Sore neck and jaw

Common Questions and Answers about Sore neck and jaw

sore

The thing is I was fine then all of a sudden I have these two odd pains in my neck and jaw which I have never had before. I have had issues with my throat before with soreness, sensation of a lump in the throat and the odd day when just above the adams apple (larynx area I think) has been sore. Never had pain in my jaw or neck before though. I can't feel any unusual lumps or bumps anywhere and I have been checked before by my doc and hospital. It does worry me and I am a worrier.
the back of my neck stays so stiff and sore. thought it was my pillow but got new pillow and the same thing think i am so tense that i clinch my teeth and i feel that im not relaxing. im all tensed up.. now my jaw hurts i have a headache and th back of my neck really is stiff.
A while back I had a sinus infection that drained into my jaw and lymph nodes in my neck that hurt sooooo bad I was crying in agony. Could stand to even move my head or talk. I put really hot compresses on the areas to help them drain and take the soreness out. I used towels I had put in the microwave to wrap around my neck and against my face. The prednisone may have been masking this, but now it's out of your system so the pain is there. Hope the drs come up with something soon.
Now I have a canker sore on the left, lower side of my mouth (not on the gum), and I'm experiencing jaw pain in the same area, under my neck. I can feel where the vein is pulsating with my fingers. My teeth don't hurt when I chew on that side, and there's no sensitivity to temperature (obviously the canker sore stings when things get into it). The jaw pain didn't start until after I started using mouthwash in addition to brushing.
I've been having pain, possibility that it might be my wisdom teeth, also i have sore neck like when you move your neck to fast and you pinch a nerve but it won't go away. My throat has also been hurting and i have been coughing up coagulated nasal mucus, that has dried blood in. Lastly i have been getting headache's that won't go away, and a painful feeling in or behind my eye's. Does anyone have an idea of what i might have, two week's before this i had a tempurature of a 103.
Even when I'm talking socially I sometimes feel my throat getting sore - and it can be hard to talk or sing. Naturally, and unfortunately, this has led to a state of deep depression, but I have now been free from tears for about six weeks. I've been to two physios, am attending Alexander Technique lessons, and the Oral surgeon seems to have given up on me! I wore a splint for a little while but this seemed to make the pain worse.. So my questions are: 1.
For the past three months my son (19) has developed severe stiff neck, sore throat, and pain in lymph nodes (front side under jaw bones) The sympthoms come on suddenly, last a few days, then disappear for a month.. The first two cases were treated with antibiotics and anti-imflam but tests for bactical infection have been negitive. No fever. ENT Dr. does not see any significant inflamation and infectious desease specialist ruled out meningitidis (although no test performed).
Could it be that I just have an ear infection and that the swollen lymph node was trying to fight it and lost? And now it's maybe infected from my cold? I don't have any health insurance and I don't have any money so going to a doctor is out of the question at this point in time. If it doesn't get better in a week or so I'll go in, but I'd like some opinions right now, I am kind of freaking out that I have thyroid cancer or something terrible. HELP?
3 weeks later the swelling on my cheekbone had still not went down had 2 courses of antibiotics my doctor sent me to hospital my sinnises were check had x ray then a month later had ct scan of sinnises all have come back clear the swelling has went down but now getting swollen glands and tightness under my jaw and down right side of neck the specialist said it was the antidepressents that were giving me the signs of sinnisitus my doc has now changed my antidepressents but sometime during every

So I thought it was no big deal until just a few days ago it became even more painful in my jaw and now the pain has moved to my ear. The canker sore has turned into an open sore. I also have a rash that builds along the left side of my neck which is the same side as my infection. So what might it be? and what can I do for the pain?
My throat hurts and my jaw and neck ache, sore shoulders and back of neck. My throat is really red and veiney and my tonsils. And those veins are going up the roof of my mouth a little bit. There is white bumbs on my throat.
I am trying to find out if there are any links to this type of allergy that I am experiencing and swellings in the neck (particularly under the jaw). I am starting to notice that my allergy symptoms flare up around my pets (we have two dogs and two cats). I am currently kenneling my animals for the weekend to really see if the post nasal drip, etc. lets up, so I'm not sure this is related yet. I have been miserable with these symptoms for a few months now. Any information is appreciated.
Hi, I have been suffering from avariety of issues around my neck and mouth. Have had a sensation of sore tounge, prickly toung particularly at back, sore mouth. Also a sensation that my tounge is too large in my mouth. I now also have a very distinct Tremor in my lower jaw and my mouth seems to be watering a lot. It imptoves slightly if I eat. I was diagnosed earlier in the year with Thyroiditis. Which supposedly got better. I have a serious brain fog and my eyes are very light sensitive.
Can jaw pain and constant sore throat be a symptom of Fibromyalgia / CFS. I was diagnosed with CFS a few years ago and had glandular fever when I was 19 (am 48 now) but have had bouts of feeling flu like and general fatigue over the years. I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
I've had issues on and off with my jaw being really stiff and sore. Also I get a crampy feeling in the muscles of my neck, especially below the chin, and around the adam's apple. During Christmas my jaw felt weak - I only noticed it because I was chomping on a candy cane! So I don't think that TN is specifically causing your jaw stiffness and weakness. My unofficial take on it is that you've got some neurological involvement that includes the nerves leading to your face and jaw.
it didn't help. The jaw settled, but I continued having problems with tongue and neck, and throat when I swallow and under jaw when I swallow, where glands are ( on one side only). Cold weather seems to affect all this, mainly throat and neck. Tongue remains continually sore and I have tried the thrush medication prescribed by doctor but it hasn't worked; also tried rinsing with salt water + bi-carb soda. Any help/comments would be appreciated.
I do have the same type of problem, Inner Ear pressure, Neck and Headaches, A sore thraot and only now the jaw pain/pressure is extra, but it is a definate allergyto me, physio don't help stress relievers a bit, but an Anthistamien is the answer, takes a while before it clears up and then stay away for a while till the next one hits you .....
on Friday. I'm very concerned about the sore throat pain, jaw pain and now weird nerve sensation in my neck and throat area. Any ideas?
Some of our symptoms include headaches, neck/back pain, tingling of limbs, burning tongue, jaw pain and/or fatigue, burning sensation on top of head, face pain. I only have headaches, neck/back pain, and jaw fatigue, but my other family members have other symptoms. Until I started getting treated for it I never would have believe that having a problem with my jaw placement would have caused all those problems. It's worth a shot. Do you ever wake up with a sore or clenched jaw?
A couple days ago I started having throat/neck pain. Its lower on my neck/throat. It doesn't feel like a sore throat or a pulled muscle. When I touch the area it hurts more. Also, It hurts more when I swallow, yawn or cry. I think it is where my lymph node is located. It's only on the left side. A few hours ago I started having severe, constant pain in my jaw/teeth. Also, on the left side. I don't know if it is related. Any ideas on what's going on? Should I see a doctor?
But then after a few months I had extremely severe pain form between the tooth and my maxillary sinus on that side, and then pain back to my jaw, and below my jaw down my neck with swollen lymph nodes. Plus when I bite down that tooth and only that tooth hurts. Well, the dentist took new bite wing X-rays and didn't see an abscess or anything and gave me Amoxil which completely elminated the severe pain in 5 days...
I notice my neck and jaw muscles get so tense that I constantly have to remind myself to let go and relax for days at a time. I tend to clamp down on my teeth a lot and will sometimes give myself a headache. I also stop having an interest in food. Do you think this may signal my mania starting? Im kind of guessing it does, but just wanted some others opinions. Thanks.
How ever I have had no sore throat and no fever. Now all the glands on both sides of my throat are sore, but not swollen. I have read a lot on swollen glands being an early symptom of hiv, but I am not clear on what sore glands with no sore throat means. None of my lymph glands feel enlarged. Is it possible these symptoms could be ARS? The whole time I figured it was just a bacterial infection that would go away, but it still hurts.
'( It's not normally this sore ...
This was last week and it has not subsided. It is sore in my neck to the touch, and the pain radiates into my ear and lower jaw. Neither the jaw or the ear are sore to the touch. My primary care dr. gave me Ceclor for a sinus infection after a few days because it sounded sinus related to her. Has not helped. I went to the ER yesterday because of the pain and they thought I had torn my carotid artery!
About two weeks ago, my neck and jaw began to ache so I went to an oral surgeon where I was told i had developed perocoronitis by my wisdom tooth. The doctor put me on antibiotics and took my top two teeth out the very next morning. I had only a local and did not need stitches. He told me I would be feeling much better by the next day. He did not prescribe me any painkillers, but told me to take ibuprofen.
It felt like I still had a tooth and it ached...... Then all of a sudden my jaw joints started to have this dull ache and my teeth across the top started to ache and then on the sides in the lower part of my mouth.... Like I was getting tooth aches in all my teeth.... It never got to being unbearable... Then the dull feeling went down in my neck and my glands started swelling (it felt like)....
