Your persistent symptoms of sore throat, ear pain and lymph node swelling could be due to a throat infection, most probably streptococcal or a viral infection. I agree with Londres70, about having "strep" and not taking anything not making sense. If you had strep they would have given you something. If you didn't go to the doctor for it you would have because it is so painful you can't stand it. The rest is the same as her post and my last couple. Let us know how it goes.

my son is 9+yrs and has had a stiff neck since oct/nov last year. suddenly 2mo's ago he got really swollen glands with sore throat and bad chest infection with wheezing asthma, followed by high fever ard 5days later. it affected his liver too for e next 2months_swollen and palpable, with upset stomach and pain below the ribs. the doc suspected EBV, so he was told no sports for 2mo's. a test showed that it was an old ebv infection, but not active.

Your sed rate or (ESR) can be high with any cause of inflammation such as Rheumatoid arthritis, anemia, lupus, pregnancy, etc. Do you have a sore throat? Have you had your throat checked for a strep infection? You could also perhaps have mono if you had a sore throat, swollen glands and high fever, fatigue etc. A lot of things will cause high ESR and swollen glands. What other symptoms do you have?
like the feeling you get before you get a sore throat. it kind of also feels like its partially closed like there is alot of mucus or something lineing my throat. i dont know if it could be an STD or not. my boyfriend said he had not sexual disease or anything that he was healthy and i am too i have to sexual diseases. please help me!!!
So im getting worried as im on week three of a sore throat that started with a neck rash that might have just been poison oak and not related but also had a coated white tongue , i went to the doc and he said it looked a little sore and saw one of my tonsils was swollen, he gave me penicillin in which im on day 7 with no real change... And strep is notoriously resistant. They now use higher doses of things and antibiotics have additive agents to help them stay potent in killing the bacteria. So, if you took the full course and are still sick, follow back up with your doctor for the next step. Knock this out hopefully soon!
Monday I got a severe burning sore throat with no other symptoms. Tuesday sore throat was worse I could barely swallow. Went to MD and had a strep throat test- negative. Also swollen lymph nodes in neck and slight fever 101.
No other cold or flu symptoms. I can only swallow ice water or ice chips. After 3 days I now have a blistery rash on my hands also. Could this be mono or something else- should I see Dr again?

Hello. I started too recently see someone new and we have been having sex. I gave her a lot of oral sex and the next day I woke up with really sore throat. It's now been 3 days and my throat is still really sore. I looked into my mouse using a light and there is white spots all over my inflamed tonsils. Could I catch strep throat from oral sex soo fast? And will I need antibiotics.
I am worried she might have had a yeast infection though it didn't look like it down there at the time.
If do you it could be a strep throat. IF no fever and no pus but just a red throat it maybe a virus. It should pass in a couple of days if it is a virus. If it dosen't get better then see a doctor and be honest about the oral sex. They can easily do a throat swab for GC and also a culture for strep throat or a rapid strep test and culture. Two days later I woke up with a sore throat and bright green mucus going down the back of my throat. The next day I went to the University health center where I tested negative for the rapid strep test. I went ahead and got the GC done as well just to be safe. The strep culture ended up coming back positive with strep group G and negative in the GC. I asked about my tonsils (which didnt seem to concern the doctor) had miniscule white streaks which I was told was just mucus caught in them.
When I tough it my full back area of tongue fills with pain. Its like sore yet hurts all the time.

Sounds like you might have strep throat / throat infection. I had one recently, also started on the one side, was so sore that my gland swelled up and my ear was killing me. Made an appointment to see doc immediately as I could feel it wasn't going to miraculously get better. Doc put me on antibiotics and within a few days it felt so much better.
