Avatar f tn I was on SoluMedrol? for a 5 day dose last month. It took approx 1 week to 10 days to get me back to my normal. When i was first dx, I took this and I hand alot of energy. This past time I was recovery from gallbladder surgery and went into a bad relapse and the med just got me back to where I was before my surgery. Everyone is different on how they react to the meds.
Avatar f tn I have vasculitis and was in the hospital on 150 mg IV Solumedrol for 1 week and have been on 80mg a day since Oct. 6th. I have the abd bloating, moon face and hump neck and shoulders. I know it is the side effects but was wondering if anyone has any ideas for relief of it. My back hurts as well I do use a heating pad on it and sometimes it helps but the neck, shoulders, and stomach are so uncomfortable. Does anyone do anything that helps with this?
Avatar n tn On prednisone after for a while. She can handle the diabetes connection. Unfortunately, continues to have psychotic effects almost 2 years later: voices & people when none there, bouts of extreme anxiety and multiple other symptoms. Acts as if suddenly struck with alzheimers. Can this be from the solumedrol IV & then prednisonne? Saved her life but cost her her mind. Any ideas?
341655 tn?1240368839 I have been on prednisone for 1 month now, 5 days of IV solumedrol and now i'm on a maintenance of 80mg of pred. I'm having severe side effects and don't know how to deal with them. *leg swelling *night sweats *severe mood swings *uncontrolled hunger *severe body pain any advice on how to cut down on some of the symptoms?
Avatar f tn I felt better with the solumedrol treatment after 2 days - the numbness did recede, but the "wierd" feet feeling didn't go away. My balance improved greatly as well as the other symptoms I was experiencing.
Avatar m tn i have a PICC line as I have been going through a 2 mnth relapse with my MS and I finally gave in and went to the hospital....of course it is solumedrol pumping through it but its way different than when I had an IV port last year...question though; I feel so dizzy and have feelings l want to pass out at times even though I don't pass out. is it because of the PICC with solumedrol that is giving me a different experience?
Avatar m tn I know what you mean about steroids, hate them too. I had to take solumedrol over the holidays and I am still feeling the effects. They gave me zanax for the anxiety. My shrink said that there is something called steroid psychosis. He said that is what I was experiencing. I was really depressed. I am not sure how long they stay in your system but they do reek havoc. Quix gave the best advice of drinking super amounts of water. I drank about 2 and 1/2 l's a day.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Your asthma was clearly uncontrolled and it may well have been necessary for your doctor to have prescribed prednisone/solumedrol. You may have been predisposed to the throat infection by the steroids or the infection may have caused both the sore throat and aggravated the asthma. We can only speculate on the preceding. The good news is that the infection finally seems to have resolved.
1842804 tn?1319756311 I had a bad reaction - suicidal while on oral prednisone years ago, so vowed to avoid it as much as possible. I am even afraid to take prednisone to taper the effects. Any suggestions? ... Its been 5 days after my treatment so I don't want to start all over again with the side effects ...
Avatar f tn I am having my first of three solumedrol infusions today and it's been a while. Does anyone how long it takes for the steroids to level off in your system and how long they stay there?
Avatar f tn I was admitted into the hospital for infusion, 2 days of 325 mg solumedrol and 3 days of 1000 mg solumedrol. I was then discharged on another 4 week oral schedule of prednisone of which I'm on week one, 60 mg/day. This second time, the infusion saved my right ear. Or seems to have, so far. It has done nothing for the headache though. After my first Abomb (1000 mg dose), my headache initially did ease up, but not go away. However, it hasn't eased up at all since that one time.
Avatar n tn How often is she thinking she might need the steroid?? Her doctor might presribe prednisone for her to take while she is visiting. Has she asked? Hope any of this helps.
Avatar n tn I had one of two treatment options IV solumedrol again or I could try oral prednisone, this is the option I choose for now, because I had many side effects from the solumedrol. I had to go on insulin, it made my gallbladder go bad and I had to have it removed, I also developed hospital acquired pneumonia from my immune system not working, and I also had lots of problems sleeping. Also this time I have heaviness in my legs with muscle twitching.
Avatar n tn t take prednisone due to psychotic behavior when on prednisone/solumedrol)...What will it take for rheumy to confirm definitely sclerodoma. I also have issues related to sclerodoma affecting mixed connective tissue, sjogrens, polymyositis, and chronic reflux, neuropathy (but also have MS); also have extensive esophageous inflammation. Seems like each specialist I see the ywant me to see someone else.
Avatar f tn Adding on a welcome to you too! I was dx'd with MS last year, but have not been on the solumedrol for a flare. I hope those who have will come to your rescue with some info on those bright lights. My only experience was with 1 dose of the stuff, and follow up with prednisone (it was for an allergic reaction) and with how it makes you feel, I can't imagine a whole bag of the stuff. Is it working for your flare? Have you mentioned the light sensitivity to your Dr at all?
400099 tn?1282954864 I had this happen when I was on advair and an antibiotic at the same time. I had to go to my PCP for some other medication for the thrush. I am not a Doctor but I have not heard of Copaxone doing this. Copaxone on rare occassions can cause the salivary gland under the tongue to swell. I had this but it did not effect my taste.
Avatar f tn Hi all - Curious if anyone has experienced problems with erratic bms while taking IVSM and prednisone? Finished my 5 day IV and now on day 3 of prednisone taper. The first 3 days I couldn't go at all now I'm going 3-4 times a day. Unfortunately this is causing my nether-regions a bit of discomfort and anxiety on my part not knowing which potty break will be a controlled action or surprise attack!!
Avatar f tn My only problem right now is vision loss. I have had 3 days IV solumedrol and am now on oral prednisone. Has anyone else had the vision problem and how long did it take for improvement or did it improve at all? I'm new to all this.
Avatar n tn I injured my leg and took prednisone for1wk. The day after I came off prednisone, I got another clot. Is the something I could have done differently?
Avatar m tn So i was feeling a lot better on 100mcg, than I am on 112mcg. Could the prednisone effect the conversion of T3 to T4. all my doctors said no.
Avatar f tn The last day of the oral Prednisone was yesterday, Saturday. Once again, it had already seemed to stop working, as I felt pressure building up in my ear, nose and some teeth, plus of course the jawbone. I got a call from the ER Saturday morning, telling me they'd done a culture and found bacteria in my blood. Had to go back, basically for 2 1/2 hours of nothing.
Avatar f tn Two days before I went to the ER, I saw my PCP and she put me on 10mgs of prednisone once a day for 30 days, and told me to return when I'm out. She sounded very concerned about prescribing high doses of steroids because of the blood sugar problems, and other stuff, and I never got the chance to ask her why she wanted me on this every day regimen. I was just one big mess that day! Is anyone else taking Prednisone on a daily basis?
649926 tn?1297657780 The ONTT also showed that while use of IV steroids appeared to protect against the immediate conversion from a CIS to full-blown MS (within the first couple years), the protection did not hold up in the long term. It is commonly misunderstood that use of IV steroids preserves vision in the long run. this has not been found to be true. But, it can relieve acute pain and acute vision loss. Here is a quote from eMedicine - "Optic Neuritis, Adult" from Medscape.
