My doctor just drew blood based on my symptoms but never felt my neck. Is sore throat and neck soreness a symptom of thyroid disorders? Thanks!
What you will experience is pain in the muscles of your neck (the front muscles have to be cut to access the thyroid). It may hurt to lift your head (roll over on your stomach and push yourself off the bed - don't try to just life your head off the pillow) and when turning it side to side (especially when swallowing). This should subside over a few weeks.
For the past few days I have had a nonstop throbbing headache, mostly on my right side from the middle down through my ear through my neck. I also have a sore throat and a stiff neck on the same side of the headache. I have no insurance and last time I went to a clinic it ended up costing me an arm and a leg and I have no money for that right now. Could it be an infection? cancer? strep throat? what's the most logical answer at this point.
This scared me, and since then I normally started checking my nodes. One thing I found strange is that I could feel the ones in the left side of my neck, but not in my right side. The doctor told me that the ones in the left were swollen so he wanted to do more tests. This followed with 4 months of tests - another test every week or 2. I had a lung xray, multiple blood tests, HIV tests, I dont even remember what else, but having tests like that scared me so badly.
My sore muscles are to the touch. Primarily in my neck and shoulders, however there are other sore muscles these are just the worst. This has been going on for at least 3 or 4 years. Tingling in my hands and feet happens many times a day. When I am laying in bed, standing, sitting, working, etc… This has been going on for at least 3 or 4 years. I have recently (in the last year) noticed that I am feeling weaker than I used to. I have also had persistent sore throats.
I have always been an anxiety ridden person, but here recently I have been clenching my teeth a lot more and I think it is causing the back of my tounge and the front parts of my throat to be sore but not like a sick sore really like a muscle strain sore. I carry a lot of anxiety in my neck and shoulders and I do find myself clenching my jaw quite a bit anymore, but I am now thinking that my tounge and throat muscles are now tensing up.
It remains in the wrist and hand joints, also in feet, with the rest of the pain mainly in muscles and tendons of my shoulders, knees and calves. One day my left mandibular joint was so sore I couldn't chew. Another day a molar was in pain and made eating on that side of my mouth impossible. But like most of these pains they migrate in 24 hours and new spot hurts more. I continue to have a dry cough, mild but persistant. Now that I think about it the cough began about 7 weeks ago.
throat sore when swallowing and had fever during the night....don't have insurance...how often should I gargle?
ANETODERMA - looks like this condition has a lot to do with so called SORE THROAT/MOOD VIRUS. Again, nobody knows exactly what is it and what it causes, but dapson ( leprosy medicine) is among the one that helps a lot. I would invite THINKING PROFESSIONAL DOCTORS to continue this conversation. I AM SURE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE CAN GET THEIR LIVES BACK! My thyroid gland swelled up and I would get a sore throat as if muscles were squeezing around my throat. The doctors reduced my dose but the symptoms remained until I totally stopped taking it. If always felt like a muscle was squeezing around my wind pipe. It really hurt. After I have been off of the synthroid and another symptom appeared and lingers. Sometimes when I am sleepling my throat collapses and I wake up choking and gasping for air.
In my case, vertebrae in my neck were constantly irritating nerves in my neck, thus causing the neck nerves and muscles which attach to the scalp to become irritated. Stress can cause this issue due to tightening of neck muscles too but, your MD PC will be able to diagnose this much better than you or I. The MD PC could recommend Chiropractic care to you to help this situation depending on how severe your condition.
The next day I started noticing some neck discomfort, not really a sore throat, but stiffness and soreness in my throat area, when I turn my neck or put my head up or down to my chest. I thought maybe i might have an infection. I went back to my dentist yesterday, and he said he sees no sign of any infectiion, and that everything is healing nicely. I was glad, but am still concerned about the discomfort in my neck and throat area.
i had oral with a girl late november last year. In January i got a sore throat and a swollen gland just under my ear lobe(about 1.5cm) about 3months later i got another sore throat and the gland below my earlobe was still there but they was a new one in my neck, just below my jaw. A few days later a skin infection came out around my lips(not itchy, peeled wen i didnt put cream on it and neva bled).
I don't have pain anywhere else except the freaking throat. I will be visiting an EENT soon! another issue is that my mouth feels extremely dry at nights only and have to wake up several times to hydrate. nothing like this during day time.
Then at the end of May, I caught a sore throat from my girlfriend....the glands in my neck swelled up...I had a cough and runny nose....a couple days later that flu/cold started to subside...but my legs started tingling and I started to get burning around my eyelids...the burning around my eyes left them sore and red...the tingling in my legs turned to burning and weakness and seemed to get more intense by the day....I also got tingling in my cheekbones and the back of my head....

My neck has been sore for about 3 months and the feeling is hard to swallow, when I yawn that hurts and it's not inside the throat area, it seems to be the muscles in the front of my neck. From my jaw down to the collarbone and on both sides in the center. I've had a doctor look at it and said that there was no nodules or goiter and the TSH came back normal. My question is, is could this be the feeling of Hashimoto in progress attacking the thyroid?
My wisdom teeth are impacted, and the dentist couldnt tell me if theres an infection. But i do have a sore throat, and my teeth to start to have pains once in awhile. Earlier on this summer.. i hav bad chest/arm pains, so i went to emergancy. They took my pulse and blood pressure, and also used electro thingies to take a "picture" of my heart. Everything looked fine. The doctor said its probaly a chest mucle. I have a bad back.. atleast i think i do. Its always sore and tight...
Probe all of the muscles of the face, shoulders, and back of the neck. (Avoid the area around the throat.) Press on the muscles to identify extremely painful points. Massage the painful spot with hard, slow, short strokes. Do this several times a day until the muscle is no longer painful when pressed. To massage the masseter muscles on each side of your jaw, place your thumb inside your mouth and squeeze the thick muscle in your cheek (toward the back of your mouth) with your fingers.
I plan to get tested, but appointments for those take over a month to get here, and I could use some tough love or reassurance NOW because when I research these symptoms, everything points to HIV (sore neck, muscles, sores in back of throat with white spots, throwing up and shakes, and everything below as well, though I don't have any rashes to my knowledge or itching anywhere, and I wasn't bedridden with a fever, though I did have one that first day and I think I've had a small one on and off
do you have painful trigger points at the base of your skull on those two boney areas just right at the top of your neck/base of skull? some times you can cause micro tears and pulled muscles in your neck that go deep inside causing such symptoms..
i have been tested 6 years ago via sweat test for cf and i believe the result was negative, can that change over the last month i can not even run 100m without taking 15 minutes to recover because my chest kills me and i cant get any air in, i get tired, sore joints and it is really worrying me. in my recent spirometry tests last week i was sitting at 50% whichc is terrible.
My pain isn't unbearable, as in knife stabbing pain, it is dull, tender on the left thyroid and into my muscles. All my muscles in my throat, chest and back are extremely tight from this pain originating in my throat. I am even in Physical Therapy now because my muscles have become so tight that they burn. It feels like a hunk of glass or rock is burrowing into my left thyroid area. It's pulling and rubbing on muscle and nerves. The pain will even come up under my jaw.
Now that the surgery is over I can say that it wasn't that bad. Right after surgery I had a bad sore throat (lasted a week) due to the breathing tube they used during surgery and also had a drain coming from the incision (drain removed after 3 days), a sore neck, but no pain coming from the incision. I had swelling above the incision and I had difficulty swallowing for a few months which got better and better with time, until the swelling above the incision went down.
