Avatar n tn Am on the south beach diet and am type 2 diabetic. My glucose reading is 87 which is low for me. Am feeling very shaky and weak. Ok to have something with sugar and not ruin my efforts?
Avatar f tn Are you doing South Beach Diet or something? I would say back off and try a general low cal. diet like Weight Watchers instead of something as drastic as SB. Try to eat a balanced diet every day.
676032 tn?1315674063 Take a peek at the Zone diet and South Beach plan - this may help you with weight issues if that is what you are asking about. What way do you mean "help" with hypothyroidism?
1299272 tn?1312476830 I'm trying to lose a little bit of weight and I want to follow a proper diet. I hear that it's best not to eat after 7:00 pm if you're trying to lose weight. But I'm not sure if that's true. I'm looking for tips on foods I should'nt eat and and foods that I should eat. Does anyone have any helpful tips?
Tbd you must not eat low fat foods - eat regular fat foods, use butter, oil reasonably in cooking, choose fatty meat cuts, avocado, etc).
Avatar f tn my gi doctor told me i must lose 30 lbs due to fatty liver can u give me the diet food list that are good for my liver i am genotype 1 stage 3 fioboiss
325405 tn?1262290178 My doctor recommended South Beach diet and thinks with diabetes it is an excellent diet to pick since it focuses on carbs and lean meats and watching fats as well as carbs. I think I will skip the phase I of the South Beach diet... my blood sugar levels were going too low when I tried it the first day. So, I am starting on Phase II instead, and my sugar levels are normal now.
Avatar f tn I agree with StephRox13 of the food you eat. Also go for organics foods if you can because lately our foods are loaded with hormones and causes us to be off balanced with our hormones. I realized that when I saw the doc DVD of "Food Inc." If you need sweets try liquid Stevia drops or packets. Flavored stevia drops are pretty good like rootbeer or orange. I tried a soda called Zevia rootbeer which was pretty good too.
1097839 tn?1344579942 hi all I decided I wanted to lose weight at Christmas. I've been ill with an underactive thyroid and put on about 20 pounds over the last 12 months. I hadn't really noticed it creeping on till christmas because I'd been so ill I was just in a bit of a daze! But since then I've been really paying attention to what I eat and willing the scales to go in the other direction but without much success yet. At least I seem to have stopped gaining.
Avatar f tn Some people really do lose *while eating nutrisystem food*, mainly because the portions are so small and I've heard some of the food is horrible and many can't bring themselves to even eat it. The biggest problem is that when you stop purchasing their food, you will gain all of your weight back. I've lost 38 lbs. by low carbing, I started with South Beach and tweaked my diet for my own needs. I don't eat all the grain that SB allows.
Avatar f tn Depending on a patient’s particular profile, I suggest either the Dean Ornish heart-reversal diet or the South Beach Diet. If you know anything about heart disease, the Ornish diet is better because it most effectively cleanses the system of excess fat.The South Beach Diet is usually for those with risk factors but no known heart disease. This diet allows more latitude and can still get a person to the recommended targets.
Avatar m tn Lots of opinions ("professional" and other) re diet/nutrition. What is working for me now, is a "South Beach/Zone" type of diet which is basically lean meat/fish and vegetables. Almost no starch (bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, etc) and very little fruit -- maybe one portion three times a week. With this diet -- and copious amounts of exercise -- Ive lost ten pounds, brought my cholesterol down from 200 to 150 and normalized my bp from pre-hypertensive.

1466015 tn?1286304436 My stomach is shrinking and so is my desire to eat foods. The south beach diet will help you drop lots of weight fast and is not that hard to stay on. The smoothie is just plain easy and I have no clue why its working. Either way, you will lose weight if you try one of these approaches. The south beach diet can also be used if your cooking for your kids and husband. They may not like it that much, but the meals are heathy and you can add a bit more for them if it is needed.
484844 tn?1253968693 ve been on the South Beach diet before. I liked the emphasis on good fats, but found the 1st 2 weeks, where your carb intake is so severely restricted, to be beyond what I wanted to do. I've heard its supposed to be very good for people with insulin resistance, but I couldn't stay on it long enough to gain any real results. I did lose weight, but regained it pretty quickly when I couldn't make it into a life long change.

Avatar f tn Yes. Exercise doesn't generally help people lose weight unless you start running - but exercise DOES help you stay motivated to stick with your diet and turn down the donuts, etc. Any diet will work if you can stick with it. Many people find that a low-carb diet helps to reduce hunger (Atkins Diet). The "South Beach Diet" is a little more flexible but also seems to be very effective.

Avatar f tn Try to eat healthy foods, it is a great lifestyle choice. If I could go back to my teenage years I would make a choice to stay on the South Beach Diet for life. Don't think of it as a diet, it really is just making more balanced healthy nutrition choices. I was 5'4 5'5 in high school and 130 pounds. 150 by the time I graduated college. 170 being married for a few years. 200 after kids and am now a very unhealthy 220. Over your lifetime your weight can creep up on you.
Avatar n tn Not to mention that whole grains and certain starchy foods are GOOD for you and are important for a balanced diet. There are certain programs that I think are healthier approaches to losing weight such as Weight Watchers and The South Beach program.
Avatar n tn My endo has recommended that I go on the South Beach Diet but finally my blood sugars are under control. I am taking this very serious now and hope to be taken off at least two of my meds in the future. All the same complications associated with Type 1 are the same for Type 2. Blindness, Kidney failure, Amputation and heart disease. Please get educated and take care of yourself. Im cheering for you.
362249 tn?1441315018 Hi All, I just started seeing a very well known eastern medicine doc in LA; they suggested (and others on this forum have suggested) reading "The Tao of Infertility" by Daoshing Ni and "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. I ordered both from Amazon; The Tao book came in a few days ago and I've already read it!
