I'm a 39 year old mail don't drink and never smoked for the last 3 weeks I've had this painful small sore under my tongue right at the base in the middle and pain under my chin by my throat and no doctor seems to know what's going on. they look at the sore and say i'm not sure what it is or why your having pain in your neck area let's just keep watching it. any ideas would be helpful.
I had the one under the tongue at the back of throat and thought I had a sore throatuntil others appeared in one cheek area. Used Biotene mouthwash 3-4 times a day and they started to clear up.. Also had lidocaine swish by prescription to paint on before eating. Didn't 'swish' in mouth because didn't want to bite myself with a numb tongue. It takes a few days for them to start to clear.
All my symptoms cleared up for a bit but now my sore throat is back, little white sore bumps on the sides of my tonuge, underneath my tongue is sore. There is also white spots on the back of my throat. It's not strep been tested.
Hi, last night I began having a strange type of pain under my tongue on the right side at the base of the mouth - the pain feels similar to a sore throat, but my throat isn't sore. I don't have a fever or swollen lymph glands. Also the pain hasn't gotten worse. I can only feel the pain if I move the tongue up or if I swallow a large amount of food. My throat doesn't have any swelling or redness or whiteness, my voice is still the same, ears are fine and gums are fine.
Why is my tongue so sore? I have dry mouth from taking prescriptions and my tongue over a period of time has become very sore and sensitive to salt or pepper or spicy food.
The fimbriated fold under my tongue is sore and swollen. It has a little whiteness at the ebd of it also. I was wondering if this is something serious or not.

I took antibiotics for 7 days and didnt help at all. My Lymph Nodes located behind the ears and my throat are so enlarged that they are very sore. My nose is congested and is constantly bleeding. Is anyone having this problem? and is their any releif? Thank you for helping.
I did have cold sores when I was a kid. Oct 26 woke up with a sore throat mild. I still have it. It is not severe. It is almost just a discomfort. I looked at it in the mirror under the light and throat is a little reddish. In one area there seems to be a very small bump no puss or anything. Other than that nothing ubnormal. Gonnerhea urine test on OCT 23 with Nucleic AA was negative. Could this be throat Gonnerhea or HSV 1 or is it just a conincidence normal cold?
It hurts so bad under my tongue that I can't tell if my throat is even hurting now. The under-the-tongue pain is so bad it is kind of eclipsing the whole area. I've checked under my tongue and things look normal. No spots on my throat or tonsils, so I don't think I have strep. My lymph nodes feel swollen also. Other than the fever and stiff neck I had a few days ago, no other symptoms.
WILL NOT GO AWAY, MY tongue IS EVEN MORE sore TODAY AND MY throat ALSO. I LOOKED under MY tongue AND ON. BOTH SIDES. NEAR THE FRONT ARE BUMPS THE SIZE OF LARGE PEAS. SWOLLEN AND VERY sore, ARE THESE LYMPH NODES? SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR?
Hi , Try to see an ENT soon go to ER if possible because their might be many things that can cause a sore throat for so long . I know how it feels when one gets a sore throat i am having since 5 months. And i am fed up taking medicines .! My right tonsil is swollen a bit. And also so many symptoms . All the best to you.
recently i got 2 kanker sores in my mouth and soon afterwards i got a sore under my tongue. I thought it was a kanker sore but now im not so sure. under my tongue i have 2 vien looking things that are... buldged out.. (they dont look like viens.. they looks like buldged lines in my tongue but its all i can think of that they are..) one goes to the right and one to the left.. well...there is a red bump/swelling on the left one.. it sort of swells up n ends in a kind of point..
I also got a strange case of pink eye on the same day that I noticed the fever. The sore throat was not deep in the throat, but more towards the top, around the back of the soft palate, and then a couple of days after, the lymph nodes/salivary glands (I'm not sure which) started to swell under one side of my tongue. This has happened before, but always resolves rather quickly. Now, the throat isn't sore, but the glands/nodes are still swollen and VERY tender to touch.
A blood test reveals that I have HSV-1, but my doctors insist that neither the white gunk on my tongue nor the sore throat has anything to do with oral herpes of any kind.
Lately I have been having some slight pain in my throat and tongue. I was not alarmed by it because I do frequently get colds, and sore throats this time of year. I went to the dentist and he noticed a white spot under my tongue that pretty much went across the whole width of my tongue. He told me to come back in a month, and if neccessary, he would send me to an oral surgeon. What could this be? I am a basically healthy 38 year old woman.
I have a geographic tongue and also, I have had a very sore tongue due to low........ (Well, phooey!!!!!!! I can't remember the name of it) Pregnant women need it so they don't have a baby with spina bifida. I'm sorry, I just can't remember things. You might want to get it checked.
I also have soreness on the back of my tongue, and now a sore throat to accompany it. Depending on how I move my tongue, it sort of hurtsm like there may be a sore of some kind. Is it possible that I am biting it in my sleep?
whether we keep our tongue positioned on the roof of our mouth or if we keep it pressed down on our mouth. The only reason why I noticed is because it feels really uncomfortable and stressed. It does not relax whether I keep it up or down. Aside from that annoyance, my throat is beginning to feel sore above my Adam's apple, my jaw sores as well. The jaw aches give me a headache. It feels like I am swallowing too often, and the root to all of these problems seems to be my tongue.
My main concern is the canker sore on the side of my tongue and the feeling like boogers are in my throat and there are some (causing it a slight difficulty to breath through the mouth). its white like a bump on the side (small). Im scared this may be thrush. I went to a doctor a week ago and i showed him my dry white tongue towards the end and he said its normal and is not by any chance thrush. the sore came later on after the visit.
My mom is undergoing chemo now for stage 2a breast cancer, she had 4 treatments of AC but then was highly allergic to taxol so is now having 4 treatments of taxotere. After her first taxotere friday 6/6 she had a sore tongue Saturday and Sunday developed a white milky tongue with an "iky" taste in her mouth, she waited 4 days and called the doc, they gave her an oral pill to take and it has not seemed to work.
For the past 9 months, every couple of weeks, I get a sore throat & swelling under my tongue. The swelling appears under my tongue towards the back, and mostly on my left side. Also, the insides of my cheeks swell slightly and they make me feel thirsty. After this appears, I can find a white/creamy substance under my tongue. The substance goes away in a day or 2, and I have not taken medication to get rid of it. I have had it tested & it is a 'normal' fungus found in the body.
Many Thanks for all your advice and concern related to some medication in which to ease the symptoms of a Swollen tongue & sore tongue while on treatment for Hepatitis C. It appears i shall ask my hepatologist for "The Magic Mouthwash" also as the burning, stinging sensation can be very irritating, and the colour of the tongue can become very dark at times.Wish i could buy it over the counter so i could get it sooner.
Hi My husband has been sick and so has our baby (4 weeks old) tonight our baby is sticking out his tongue alot and fussy, I believe he has a sore throat. I feel helpless the poor guy has been fussy all day, his congestion hasn't been bad but I fear it is getting worse. Any suggestions?
Hi Welcome to the forum! sore throat with swollen lymph nodes in the neck should be investigated for infectious mononucleosis. In a person infected with infectious mononucleosis the EBV remains dormant in cells in the throat and blood for the rest of the person's life. Periodically, the virus can reactivate without or without symptoms of illness and can be found in the saliva of infected persons.
Hello, I've been having similar issues. sore throat at base of tongue (almost feels like an ulcer on the tongue), scalloped tongue, mild ear pain/itchiness--all this on the left--some hoarseness and coughing. ENT said he saw absolutely nothing upon scoping the throat. No blood work was done. Have a followup in 3 weeks. This is just exhausting to me. I mentioned thyroid at the ENT, nurse said that swelling/symptoms are usually lower, under Adam's apple.
I WOKE UP TWO-THREE DAYS AGO AND MY tongue WAS HURTING NOW, AS WELL AS MY throat. LAST NIGHT I NOTICED THAT under MY tongue ON BOTH SIDES HAVE THESE VERY sore ROUND BUMPS (SIZE OF A LARGE PEA) AND A SMALLER ONE IN MY BOTTOM LIP WHICH I THOUGHT WAS GOING TO BECOME A FEVER BLISTER, SO FAR IT HASN'T. I HAVE ONLY HAD ONE OF THEM IN MY LIFE AND IT WAS 14 YRS AGO. WELL SORRY THIS IS SOO LONG, I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU HAD ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS AND IF YOU HAVE GOT WELL YET?
Hello Doctor, 2 days back I noticed a tingling sensation under my tongue when I felt it on rolling my tongue over the area. Precisely I believe near the openings of the ducts of the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands. A little towards the right. Then today it turned into a white patch/blister with some redness around it. I am concerned that it is herpes. About 2 weeks I had a sexual encounter.
