oil, their staple protein is tofu, their main seasonings are miso and soy sauce and natto (these are fermented), they use soy fiber (okara) in cooking -- they're practically made of soy beans and they don't have any of these problems.
216278 tn?1308861082 Well, both of those pieces of advice are good news. I just started Dr. Rx'd DHEA (pure) and I went to the store today and got Soy Protein drink mix. I don't think that I want to take any more pills than I already do! I am just so sad. Some months are just much harder than others!
Avatar m tn re already dealing with thryoid issues, as the estrogen levels are still affected by the thryoid and vice versa, whether male or female. It is estrogen in particular that soy affects in a huge way. Dr. Mercola explains more thoroughly and better than I can even begin to repeat why the traditionally fermented soy products are the only soy products that are even safe to consume.
5079976 tn?1380275206 Protein comes from soy (tofu), beans, raw nuts, iron from dark leafy greens, like spinach.
1039061 tn?1257878294 In women, Soy also mimics estrogen. So if you indulge in a soy filled meal, and then dont for a few days, the body can see this as estrogen fluctuations. Being a guy, I have no experience with this but have read it quite a few times in different places. One thing that is for sure: All hormones play tug of war with each other, so its best to keep them as balanced as possible. I think the difference is between fermented soy and um-fermented soy. - something for you to goggle.
Avatar f tn Sure I understand that, Genistein (an isoflavone of soy) is considered a 'weak' estrogen and it's assumed that's why it's important in cancer treatment. For instance, on ER (Estrogen Receptors) it will 'bind' to them instead of allowing more, stronger, human estrogren from binding to it...thus reducing the effect of estrogen on the cancer and stopping it's use of estrogen as a 'power' source.

Avatar n tn I had an estrogen positive cancer and am conservative with phytoestrogens like soy. Here is some info you may find interesting, from Wikipedia: Phytoestrogens, sometimes called "dietary estrogens", are a diverse group of naturally occurring non steroidal plant compounds that, because of their structural similarity with estradiol, have the ability to cause estrogenic or/and antiestrogenic effects.
Avatar f tn You may want to have your Estrogen levels checked. Soy products cause excessive estrogen production which causes fibroids to grow. I did not know this and before I had my Hysterectomy I was drinking a lot of protein shakes that contained Soy. If only I would have done more research before making such a permanent life altering decision. I would not be suffering from the horrible side effects such as loss of sexual desire and chronic neuropathic pain.
Avatar f tn The last thing you need is the added estrogen load. Many vegetarians who have consumed large amounts of soy have ended up with having such a severe body response to the overload that they have ended up being allergic to multiple foods, including the other legumes which have none of these phytoestrogen effects. So, they clearly could no longer be able to continue to be vegetarian because of this, since there was no way for them to get sufficient protein to be healthy.
