140029 tn?1393298142 I just left a message with my allergist asking for a food elimination diet. I 99% sure i'm soy intolerant and suspect corn but I can't find the problem holding me up...(I know there's an allergy section but this one is more active). Hopefully my allergist will respond but sometimes only $$$ motivates doctors (office visit is like $200+ and i'm unemployed with this problem) does anyone know any good elimination diets? I did one but never knew about white potatoes for example..
Avatar f tn s Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet. All legumes have positive qualities, are good sources of protein and fiber. And remember, all soy milk isn't created equally.
526889 tn?1212540641 pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal). To help eat less food pre meal, eat about 7-10 almonds (good fat), 20 minutes before lunch and dinner so you will feel full faster and not eat as much food.
Avatar f tn 1. Can I consume soy products? Is it suggested to consume soy products thrice every week. (I'm not sure about this. Somewhere I have read that soy has protein and for PCOS one should combine carbohydrate with protein, so it is good to have soy products. I have also read soy has phytoestrogen (estrogenic activity) so it will add to the already elevated levels of estrogen in the body of a PCOS sufferer, so it should be avoided.
443898 tn?1229700080 He is a big milk drinker and I would like to know if anyone can recommend an alternative to milk or soy. I have heard of rice milk and potato milk, but am uncertain as to where these milk alternatives can be found. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi, We just discovered our 8 week old has a milk allergy including soy. We are giving him Allimentum as his new formula but I'm torn about breastfeeding anymore. I wanted to breastfeed for the antibodies but now I wonder. 1. he got severe RSV at 6 weeks old and stayed in the hospital 6 days. 2. now this allergy. For me it makes me wonder what is the benefit of breastmilk and the antibodies if these things happened? Now with the milk allergy, I LOVE dairy.
1026267 tn?1257591273 m not familiar with the low iodine diet, but I eat a non-inflammatory diet which recommends coconut milk. The only downside I know of is, coconut milk is packaged in cans, and most cans these days have been proven to contain/leach biosphenol-a. I have a recipe for coconut milk though, which is easier than almond milk.. (although I do make fresh almond milk every 2-3 days) 1 cup dried unsweetened coconut (Bobs Red Mill is one) 4 cups warm pure water Soak for 15 minutes.

520369 tn?1212971265 You are young and exercising would help you lose weight and lower your appetite. Recommend eating 5-6 small meals a day. That would consist of small breakfast, lunch, dinner, and healthy snacks between. Example: Breakfast would be a bowl of cereal / low fat milk with a banana and then the between snack could be a yogurt with ¼ cup of nuts. The food you eat needs to come from all the food groups. This would help lower your hunger.

1464587 tn?1307491605 It seems to me from what I've read that most LLMD's are suggesting gluten free diets. I myself have been gluten free for nearly a year (I've cheated a couple of times for a piece of cheesecake), but for the most part, I'm pretty good. An added bonus is that you tend to eat much healthier when going gluten free which of course, is a good thing. I also try to stay diary free but am not as strict with that.
Avatar n tn Some children will accept whole milk if you add chocolate or strawberry flavor mix to it. If that does not work and she likes soy milk, then give her soy milk (has the same amount of calcium as in regular milk). Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn You get protein from plant sources, such as soy milk, rice milk, soy yogurt, soy cheese, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. As a vegan you need to combine grains and nuts / seeds for essential protein have to be used daily such as rice and beans, pasta and beans, nuts to oatmeal, peanut butter and bread, and salad and nuts. You can also eat the soy and rice products mention above. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals.
Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.
317245 tn?1258737545 The pediatrician said it could be a form of a milk allergy and to put him on soy milk. He has been on soy milk for a month now and the rash is gone but his stools are still horribly loose. In order to keep the stools from being completely liquid we have to feed him the BRATTY diet, and this only gets the stool to a "sludge" consistency not even anything remotely formed. He probably has 4 or 5 dirty diapers a day. I also give him a daily dose of probiotics.
Avatar m tn You are correct when you stated that you are underweight for your height. Being underweight, you have to gain weight slowly. Suggest you eat 3 meals a day and try to eat a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs, gain weight slowly, and help with possibly preventing future disease states.
Avatar n tn I guess I should also mention this is not a complete diet profile for me, but a rather brief overview. I have also been consuming fortified soy-milk every evening. And I have also been out to dinner a few times during the week/weekend for some variety.
Avatar n tn As far as his allergy to dairy, the substitutes for dairy products are soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. Soy products (which has no dairy, all plant) and he will be getting all the nutrients he would have gotten from milk. Hoped this helped you.

Well, just recently started taking her vitamins that her doctor suggested due to abnornal blood work. Last week is when she lost the weight, and this past week, she has gained 6 pounds. Low and behold, the CoQ10 has soy in it! She also has very coarse hair and acne on her forehead which she never had before.
