Avatar f tn It started with a broken tooth that got sore, then the gums, then my cheeks and tongue swelled up nd inside of mt lips, I developed a white sore on the end of my tongue and it split open from top to underneath. Really bad headaches nd now my throat is sore and my lungs are tight. I gargle and brush with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, which keeps it somewhat under control. What do you thinK? O, and I am extremely fatigued. I almost forgot to mention that I have red spots on my palate.
Avatar m tn Hello~It sounds to me like you have a severe Vitamin B deficiency, this will cause the tongue to look red and be sore, I know, it has happened to me. I suggested taking a good, high potency B vitamin, add to it, extra B-12 and B-1. Also, add some brewers yeast to your diet, this is chock full of B vitamins as well. I like to put a teaspoon on my cottage cheese or pop corn, it tastes yummy on pop corn actually. Give this a try, it should get better in a few weeks to a month.

The edges of my tongue felt bumpy (not tiny little spots, just an irregular surface). I had a difficult time eating breakfast due to the soreness. I took an antihistamine, but I don't know if it helped or not. I also have some mild tenderness & swelling just under the left side of my chin; however, it is more noticeable to the touch rather than by observation.

Avatar m tn It feels like something is stuck under/behind my tongue but its the bump. I also have a canker sore that I can see on my right tonsil. I'm not sure if the bump and canker sore on my tonsil are related or not. I also started getting an earache in my right ear about 2 days ago. The right side of my jaw has a slight pain too. I plan on going to the doctors on Monday if I'm still in pain. Could the bump and canker sore be from the Halls cough drops?
Avatar f tn Hair fall, split nails and sore tongue can be due to iron deficiency anemia, pernicious anemia and other B-vitamin deficiencies. Hence taking only folinic acid will not help. You must get your blood tested for iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiency. Depending on the test results you have to start appropriate supplements. You can discuss with your treating doctor. My tongue symptoms could be geographic tongue but would this cause other mouth symptoms? and is it just coincidence it happened at time of tonsillitis. Im really at a loss as to what it could be? Any ideas? My dr. doesnt seem to be concerned but its bothering me!

Avatar f tn t laugh, if you do not get enough of the B vitamins, one of the symptoms is a sore tongue, and if left untreated by not taking them, it can get worse. I would try taking a good, food grade B vitamin complex, also, get some Brewers yeast, it can be obtained at any health food store, this is chock full of all the B vitamins, amino acids and other important nutrients and minerals. It taste good too, I love it on cottage cheese.
Avatar f tn The beefy red swollen tongue is from a major B vitamin deficiency. Use wheat germ you can buy it in a bottle on the cereal shelf and keep it in the refrigerator. Get some supplemental brewers yeast powder at the health food store to up your intake of B vitamins and use B complex temporarily as it is not balanced so you don't want to use it for much over a week.
1763947 tn?1334055319 When I had this I was prescribed nystatin tablets to suck slowly, pressed against the nasty bits. They worked well (despite the vile taste) and apparently they are very light on the liver (unlike diflucan). BTW are you taking a vitamin B complex tablet? You can get sore red things on your tongue from deficiency in some B vitamins. It's one of the nutrient deficiencies v common in Lyme, so that might be worth investigating if these things keep comig back.

Also, in order to assist you better, I would request you to answer the following questions: a. Do you have decreased salivation or eye dryness? b. Have you ever observed blood in stools? c. Have you ever observed purpura over palms and soles?
Avatar n tn Hi, this seems to be glossitis probably due to vitamin B deficiency, try vitamin B supplements for a month or so. Also, get liver function tests to rule out hepatitis etc. “The goal of treatment is to reduce inflammation. Treatment usually does not require hospitalization unless tongue swelling is severe. Good oral hygiene is necessary, including thorough tooth brushing at least twice a day, and flossing at least daily.
