Avatar n tn Some children will accept whole milk if you add chocolate or strawberry flavor mix to it. If that does not work and she likes soy milk, then give her soy milk (has the same amount of calcium as in regular milk). Hoped this helped you.
377296 tn?1281095438 The problem though is that most of the soy products on US shelves are the nonformented variety- Tofu, Edamame, Soy flour, Soy Protein Isolate, Soy Milk, Soy Lecithin, Vegetable Oil (with soy). These nonformented products contain high levels of toxins which are the subject of controversy b/c of the studies showing they can cause cancer, diminish thyroid function, cause hormone imbalances, and on and on. For me, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Avatar n tn I would advise you to stay away from the soy milk. Soy is a well-known allergen, and it's NOT health food. http://search.mercola.com/Results.aspx?q=soy&k=soy In fact, soy is downright dangerous. I don't think it's a good idea to give babies and small children soy milk, especially if they already have these allergies you're talking about. The other information about what amounts to vegan recipes is a great idea.
87651 tn?1259602403 As you become balanced and all hormones are working together with your meds - you should limit soy comsumption. I love soy milk - I hate milk. But I limit my soy alot. I drink it in my coffee and that's about it. I would definately not do the slim fast thing. Way too many chemicals in there and could cause problems. Very commonly GI issues creep up drinking this for thyroid patients as well as others.
Avatar f tn I did a little research on Coconut milk simply because I have to stay away from saturated fats such that cow milk has. Turns out Coconut milk is a wonder drug for those that live in an area where saturated fats are nearly non-existent but has far more saturated fat than cows milk. I love coconut candy, cakes, and such which is what started the research. Turns out that Almound milk is one of the best milks out there for health issues.
Avatar n tn There are other alternatives other than regular dairy milk-there is the soy, rice, and almond milk. I would ask your doctor about using these instead. I also would not give her peanut butter yet this is a common allergy food. hope this is helpful (by the way lactose intolernace is not an allergy and a different test would need to be done to determine that.
Avatar f tn soy milk, soy hot dogs, soy meats, soy energy bars, as well as many other food sources. Most of these “Western” food sources contain soyprotein isolate, which is a highly processed, devitalized, and toxic food source that needs to be avoided. 1276890 tn?1271027818 Suggest you take a daily multi-vitamin and increase calcium consummation (soy milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, leafy green vegetables) for stronger bones. It is important to eat the right combination of foods so you have the proper proteins and nutrients for your body too.
Avatar m tn I'm not a fan of soy milk either. Long list of potential imbalances and hormonal effects. I'm also not a big fan of drinking milk anyway (I prefer getting my dairy through yogurt, kefir, cheese, etc) and for drinking I prefer water (for cold) and tea or espresso (for hot). And I enjoy my one glass of red wine for dinner. I also eat full fat dairy, use cream and butter and ghee in my food, opting always for grass fed free range, to get very high quality macro and micronutrients.
Avatar n tn Here is some info on soy as related to one part of the risk-benefit puzzle, breast cancer: "Breast cancer recurrence and overall mortality are lower among women who eat soy foods after their initial diagnosis, JAMA reports. Avatar f tn ll read information that says that people should also avoid unfermented soy products. This would include soy milk, since it's not fermented. Use Dr. Mercola's search engine and just type in the key words about soy and you will be taken to a page of archived articles. This will explain what I'm talking about. My own IBS swings the other direction, but I also have GERD and soy products and anything with sulfites in it irritates my GERD.

Avatar n tn Suggest making ‘milkshakes’ out of soy ice cream and soy milk blended together or soy smoothies (soy yogurt, soy milk and frozen fruit). All soy products are milk free because they come from plant and not animal source, however, he will get additional calories and protein for weight gain. Avatar n tn Hello, The views to this question whether your son who is allergic to milk can take soy milk are different. Milk substitutes including soy based formula, hypoallergenic formulas based on partially or extensively hydrolyzed protein (such as nutramigen, alimentum, and pregestemil) or free amino acids (such as neocate)can be taken in a person who is allergic to milk..
Avatar n tn Yeah, I think a vegan/vegetarian might have a harder time with conception, but mostly because they don't get protein from meat. There are many women who are lactose intolerant and drink soy milk on a daily basis- and I don't think they're all infertile or have a harder time conceiving. I wouldn't worry about it! I love me some chocolate soy milk or iced soy lattes and I've been pregnant 5 times. There was a time when I drank soy milk a ton, as a teenager, because I loved it.

140029 tn?1393298142 I just left a message with my allergist asking for a food elimination diet. I 99% sure i'm soy intolerant and suspect corn but I can't find the problem holding me up...(I know there's an allergy section but this one is more active). Hopefully my allergist will respond but sometimes only $$$ motivates doctors (office visit is like $200+ and i'm unemployed with this problem) does anyone know any good elimination diets? I did one but never knew about white potatoes for example..
Avatar f tn I'm 23 weeks and 2 days. I love soy milk and was just wondering if it was OK to drink?
Avatar f tn s Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet. All legumes have positive qualities, are good sources of protein and fiber. And remember, all soy milk isn't created equally.
Avatar f tn But, I ate soy meat and drank soy milk. These raise you estrogen. Also I drank bottled water in plastic.
