Recurrent sore throat, on the other hand, can be due to allergic reaction, irritation, smoking or from infectious mononucleosisis. Infectious mononucleosis or kissing disease, is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It presents with fever, sore throat and fatigue.Check with your doctor for proper evaluation.
I have never got this sick but for the last few days I have had sore throat, headache, runny nose and back pain(inhale). Tonight I was too sick to walk so I took the cab home and I start to have chill and sweat and have chest pain. My whole body was shaking and I sat in my bathtub fill with hot water and it still won't go away. Anyone know what this is and how to deal with it? Honestly I don't have the energy to go to the doctors right now.
But the bacteria may have been resistant to the antibiotic or you may have just had a virus plus had a slight bacterial infection and that is gone now but you still are fighting the virus (which shows up as the red throat with the vein look and bumpy). Do you have a fever? I don't think you have pharyngotonsillitis or anything too serious. It is just a virus. If you have a high fever such as 102 or higher I would revisit the doctor. Otherwise, it will go away.
I have a mild sore throat.. mostly hurts when I swallow, my ears hurt a little when I swallow, feeling tired, dizzy, I have a red spot on the back of my throat and my neck is sore.. this has been for 5 days after my dentist filling appointment.. could this from my mouth getting too dry during the appt. or am I getting sick?
I started feeling tingling on my penis/balls and thighs and in my mouth/toungue/lips about 2 days later. By Thursday or Friday July 28th, I had a sore throat. If the sore throat is from a virus, there are several at home "remedies" you can try - they won't "cure" the virus that is causing the sore throat, but will make the throat feel better so you're not so miserable - hot tea with honey or lemon (or both), gargling with warm salt water, popsicles. Stick with easy to swallow foods such as applesauce, scrambled eggs, jello - avoid spicy or highly acidic foods.

I have had a persistent sore throat for the past two months and was prescribed an antibiotic a few weeks ago. The antibiotic corrected the sore throat and nasal pressure, so I assumed it is a sinus infection. My test results for strains of step came in negative and the doctor recommended I cease taking my antibiotic (5 days in out of 10) so I did. It has now come back and I expect it to stay if untreated (as the past two months have shown).
It could be an STD perhaps GC. But it could also be a strep throat or a virus. Do you have a fever or any pus in your throat (white bumps or patches near the tonsils or the back of your throat)? If do you it could be a strep throat. IF no fever and no pus but just a red throat it maybe a virus. It should pass in a couple of days if it is a virus. If it dosen't get better then see a doctor and be honest about the oral sex.
I understand that infections are rarely passed through oral sex but my question basically stems from the fact that I have been quite ill the last 4 days. It started a day or two after the sex worker but it feels just like a flu or cold. My throat has been sore, I have had a fever, aches and pains, a headache and fatique and mild coughing. The symptoms don't really sound like an oral std and I was wondering if it's just a coincidence?

My partner has never had any symptoms of herpes (oral or genital) and has not so much as had a cold sore. My throat is so sore and very hard to swallow and the white spots are still clustered in one small area, with nothing elsewhere on penis or lips or mouth. The doctor I saw two days ago suggested it could be the cold sore virus (herpes) as canker sores unlikely as they would be randomly spread not clustered. I m having ear pain and sore throat and also have sore mouth, my tounge, upper area of mouth and also hav pain behind the ears...been like this for a week now. I m worried as I had a pap smear wich came back with hpv and ascus and I also hav large fibroids wich I m getting treatment for. I seen two different doctors during this viral infection and both called it a case of pharyngitis and I was given some steroids to help with the inflammation. The infection completely cleared in one week. My question is if I could have contracted oral herpes from the girl?
