Avatar f tn My husband has GERD and often feels like he has something in his throat, and diffuclty swallowing. The acid may have created a sore spot that has swollen.
Avatar n tn She then put a mask over my nose and mouth. I woke up with the worst sore throat of my life. My throat was blood red and it hurt to talk, cough, breath and swallow. I've had strep throat many times and the pain was nothing like that. I gargled with warm salt water, took throat lozenges, etc. and nothing helped. Woke up the next morning and my sore throat was completely gone but could barely talk and my my jaw was sore and bruised. I still have severe larangitis four days later.
Avatar m tn After a bout of Strep and mono (though I will add that the sore throat was NOT severe in either cases oddly enough, I was swallowing fine and with relatively no pain, just slight irritation), I had noticed my throat seemed very "beat up" per se. Here is a current image of my mouth: http://i27.tinypic.com/2r5wyac.jpg Notice the seemingly cluster of bumps on the back wall, and overall "redness?" It's weird to me since I have absolutely NO pain, discomfort, or anything.
Avatar n tn A couple months ago I noticed pain when swallowing on the right side of my throat. I took a flashlight and saw that my right tonsil was inflamed and covered with white specks. I went to my general physician...she ruled out strep throat. She gave me a 10-day antibiotic...she wasn't quite sure what the problem was. I went through the antibiotic and saw no improvement. That was about a month ago. Recently, it looks as if the left tonsil is also becoming inflamed/swollen.
Avatar f tn I have had difficulty swallowing for about 7 months now, along with thick, stringy, gelatinous clear mucus in my throat and thick green-brown mucus in my sinuses and throat. My nose is very dry and has dry congestion that is hard to remove by blowing.
Avatar m tn Gonorrhea can cause sore throat but most cases are asymptomatic and you have another probable diagnosis (strep throat). It is unlikely you had gonorrhea, but if you did the Zpak will clear it.
Avatar n tn I had LPR, a constant sore throat and globus sensation. I also had trouble swallowing. Food just seemed to stick. The anxiety didn't help any. Just try to calm down and keep taking your meds. I know its eaiser said than done but getting upset will make it so you can't eat at all. I know it happened to me. But, that part of it got bette for me and I was able to eat again in a few months.
Avatar f tn If she is on inhalers for the Asthma, check to see if there is a fungal infection in the throat, this could cause problems with swallowing. Difficulty swallowing can also happen due to iron deficiency anemia causing Plummer-Vinson syndrome, where there changes to the soft lining of the throat. This can be detected by a simple blood test. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi, like your doctor has suggested your symptoms could be due to a throat infection. Throat infections are most probably streptococcal or a viral infections. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Ensure to complete your antibiotic course and do salt water gargles for further relief from your symptoms. Take care. Regards.
890982 tn?1259091185 I have swallowing problems, get food stuck in my throat or partway down, and have a persistent dry cough, and tend to aspirate liquid.
1636921 tn?1300292502 No this is not normal. Before I even knew I had a thyroid issue my throat was extremely sore. I mean to the point where I had difficulties swallowing. That next day I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism----> had the surgery and now I have hypothroidism which still *****! I hope you feel better keep us posted.
Avatar f tn for the past 3 yrs i have had very awful throat problems. it becomes too dry sometimes, i have lost 28 pounds because of the trouble i have eating. i have trouble eating certain foods,(greasy, spicy,) and certain foods give me an itchy throat, such as oatmeal, and bannanas. and mushy foods such as beans and mashed potatoes feel like they get stuck in my throat. i almost always wake up with a sore throat and a bitter taste in the back of my mouth.
678297 tn?1226546462 Do you have any indigestion or heartburn? Any other symptoms going on in your mouth? I had a sore throat for a couple months and a feeling of a lump in my throat with difficulty swallowing. Turned out to be acid reflux. Not sure if that's what you have, but thought I'd mention.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with a large cyst (5cm) on my left lobe and 2 small cyst on right. Both benign. My questions is I have a constant sore throat and pain in neck and also indigestion/ in stomach every time I eat. I am convinced its my thyroid issues. The endo doc decreased my Liothronine from 37.5mgcg to 20mcg because of side effects. The last thing I want is surgery. Do others her experience these stomach pains/nasusea/sore throats.
Avatar f tn m guessing they forced the probe down my throat because I have trouble swallowing even big vitamins (I would sometimes regurgitate on prenatal pills). I'm at my wits' end, anyone go through this? Any advice?
Avatar n tn It feels like I have a lump in my throat right there and when I swallow food it is actually rather sore. It is only one spot in my throat. I am assuming it is my esophagus with the problem since it is worse upon swallowing food. What could be causing this? Should I seek emergency care or can this wait for my Gastro doc on Monday morning?
Avatar f tn I have had a sometimes severe sore throat for over a month. Had a scope put down my throat and the doctor says everything is normal....no growths, nodules, infection, etc. He suggested that maybe I had a virus and to come back in 6 weeks if the pain was still there and then he would repeat the procedure to see if there was a change. The pain does lessen sometimes but then comes back with a vengence. Mostly it is on the right side and, of course, the ears are also involved.
Avatar n tn I can eat and drink still (no blockage) but my throat and chest feel sore especially when swallowing my own saliva. I also have a rash on my stomach, but only this once have I gotten that so that could be something completely seperate, like a bug bite. Does this sound like food allergy symptoms?? If so I'm guessing milk, nuts, or wholewheat. I've only been getting this since I started eating more healthy.
Avatar m tn I have begun to have problems swallowing, sharp pains, it feels like it shoots from my nodule down to my stomach, and if I burp it really hurts! I feel like my body is falling apart.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was wondering if having a mild sore throat lasting 3 days, and then developing nasal congestion, suggestive of ARS. Teh sore thraot was more like a burning sensation in the back of throat, did not hurt when eating or anything, just when swallowing felt a little burning sensation. Please anyone who can clarify this.
1079987 tn?1258040916 I have been wondering for a while but keep forgetting to ask. I know that with chiari some people have problems swallowing. I don't have that issue. But everytime my neck gets extremely bad and I have an awful headache (like today) I get a horrible sore throat. I was just wondering if anyone else expirences this or knows of anyone who has. Thanks, any suggestions on how to make it feel better would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn OK...got past the leg cramos and muscle twitching...now I am having swallowing problems. SO bad that I failed a Gastric Emptying Test and go to see the Doc about that tomorrow. COuld anxiety actually cause the muscles in the esophagus to spasm or quit moving normally?
400099 tn?1282954864 Swallowing problems are very common in MS. I have had them too, off and on. Occasionally, when I'm having this problem during the day, I have had some scary incidences of waking up feeling like I couldn't breathe at night. I'm not sure if there's a connection or not. Have you had this problem before? Did the doctor mention anything about medicines to treat this as well?
