I know sinus problems cause headaches and sore throats...I don't know if they lead to throat infections though.
I have had a sore throat for almost 14 days now, accompanied by infrequent stabbing pain in my jaw. I know that it's not normal to have a sore throat for this long (it's on my right side, same side as jaw pain) and I'm starting to become concerned. I saw a dentist, thinkin that it was tooth related, but the dentist said he could not attribute it to any tooth problems. He took my temp, felt glands, applied pressure to gums. Nothing, but the pain still persists. What could it be ?
I have some soreness on my throat (very minor), pain in my ear, and some pain on my head. Not a headache, but more like sharp 'pin like' ocassional pain. Not overwhelming, just annoying. Sort of a muscular soreness on my jaw. Everything on the same side of my face. I have no other flu symptoms or congestion of any kind. When I breathe, it does feel like air goes though easier on the opposite side of where the pain is.
I have had jaw pain for many days, only on one side, now i have ear and throat pain on the same side, and my jaw hurts so bad, like I had been punched (or so I assume) really har din the jaw. It hurts to eat, and I have pain in my ear and a sore throat.....can anyone give me advise? Bad sinuses? Time to go the Dr?
I saw my doctor, today, and he said my ear looks fine, but my throat looked a little red. It dose hurt more when I chew. I could possible have a sore throat and not really notice it (I take high doses of pain medicines for an unrelated medical disorder), but I am not running a fever. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this, or have any possible insight? The pain is very intense.
My throat hurts and my jaw and neck ache, sore shoulders and back of neck. My throat is really red and veiney and my tonsils. And those veins are going up the roof of my mouth a little bit. There is white bumbs on my throat.
How ever I have had no sore throat and no fever. Now all the glands on both sides of my throat are sore, but not swollen. I have read a lot on swollen glands being an early symptom of hiv, but I am not clear on what sore glands with no sore throat means. None of my lymph glands feel enlarged. Is it possible these symptoms could be ARS? The whole time I figured it was just a bacterial infection that would go away, but it still hurts.
The sore throat is almost like on the esophagus when touched on the outside it hurts. Opening my mouth wide or sneezing or yawning hurts not alot but it hurts. My ears hurt as well.
The odd thing about it though is that my whole throat didn't hurt (technically it wasn't even my throat). The far back roof of my mouth on my right side would hurt every time I swallowed or yawned, but not to chew, move my mouth around, or talk. The next day, it seemed better during the day. I definitely was not in as much pain. However, at night, it came back, and it was worse this time. An area above the back of molar hurt to put pressure on, and every time I swallowed.
I'm also experiencing very restless sleep, and last night I vomited unexpectedly for no apparent reason (stomach wasn't upset at all), but I don't know if those things are related to the sore throat at all. Basically, I feel stupid going to the doctor for a simple sore throat, but its persistence is starting to worry me (it's gotten neither better nor worse since its inception).
Last Saturday, I woke up with a terribale sore throat, kinda scratchy and sore. I also had a headache... The night before I had smoked a cigarette for the first time since last March, I quit smoking in March of 2006. I have allergy problems and since I had quit smoking, I stopped taking my allergy meds everyday or at all sometimes, cause I just don't need them everyday. Well, it's rained a lot and between that and the cigarette I passed those symptoms off as allergy symtoms.
Back on Easter Sunday I woke up with a terrible sore throat. Body aches, fever, chills, followed. I figured it was the flu so ignored it. Three days later, I went to ER because although the other symptoms had disappeared, the throat was worse. I had white patches on the back, throat was red/inflamed. A strep test came back negative, as did the flu. I was given Zpac anyway and three days after zpac was done, sore throat came back. It was only on one side this time, lasted a few days. Went away.
Everything is super connected up there so a sinus infection can make your ears hurt, your jaw, your eyes, your throat, everything! Until you get in to see an ENT or at least your GP, head to the drugstore and get NasaFlow by NeilMed. Outstanding sinus rinse, way better than a NetiPot since you have pressure to clean our your sinuses. It sounds gross and feels a little strange but is so relieving of sinus and throat pain. Plus it can't hurt you if that's not the trouble. good luck!
i have a small lump on my jaw which is not painful but it came out just 2 days back and just had some bleeding through it. my throat is hurting and lower side of my jaw (above the neck) is also painful.
Hi Welcome to the forum! Sore throat with swollen lymph nodes in the neck should be investigated for infectious mononucleosis. In a person infected with infectious mononucleosis the EBV remains dormant in cells in the throat and blood for the rest of the person's life. Periodically, the virus can reactivate without or without symptoms of illness and can be found in the saliva of infected persons.
It is accompanied with a mild sore throat and slightly swollen tonsils. Before any pain began I had about 3 weeks of a mild cough, that is almost nonexistent now. The symptoms are: * Painful and some swelling joints, both sides of the body: neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, some finger, hips, knees, ankles and big toes * Morning pain, sometimes cannot raise one or both arms to brush hair, etc.
Except my neutrophils were near the upper cut-off and and my lymphocytes were near the lower cutoff I was told its a Viral throat infection and my neck must have been strained from the sugery thats the reason i have neck pain, arm and chest pain He precribed me some Anti-depressants I still had the sore throat and swollen and painful lymph nodes along with other muscle pain, and i went to a another diognostic centre and gave an elisa test on march 15th 2010,it was negative(13 weeks after my lat

Certainly could be an infection...Regardless, not likely to be adequately diagnosed here. You need to be evaluated by a doctor!
They weren't hard, but were very tender. The sore throat wasn't terrible, but it was bad. It didn't hurt when I wasn't using my throat, mostly when I swallowed. It was a sharp pain and a feeling as if something were in my throat. The sides of my throat under my jaw felt tight and constricting. The saliva glands under my tongue were also sore. A few days into the sore throat I developed a small rash on my right arm on the inside of the elbow.
I have had a Sore Throat for 5 weeks now.the Tonsils and back of throat are really sore!! Dr seems to think its nothing to worry about. Also my arms feel really week.Has anyone else suffered with a sore throat for this long??
I have been getting jaw pain over a few months, twice when I've felt a massive "click" and it hurt, and this morning it felt locked and has been sore since. My ears have also felt blocked. Anyone have any ideas? Don't really want to go to drs if I don't have to.
Can jaw pain and constant sore throat be a symptom of Fibromyalgia / CFS. I was diagnosed with CFS a few years ago and had glandular fever when I was 19 (am 48 now) but have had bouts of feeling flu like and general fatigue over the years. I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
Its lower on my neck/throat. It doesn't feel like a sore throat or a pulled muscle. When I touch the area it hurts more. Also, It hurts more when I swallow, yawn or cry. I think it is where my lymph node is located. It's only on the left side. A few hours ago I started having severe, constant pain in my jaw/teeth. Also, on the left side. I don't know if it is related. Any ideas on what's going on? Should I see a doctor? I have tried heat and throat losangers, neither helped.
hello, i accidently bit the side of my cheek n now there is an open sore which is located back toward my top widsom tooth on my left side now its not only causing pain in my cheek but it also is causing minor to medium pain in my lower jaw... it hurts when i talk, eat or just even have my mouth closed... i believe that the open sore could be infected but still not sure... is there any way to possible help the pain without pescription medicine? maybe anything over the counter i could take?
I woke the other morning to notice my mouth was really sore, it felt as though my gums on the right side had a lump on the inner side and my jaw and mouth hurt when I move it too much eg, eating, drinking I can not open my mouth wide without pain in my jaw and mouth area this is only on the right side. I also have a sore throat now. I also noticed today that my tonsils are swelling and I have a lot of mucus and my gums seem white.
Last July 2010, I had a fever for a couple days of 103 and an extremely sore throat. I felt horrible for about five days and tired for the next month after. I do not have health insurance and due to a medical emergency with one of my children, I could not afford to go to the doctor. A week or so after my throat quit hurting I started getting swollen lymph nodes on my right side at the base of my neck-shoulder area which sometimes can be seen and can always be felt.
