it's been a week that my skin is sore to touch on my scalp. I shave my head and it feels as though i have scraped it with the razor but there is no sign of any soreness or bruising. Interesting to see so many people have suffered it for so long and yet no one knows the answer. Has any one reported this to the NHS?
For a good few days I have a patch on the bottom left of my scalp which is very sore to touch. It does just feel like that feeling you get if your hair has been tied up tightly. I also have a couple of weird marks on my face - very small just like the skin has rubbed off? I had a tattoo and nose piercing a week or so ago - am I being paranoid? Any connections?
It is a area of tenderness of the scalp in which people also sometimes feel stabbing headaches. Others just feel very sore and tender to the touch. It is felt to be caused by irritation of the connective tissue which attaches the muscles of the scalp to the skull (cranium). It may, sometimes especially when lower on the head, be an inflammation of one of the branches of the facial nerve.

Sometimes the sores go away entirely, but other times I seem to get many of them - maybe 5 - at the same time. I see from a Google discussion on the subject that this is quite common, but no one seems to know the cause.

I've made a dermatologist appointment but can't get in for about a week. Any advice? Should I be worried?
The doctor thought it was a compressed nerve, something related to the pregnancy. I don't know if this could be related to the sore spots? Could a pinched nerve cause scalp pain like that?
Basically, for about 24 - 48 hours, an area of skin (generally from the size of a softball to basketball) will become extremely tender and sore to the touch ... almost as if it were bruised significantly. It is so tender that clothes brushing against it is painful. The problem is, there is no visual evidence of it. I went to the doctor and felt as though he was insinuating that I was making up the symptoms because he could not see anything. Very, very frustrating.

The sore skin doesn't always occur for me every week tho, just from time to time. I am fortunate enough to have a hot tub, it seems to be the best therapy for me & I use it every day. It helps me SO much to soak for 10-15 minutes. It helps me with the sore skin, joint & body aches, stress & just plain relaxation. If you don't have a hottub, try just soaking in the bathtub.

Sometime I would get these small bumps on my scalp that would be sore. to relieve the soreness I would pull out the hair on the bump and at the roots of the strands would be a clear wax like covering on it usually less than a cm in length. It is wet to the touch and can be removed from the root if you pull it off. Sometimes a bump would be so sore, I end up pulling 15+ strands with those things on the root.. What's happening??
It started on the right side of the back of my neck and slowly progressed to my scalp where it has stayed. I get shooting pains that start at the top of my scalp and shoot downward to my neck and ears. I have already seeen 5 dermatologists, but they will only look at the scalp. They will not touch it. I have been told that if they cannot see it, it does not exist. I am beside myself as to what to do next. A friend who is an RN said that it could be neurological.
my scalp doesn't have sores and the area doesn't appear to be red, but my hair has thinned in the sore area. It isn't sore to touch it just constantly feels tender. I do suffer from allergies to dust, pollen, and cat dandruff. I often have sinus pressure around my temples and forehead. Could my sinus problems be causing my sore scalp?

All are very sore to the touch. The main area of outbreak is a band across the back of my scalp from temple to temple, the sort of area where a hat band would contact your head. The spots are constantly appearing but I have periods of more severs outbreak. I have oily hair which I have to wash every day with baby shampoo. I dont get acne on any other part of my body. I know I probably shouldn't but I do squeeze them as it relieves some of the pain. Any ideas on condition and/or remedies ?

For the past month I've been having headaches on the left side of my head. top, side and forehead area. If I touch my head my scalp is very sore. I feel like I have a bruise on my head. I've been to my dr he thinks it could be from my birth control pill. I've taken the same pill for 3+ years. I've had a cat scan and it was normal. The pain is not constant but pretty close. Sometimes it pulsates, sometimes it's dull. Does anyone have a clue what this might be?? I need some relief.

It is subtle so the doctors don't seem to care about it. I do though! Sometimes my scalp also feels sore in spots and sometimes puffy. Sometimes it tingles like crazy. It feels like little critters but there is nothing there. I was dxd w/lyme in 2005 and much better now but still residual issues.
