Do your gums actually hurt, or are they sore? Applying too much pressure with any type of toothbrush can irritate your gums. The cheap spin brushes are harsh, stick with medium to soft bristles, and don't scrub your teeth, just brush them gently. You don't have gingivitis or your gums would bleed. I just think you've been too aggressive in your brushing. Hope this helps.

I brushed my teeth again a few days ago, and the same thing happened, but this time my bottom left gums felt sore/hurt. I don't know how to describe it...I think my orthodontist last month said that my gums were inflamed? I think they still are, and I did some research on this. I do need braces. I have a severe overbite. The dentist said when i last saw him (probably back in 2008) that my teeth were "soft" and braces was out of the question right then. I also had (still have?) gingivitis. I think I have 2 more cavities that need filling . When I get all this done, and keep a steady and healthy brushing routine when will I be able to wear braces? You could bring it up to your dentist or orthodontist, whoever is doing your braces. The stress from moving the teeth could affect the gums. I'm not sure why the gums are sloughing off though. It could be just some recession due to the trauma of removing the adjacent baby tooth.

Thank you for the response. I made an appointment to go in today for a follow up and I will see what he says. The dentist did say of course you can see visually I need braces but he has stressed without braces there's a high chance my symptoms will not improve because of the teeth being crooked. I may ask for a referral to a specialist because I don't have 100% faith in this dentist.

i had a thorough teeth cleaning recently,one quarter of my mouth every week. my gums are inflamed its as if theres a metal spike cutting into my gums. i have pain in my ears and a sore throat. all of this is new to me since i have never had dental issues. my mouth or teeth ''feel'' dirtyn /gravelly. mouthwash bring horrid pain . i have trouble swallowing ,not all the time but often thats it changed my eating and drinking patterns i have had AIDS for 25 years .
