Sore jaw near wisdom tooth

Common Questions and Answers about Sore jaw near wisdom tooth

sore

I have still not had them removed and the far/upper region of my lower right jaw (near/below and the area around my wisdom tooth) is where I occassionally experience pain and swelling. Could my sore throat have anything to do with the wisdom tooth on the lower portion of the right side of my jaw? Or are the two wholly unrelated? Additionally, my diet for the past several months has consisted of foods that destroy the teeth (sodas, fries, pizzas, coffees, teas, etc.
HI, Removal of the wisdom tooth can cause a lot of pain and inflammation, because the wisdom tooth is situated near the jaw bone. The pain and bleeding may occur for a few days till the healing takes place. Ice packs may also help. Hence you can continue with the treatment and check out with your Doctor for follow up. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
NOT SPINNING JUST WERID....MY HEAD HURTSA LL THE TIME...AND MY JAW KINDA FEELS LIKE SORE...
it hurts when i smile wide, feels like something is stuck up there near my cheek. jaw stiffness, just blah. sore.
HI! Yes, my wisdom tooth scar area on the left side top and bottom feels crazy - tingly pain. I'm so glad you commented! Graves is hyperthyroid, right? Do they say that has anything to do with all this craziness? I am hyprethyroid and they are sending me to an endo but couldn't get me in until Nov 14. I am pretty much the same as I have been. This is depressing and anxiety causing...I don't exactly need any more anxiety. Sheesh. Thank you for commenting and sharing.
I had two of my wisdom teeth removed three days ago. First day I couldn't feel the right side of my face (even my ear was numb) but it got better. Now I can't feel my teeth on the right side, can't feel the right half of my bottom lip and my chin. I am getting panic attacks just by thinking that it will not get better. Now and then I feel a little itch on my chin but when I want to scratch it, I don't feel anything. I am so scared!
I think I have an infected tooth right above wer my wisdom tooth is beginning to come in at my jaw line below the gum reasons why I think the tooth is infected is because It gives off a foul smell hurts to the touch and my wisdom tooth has begin to stick out at the job line right below this infected tooth I'm only 20years of age and my insurance could take some time to kick in what should I do
I recently developed a sore in my mouth located at the top right, where a wisdom tooth should be. Have not yet had them removed, and thought this would be a factor, but I'm beginning to doubt that since they have not yet broken the surface. I had my mother look at it since I can't see it myself, and she determined that it is a canker sore. However, the pain is not receding like normal canker sores do. This one is getting worse. And it feels different, almost like a small hole.
I don't necessarily have ear fullness, but the area behind my ears near the jaw feels odd inside. Almost like they are swollen. It is hard to explain. I am at a loss of what do do next.
size, although sore near the crown site (maybe cuz she was poking in there). No bleeding when I brush. She gave me a dental rinse RX & told me to call in a few days. I'm also feeling itchy & dry on my face & body, but that could be due to nerves & my thyroid problems. But it sure seems strange that this all started 5 days after the crown went in. I appreciate any help you can give me, thank you.
Also - the gum on the tooth next to it has become very sensitive and sore over the last few days - is this common and will it heal - any advice on how to deal with this? Am i safe to rinse with salt water even though i have some packing still in the extraction socket?
Ok, so I've been putting up with on again, off again itching for months on my labia, near my vaginal opening. Never "diagnosed" with HPV but I did get rid of a suspected wart this past year. Can you have a bacterial infection without discharge? It drives me CRAZY sometimes, the only thing that calms it is gold bond ointment, which is minty and refreshing but I'd like no itch. No "rash" that I can see, unless I give in and scratch.
My 22 yr old son had to have his bottom, left wisdom tooth extracted. He has big teeth with long roots. The wisdom tooth should have been taken out 2 yrs ago but anyway it was infected and causing a problem with the molar next to it. The dentist got it out 2 weeks ago. My son has a dry socket now and is having a lot of pain! He is on pain meds. Last night he made me look and part of his jaw bone is exposed (inside lower left) We were freaking out last night.
I had an upper tooth filled only to go back two days later to get it extracted because there was so much pain. The tooth was on (my left) the upper side at the back next to my wisdom tooth which is extracted for years. The problem is I am experiencing a nagging pain at the front of my mouth, at the gum line near the teeth. The pain is on the upper and lower parts of my mouth; right at the front. Also my jaw is really sore. iT'S GIVING ME A HEADACHE AS WELL. Well the whole left side is sore.
I've been on antibiotics 3 X, every time I'm done, infection comes back, even after tooth extraction. Please see details below, I need your opinion. Thank You... Started with Left sore throat, then Gum Pain & hard white painful bump near #17 wisdom tooth. Got severe, hard to swallow, chew, painful. My reg. Dentist Rx'd Amoxicillin - took 6 days to start working. After swelling went down, did x-ray, he could not find any problem -tooth not abcessed.
I consulted dentist he found nothing and said, there may be wisdom tooth. But in my opinion it (mouth walls soreness and jaw pain) is related to GERD. Could you please advise me (if you have noticed these in other patients) what is this disease about? What should I do, since Omeprazole is not working for me even after taking 1 month (morning one and evening one tablet , half an hr before food). For the jaw pain, if it is wisome tooth, will it be seen if it get X-ray done in my jaw part?
I didn't have any issues, though I did get a sore in the area where my wisdom tooth used to be. A few days ago, however, I woke up in the middle of the night because my lower jaw area near the crown felt as though it were on fire--very painful. I took some ibuprofen and it went away, though I get achy in that area from time to time. Then last night I was flossing around the crown and I felt intense pain on one side; I could barely brush the area, either.
To give a brief history of my mouth, I know I clench my jaw shut but do not grind my teeth, I brush and floss everyday, my jaw pops on both sides, I only have a hand full of cavities and have my wisdom teeth out. I get chronic headaches near the temples and base of my neck, several sinus headaches and infections, pain in the ears or constant need to clean them or itch them. I would like to know how or what I can do before it’s too late and the cost doubles.
after it went away i got a bad headace and my left wisdom tooth became very sore and a numbness came all day in my jaw. both my eyes were sore and my left hand side of my neck near my collor bone was sore.
There is a part of my jaw that is only slightly sore if I touch it, and a few teeth on that side near the middle are vaguely sore, but otherwise there just a sort of numb feeling. Does a dry socket need to be treated if there is no pain involved? Will it heal without the clot?
If it's the wisdom tooth it may just rear it ugly head off and on with the same type symptoms until you do something about it Again, you're in a waiting game. If it's the jaw spasm, it will go away unless it's caused by your wisdom tooth. Does that make sense? Let's hope it's just the jaw spasm and a bit more time will take care of it. Fingers crossed here! And lots of good healing vibes!
When the hygienist was conducting the imaging, she gouged the inside of my jaw with the hard, non-pliable x-ray bite, just behind the bottom right molar [wisdom teeth removed], near the base of my tongue. Following the x-ray, I went through the typical, standard cleaning, which to my knowledge, frees a considerable amount of bacteria that can often times enter your system.
My teeth have always been in great condition (1 cavity my whole life) but like syltated abovs pregnancy really takes a toll, I ended up having to get a wisdom tooth pulled at 13weeks. No fun!! Around 15 1/2 weeks it literli just went away, no pain or sensitivity or bleeding. My dentist told me to keep brushing/ flossing like normal and warm salt water rinses if your mouth is sore. Good luck to you!
For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
I understand that a lot of this is my OCD, but what started my questioning/obsessing about this specific situation was the doctor saying that it could be a mild HSV primary infection, which was an un-prompted comment based on my symptoms - I didn't go in asking about it. I actually thought it had to do with partially grown-in wisdom tooth, since the sore appeared right above it and caused the tissue to become tender and swollen, as well as pain in my teeth/jaw.
I'm used to the dr.s not caring! The molar I had pulled was the one next to the wisdom tooth (all my wisdom teeth have been pulled years ago). Please let me know how it goes for you. Thanks for replying.
-P It made me think of myself because I too have a slightly enlarged lymph node in my neck just under my jaw line from and impacted wisdom tooth I had that had become infected. My docs tell me that it will likely remain enlarged and not to worry about it, and when I mess with it alot it does get bigger, but when I leave it alone it goes back down to "normal". Thanks for the laugh and I hope this helps you!
My sore throat is on and off but now my JAW is clicking and i have a swollen gland in front of my ear/jaw. It's bothering me so bad. I can't stand being home anymore and my doctor just keeps telling me that I have to wait it out and not to worry about every little thing. Well easy for them to say when they dont have to sit with it. I'm missing school and I need answers. Does this jaw thing come with Strep/Mono?
The symptoms you have are similar to the symptoms of a breached tooth infection. Have you had your wisdom teeth removed? if not, you may have an impacted tooth. Does the smell kind of smell like moth balls? At some point in time, did your gums have a ball like thing on it, that now seems to be softer than it was? Those are symptoms.
