Common Questions and Answers about Sore eye swollen eyelid

Yesterday morning I woke up noticing pain around my right eye. it was sore to the touch all they way down to the cheek bone, as well as mildly swollen and mildly red at the inner corner of the upper eyelid. it hurt to open and close my eye. Today the swelling is a little worse, but the area around my eye is no longer painful. the swollen area is still tender to the touch and it is irritating to open and close my eye. This afternoon it began to itch for the first time.

I thought at the time it might also caused by my eyeliner so I purchased non-allergenic line. I used this past weekend and eye lids are very sore and swollen. Went back on alergy medicine. I put liner on bottom of eye to test and see if it was liner, but nothing happened so I assume not. Why is this coming back and what do I do. Thanks.
Drooping swollen eyelid could be from head hitting floor. Sore throat and neck could be from screaming and whiplash from head hitting the floor. You need a little relaxation time and some anti-inflammatory treatment, maybe some physical therepy. Talk to your primary care doctor to get looked at ASAP and if lid is still abnormal, see an ophthalmologist also.
my right eyelid is sore and swollen around the lashes. I thought it was a stye, but I do not see a bump or pimple. Any ideas what is wrong? is it just an inflammation that will disappear?

I looked inside and seen that there is one white spot on the inside of my eyelid it had gotten bigger than before. I had a infection in the eye before but it was not tike this. I do not have any insurance so I am wondering what it might be and if there is a cheap way to take care of this since I am unemployed also.
I probably won't be able to get to a neurologist very easily/soon, so i'd like to know what this could be and if I should be worried! I've been having some eyepain in my right eye aswell + the top of the eye has been sore to touch. (just like the left eye) Sometimes the pain changes from one eye to another, but they never hurt at the same time. been having headaches for a few weeks too, they usually last for 1-3 hours or so. Migraine is in the family.

Yesterday afternoon I noticed the corner of my right upper eyelid was a little red and sore. This morning when I woke up, the same eyelid was really swollen and very sore. it doesn't seem that there is any extra discharge from my eye. it is just in the corner of my right upper eyelid and is really red and swollen. what could be wrong? is this something that will heal itself or do I need to mak a doctors appointment?

it is important to determine that the visual problem is due to the eyelid sore and not secondary to more internal structures like the blood vessels of the eye and retina. Apply a warm compress over the eye for 15 minutes. Seek immediate consult since this may be painful and you need antibiotics for this.
it is not a stye, I have had those before and it is nothing like that. it is very sore and slightly swollen, but not visable unless you flip the lid and look under. I have researched some things and it doesn't seem to be anything that i have been looking up...i'd list them, but i honestly can't recall all of the condition's names. I do not have a doctor where i live yet, and was wondering if anyone was experiencing or has seen this type of things before. thank you so much, Britt.
I have been to several doctors, all say I have a swollen gland on the outside of my eyelid towards my left ear. they pronounce the name so fast that I didn't even bother asking how to spell it both times because both had the same instruction. they said that I should apply hot compresses daily. Well, 9 months later, 3doses of antibiotic, eye cream, noTHING> it drains very little and is very sore most of the time. what causes this andhow can it be healed?

the sore has caused the left eye ball which is the sore one to protrude making it bigger than the right eye. His eye becomes sore and swollen that he can’t see with it and it also gives him very bad head aches and makes him very sick. the ophthalmologist had mentioned that the headaches can cause damage to the brain also, because of the vein connections from the eye to the brain etc.

I had cataract surgery about a year and a half ago and have noticed that I have dry eye worse than before the surgery. This started after menopause, and I suspect the Minocycline works because there is slight swelling to all aspects of my face, including the inside of my nose. Parts of my eye must be swollen as well. At a lower dose my eye problems returned. I was hoping this thread had diagnosis and other treatments. Good luck to you all.
no stye, no chalizon (sp?), but just swollen thickened eyelids..and sore when I blink...sometimes there appears to be a nodule (looks like a very small little whitehead pimple) that appears on the inner rim of my eyelids just prior to them swelling up..but I have confirmed with eye doctor that it is not a eyes also become very dry when they do also moves eye to eye or can just be in 1 or can be in both at the same time..and goes away as fast as it comes..
I also had a terrible headache that was like my migraines behind the right eye, pain coming up from my neck behind the ear and to my eye, sore neck. they gave me toradol for the headache which helped minimal, and when I got home I took Lortab which helped more. now my right eyelid is swollen.
This week my right eye above the eyelid suddenly turned purple, the eye itself has redness, and the temple is swollen. the bump(s) have now merged into one bump, which has moved down lower closer to my right eye. the one that is turning purple. . When I went to the eye doctor, at the recommendation of my general GP, he found that my vision had not been impaired. However, he did say it looked like a "burst blood vessel". I am having a CAT scan tomorrow.
