Common Questions and Answers about Sore scalp to touch

Avatar m tn it's been a week that my skin is sore to touch on my scalp. I shave my head and it feels as though i have scraped it with the razor but there is no sign of any soreness or bruising. Interesting to see so many people have suffered it for so long and yet no one knows the answer. Has any one reported this to the NHS?
Avatar f tn For a good few days I have a patch on the bottom left of my scalp which is very sore to touch. It does just feel like that feeling you get if your hair has been tied up tightly. I also have a couple of weird marks on my face - very small just like the skin has rubbed off? I had a tattoo and nose piercing a week or so ago - am I being paranoid? Any connections?
Avatar n tn My sore scalp is definitely related to hormonal changes during PMS. My hair scalp gets sore to the touch in the male pattern balding areas of my head. I do experience slight shedding of hair at this time but it's mostly sore. I also normally experience breast tenderness as well as bloating so it may be caused by water retention. I'm not a doctor but this is what I believe it could be. I first experienced this in my early 20's while in college.
Avatar n tn I have sore hard bumps on scalp. I have been to two dermatoligst, with no success for two years. They hurt and itch. They gave me shampoo, pills, and injections. They seem like they don't know what it is.
Avatar n tn I have painful sores on my scalp. They are swollen and painful to the touch. When I squeeze them they bleed, but the blood is watery. Sometimes the sores go away entirely, but other times I seem to get many of them - maybe 5 - at the same time. I see from a Google discussion on the subject that this is quite common, but no one seems to know the cause.
Avatar n tn my scalp is so tender to touch...and my temples hurt bad sometimes to...those veins orwhatever they are in ur temples hurt to..they stickout a little..and when i rub hurts to..also i had an accident/injury back in sept... and my neck n back were in neckshurts just about everyday...and yes i have been to my dr...she said it was just tension... and gave me excercises to do...i was thinkin i hadsome nerve pain?, my left cheek hurts sometimes..its a weird kinda pain...
Avatar n tn Past primary care doctors have not been concerned with it. Over the past few days, it has become inflamed - red, larger, sore to the touch and a little tingly. I've made a dermatologist appointment but can't get in for about a week. Any advice? Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn The doctor thought it was a compressed nerve, something related to the pregnancy. I don't know if this could be related to the sore spots? Could a pinched nerve cause scalp pain like that?
Avatar n tn Basically, for about 24 - 48 hours, an area of skin (generally from the size of a softball to basketball) will become extremely tender and sore to the touch ... almost as if it were bruised significantly. It is so tender that clothes brushing against it is painful. The problem is, there is no visual evidence of it. I went to the doctor and felt as though he was insinuating that I was making up the symptoms because he could not see anything. Very, very frustrating.
Avatar n tn I had the stabbing several times through out the day and now my scalp is SO tender. It hurts to touch. I used to get migraines monthly, but after 3 children, no more migraines. I will go to my doctor soon to check this out, but I am worried about this. I keep reading about "ice pick" headaches, but do they leave their victims with sore scalps afterwards? My pain is on the left side and almost on top of my head. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
1237832 tn?1268047841 My scalp is really dry ,itchy ,sore all over to touch and I have crusty lumps like pimples in my scalp which are sore ,nothing the Dr has given me seems to ease it ,any advise what this could be please ?
Avatar n tn I am having pain just on one side of my scalp. It is so tender it hurts to touch my hair. My ear on the same side is sore and I have a small knot behind it,which is also tender. What should I do?
12773 tn?1328916786 to me, the tx flu-like symptoms include my skin being sore to the to scalp as well. The sore skin doesn't always occur for me every week tho, just from time to time. I am fortunate enough to have a hot tub, it seems to be the best therapy for me & I use it every day. It helps me SO much to soak for 10-15 minutes. It helps me with the sore skin, joint & body aches, stress & just plain relaxation. If you don't have a hottub, try just soaking in the bathtub.
Avatar n tn They appear to be spreading and are slightly tender, sore to the touch. on the second day I am experiencing occasional stabs of pain from the area, similar to headache pains and short in duration. Rash, insect bite, serious?
529981 tn?1212853666 I am a busy college student, who unfortunately does not have the time and money to deal with this.
Avatar n tn My whole scalp is sore to the touch. It feels like I have just taken a ponytail out except it it all over my scalp instead of in a particular place. What could this be? Please help.
Avatar f tn Sometime I would get these small bumps on my scalp that would be sore. to relieve the soreness I would pull out the hair on the bump and at the roots of the strands would be a clear wax like covering on it usually less than a cm in length. It is wet to the touch and can be removed from the root if you pull it off. Sometimes a bump would be so sore, I end up pulling 15+ strands with those things on the root.. What's happening??
Avatar f tn It started on the right side of the back of my neck and slowly progressed to my scalp where it has stayed. I get shooting pains that start at the top of my scalp and shoot downward to my neck and ears. I have already seeen 5 dermatologists, but they will only look at the scalp. They will not touch it. I have been told that if they cannot see it, it does not exist. I am beside myself as to what to do next. A friend who is an RN said that it could be neurological.
Avatar f tn My scalp doesn't have sores and the area doesn't appear to be red, but my hair has thinned in the sore area. It isn't sore to touch it just constantly feels tender. I do suffer from allergies to dust, pollen, and cat dandruff. I often have sinus pressure around my temples and forehead. Could my sinus problems be causing my sore scalp?
Avatar f tn I have very itchy scalp's very sore when I touch it and when I scratch itches so bad that I can't help but to scratch My head. I try to scratch as soft as I can but it very tender. The itching and soreness is only in the middle of my head . The crown hair is thinning a little in that area and it kind of feel a little scaby; but I can't really tell. I am a 24 year old female. Black African American. I don't take no medication. Avatar n tn I have some pain on the crown of my head, it gets bad at times and it is sensitive to touch even when I lie down or anything touches it. Avatar n tn Like I said above it was a casual, couple of seconds touch but still a wound-to-wound one assuming he had a wound, too. Would appreciate some assistance and possible reassurance or advice based on the above incident and assumptions. Thank you all for your time.
Avatar m tn All are very sore to the touch. The main area of outbreak is a band across the back of my scalp from temple to temple, the sort of area where a hat band would contact your head. The spots are constantly appearing but I have periods of more severs outbreak. I have oily hair which I have to wash every day with baby shampoo. I dont get acne on any other part of my body. I know I probably shouldn't but I do squeeze them as it relieves some of the pain. Any ideas on condition and/or remedies ?
Avatar f tn Here are my current symptoms: vomitting nausea (when not vomitting) sore scalp stabbing pains in head sore neck migranes numbness/tingling sweating in both hands & feet some weakness dizzyness/ lightheaded tachycardia (big time palps) I can't stand it much longer and need something done. OSU said I wasn't on a good pain management program and said I need to be so they prescribed me percocet for 5 -10 days. I just called my primary to ask for a refill but um...I doubt he does.
Avatar f tn For the past month I've been having headaches on the left side of my head. top, side and forehead area. If I touch my head my scalp is very sore. I feel like I have a bruise on my head. I've been to my dr he thinks it could be from my birth control pill. I've taken the same pill for 3+ years. I've had a cat scan and it was normal. The pain is not constant but pretty close. Sometimes it pulsates, sometimes it's dull. Does anyone have a clue what this might be?? I need some relief.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have scalp pain due to Fibromyalgia. It comes and goes and only bothers me when I brush my hair or touch it.
535822 tn?1443980380 It is subtle so the doctors don't seem to care about it. I do though! Sometimes my scalp also feels sore in spots and sometimes puffy. Sometimes it tingles like crazy. It feels like little critters but there is nothing there. I was dxd w/lyme in 2005 and much better now but still residual issues.
Avatar n tn The place becomes tender to touch. You have to go for a gastroenterologist consultation to fix your problem. If it would have been a skin problem/allergy then you would have some physical signs and symtoms. Take care!
Avatar m tn Then my neck (the fleshy part right under my right ear) got sore to the touch, then my scalp became sore right above my right ear, the part that is sore is about 1.5 inches in diameter. This started last night June 20th, today is the 21st and it's a little worse than it was yesterday. Please someone give me some guidance.
