solumedrol

1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar n tn Sister had ITP, platelet count 2 when found. Hospitalized & given IV solumedrol in massive doses which saved her life. On prednisone after for a while. She can handle the diabetes connection. Unfortunately, continues to have psychotic effects almost 2 years later: voices & people when none there, bouts of extreme anxiety and multiple other symptoms. Acts as if suddenly struck with alzheimers. Can this be from the solumedrol IV & then prednisonne?
Avatar n tn I used them monthly for over a year with Rebif. I also was not given a taper dose. I began with three infusions every four weeks then went to three infusions every four weeks. Nothing slowed my symptoms down. I did use five days of Actar Gel but it didn't work for me. I guess my body just began rejecting the steroids. Long story short I began Tysabri. I had my first dose. I ended up in the hospital for thirty days. I was given IVSM again.
Avatar f tn My understanding is (and hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong) that IV solumedrol is of the most use within the first weeks of a relapse. In the area where I live, steroid use for relapse is waning. There is quite a bit of research showing the in most cases, the relapse length is only marginally shortened. Given the risks (blood sugar issues, bone density changes), steroids are no longer given automatically. I would consider it if I lost vision.
Avatar f tn I have a 9 month old Baby boy, past tuesday we went to the ER because a fever and cough, after the respiratory therapies and solumedrol they took a blood sample of my baby and the sugar levels were very high I believe (229) and the doctor said it was because of the solumedrol, after that it never was lower than 120-123 even without eating for 5 hours. I like to know if this is normal or i should go to a specialist? Thanks for you help.
749318 tn?1233191768 First of all I was surprised I thought that I would be at my relative healthiest during this time, but obviously I was wrong, Now they want me to go on a three day run of iv solumedrol treatments and I am wondering if anyone has an experience or knowledge of such issues.
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
Avatar f tn I just read some stuff Quix posted in 2008 about having solumedrol at home...scary. Today I went to the neuro and he said I am getting worse. I knew I had 2 new lesions, but some other things have been happening. He gave me an order to have home health come and do it, but unless they administer it and stay with me each of the 3 days, I think I'd rather be more comfortable at the hospital as out patient as I usually do. Tomorrow I also get to go get a foot brace for drop foot..how fun.
503486 tn?1340976774 I took metheltrexate with my last relapse. It was given in addition to the solumedrol. I felt realy aweful during the treatment and for about 3 days after, but it really worked. I am in remission,a nd feeling good. I took the the middle of last month. I hopw this helps. I pray thatyou have a good experience.
Avatar f tn t stop that abrupty, Im taking Solumedrol 125 mg IV for 5 days and they stop me just like that, its that safe because I can have very severe withdralls :S
97654 tn?1214348650 At one point this was happening about 15 times per day. I took a round of Solumedrol (3 days) and began taking 300 mg of Lyrica per day. It now happens 4 or 5 times per week. My doctor prescribed another round of Solumedrol which is scheduled for next week (30 days from the first one). I am trying to decide whether I want to do the 2nd round of Solumedrol. It made me feel horrible and was a miserable 4 or 5 days.
Avatar f tn I had a 4 day Solumedrol drip and then step down pack in February and it made me worse. All my muscles tightened up and I have more pain than I did before. Call it a major fibromyalgia attack. Even now in May, I am still as stiff and woozy as i was after the glucocorticoid therapy. Sigh. Did nothing for me that I can tell. I did sweat a lot during the treatment so maybe i lost a few toxins?
Avatar f tn t help, so I had the 3 day mega dose IV solumedrol. I did not do the tapering off pills, because I was having a reaction to the medicine. Since the end of February my ankles are swollen everyday, all day. I asked my neurologist, and she said it is a side effect of the solumedrol. Any one else experience this.....swollen ankles for so long? When will they return to normal? Help please. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...
Avatar f tn Im tired of people calling asking if im in labor yet.. im 9 days past due and no signs of approaching labor yet... hang in there and as soon as you say fine i give up it will happen. Just let your body do what its sopposed to.
1580703 tn?1651904887 s 600-625 for a few weeks. when I took prednisone and solumedrol I came down with sore throat and a bad infection that didn't respond to antibiotics and lasted 1 month. I am still wheezing several months later. what could have caused this and what can I do to treat it? the doctor seems to say it is due to vocal chord problems. I noticed on 40-50mg of prednisone a day my FVC increased from 70 to 80. thanks so much!
Avatar f tn I am very nervous though about the infusion therapy. I know when they have given me a steriod injection for injuries in the past I have had really bad pain from them and very little relief. I am told this is totally different than the type they inject for injuries but I still could use some reinforcement before I totally agree to start this on Monday. Any advice would be great. I do hope everyone is well! I will try to check in more often.
Avatar f tn I am 23 years old. I have relapsing-remitting MS and was given Macrobid for a UTI. After my first day of Macrobid, my entire left side has gone numb and i have lost function in it. I do know that the weakness and numbness in one side can be caused by the MS, but it did not occur until i took the macrobid. I was stopped from taking the macrobid and started on it 2 more times and each time the weakness returned. Is there anyway to fix this?
195469 tn?1388322888 These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down. Here where we live in Virginia, they will not do a treatment, if your blood sugar level is about 200. This is a good drug, but very hard on someone that is prone to high blood pressure and high blood sugar.
