Common Questions and Answers about Sore jaw throat

sore

I have been using a u-shaped pillow to support my neck somewhat. I was chewing some bubble gum last night...and my jaw, neck and throat are muscular sore...wonder if it is related?
Your persistent symptoms of sore throat, ear pain and lymph node swelling could be due to a throat infection, most probably streptococcal or a viral infection. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain.
You are wrong about symptoms; most STDs of the throat cause no sore throat or any other symptom. When symptoms rarely occur, they generally are mild. Chlamydia almost never infects the throat; when gonorrhea is there, it clears up on its own in a few weeks--but of course antibiotics make it go away faster. Transmission of oral gonorrhea to a partner's genitals can occur, but is rare.
The pain began about 4 weeks ago, wherein I had a brief respite of pain for about a week, then the pain returned and worse than before. I developed a sore throat and right enlarged tonsil. The throat remains sore. I went to my dentist and after a panoramic xray, she saw nothing wrong. Given the persistence of my pain, I returned to see a different dentist in the practice who did 2 more detailed xrays and saw a slight infection in wisdom tooth. I had the tooth removed the next day.
I have had a sore throat for almost 14 days now, accompanied by infrequent stabbing pain in my jaw. I know that it's not normal to have a sore throat for this long (it's on my right side, same side as jaw pain) and I'm starting to become concerned. I saw a dentist, thinkin that it was tooth related, but the dentist said he could not attribute it to any tooth problems. He took my temp, felt glands, applied pressure to gums. Nothing, but the pain still persists. What could it be ?
I have had jaw pain for many days, only on one side, now i have ear and throat pain on the same side, and my jaw hurts so bad, like I had been punched (or so I assume) really har din the jaw. It hurts to eat, and I have pain in my ear and a sore throat.....can anyone give me advise? Bad sinuses? Time to go the Dr?
How ever I have had no sore throat and no fever. Now all the glands on both sides of my throat are sore, but not swollen. I have read a lot on swollen glands being an early symptom of hiv, but I am not clear on what sore glands with no sore throat means. None of my lymph glands feel enlarged. Is it possible these symptoms could be ARS? The whole time I figured it was just a bacterial infection that would go away, but it still hurts.
Occasionally I try to clear my ears by manipulating my jaw. This works partially, but very often seem to get a sore throat. Anyone else with this problem ?
I spiked a fever, terrible non stop headaches for about a week and a half, pain behind the eyes, sore throat. I felt pressure behind my nose and all I could do was sleep. I went to the ER and they told me I may have had pneumonia, which I don't think was correct. They gave me antibiotics and steroids and I felt better. It took a week though. Now here I am with a terrible red throat and white spots all around my tonsils, which I have never had before, only on my tonsils and my head hurts again.
I saw my doctor, today, and he said my ear looks fine, but my throat looked a little red. It dose hurt more when I chew. I could possible have a sore throat and not really notice it (I take high doses of pain medicines for an unrelated medical disorder), but I am not running a fever. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this, or have any possible insight? The pain is very intense.
I'm training to be a classroom music teacher and I seem to find myself getting a sore throat on an almost daily basis. I've learnt a lot about deep/diaphramatic breathing from my singing lessons but I admit I do find it very hard in the classroom because I'm constantly being observed - and because I can constantly feel the pain in my neck or throat. Even when I'm talking socially I sometimes feel my throat getting sore - and it can be hard to talk or sing.
The odd thing about it though is that my whole throat didn't hurt (technically it wasn't even my throat). The far back roof of my mouth on my right side would hurt every time I swallowed or yawned, but not to chew, move my mouth around, or talk. The next day, it seemed better during the day. I definitely was not in as much pain. However, at night, it came back, and it was worse this time. An area above the back of molar hurt to put pressure on, and every time I swallowed.

Hi Welcome to the forum! Sore throat with swollen lymph nodes in the neck should be investigated for infectious mononucleosis. In a person infected with infectious mononucleosis the EBV remains dormant in cells in the throat and blood for the rest of the person's life. Periodically, the virus can reactivate without or without symptoms of illness and can be found in the saliva of infected persons.
I have had an unusual sore throat for a couple of weeks now. It's in the back upper left side of my throat, and the pain is localized to that side only. I feel like the pressure in my head(ears and nose) is off a little too. Ive had plenty of sore throats in my 35 years, but this is unlike any I've experienced.
got flu shot on Dec 4, 2013 been sick ever since, started feelling little under the weather, then coughing with crazy unheard amounts of green mucus came up with the cough, lasted for almost a month, then my throat so sore it was almost making me cry, sore throat and ear pain mostly on right side, the pain was feeling like it went from throat to jawbone and jawbone made teeth feel very sore, looked like strings of green pus in very back of throat, pus also in the folds of my tonsils on the side

It was a sharp pain and a feeling as if something were in my throat. The sides of my throat under my jaw felt tight and constricting. The saliva glands under my tongue were also sore. A few days into the sore throat I developed a small rash on my right arm on the inside of the elbow. Approximately a dozen small pimples, light pink to red. They didn't itch, but scratching or squeezing caused them to get a dark center.
Has anyone else experienced the jaw pain and ongoing sore throat? Thanks. I am concerned because I had breast cancer four years ago, so hoping my current problems are just Epstein Barr.
Pressure in my throat, pressure in my jaw, but no symptoms of a sore throat, no problem swallowing. I've been feeling like this for 2 weeks. I have no problem eating. Eating actually comforts me, and I dont feel it as much. It first started as shortness of breath, with not being able to take a deep breath in, along with a lump in the throat feeling. The feeling that you feel when you want to cry. The sensation is now more pronounced.
I have been getting jaw pain over a few months, twice when I've felt a massive "click" and it hurt, and this morning it felt locked and has been sore since. My ears have also felt blocked. Anyone have any ideas? Don't really want to go to drs if I don't have to.
On saturday I started with a headache and then progressed into a sore throat on monday on one side and now it's both sides. The sore throat is almost like on the esophagus when touched on the outside it hurts. Opening my mouth wide or sneezing or yawning hurts not alot but it hurts. My ears hurt as well.
l have had this sore throat for more than a 3 weeks now, right below my left jaw,on the neck,,its not a tonsils because l cant be able to tough it,it must be something else,it may move from side to side but now it has settled on the left jaw in the throat. When l read what it could be,l found a site saying that sore throat lasting that long would mean Aids or cancerous disease.l have a deep depression and l called the doctor today,he will check it tomorrow.please pray for me.
Can jaw pain and constant sore throat be a symptom of Fibromyalgia / CFS. I was diagnosed with CFS a few years ago and had glandular fever when I was 19 (am 48 now) but have had bouts of feeling flu like and general fatigue over the years. I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
