solumedrol

97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
5538989 tn?1514398453 I found the forum a couple of months ago when searching if Copaxone increases blood sugars. The thread I found was from 2008. My sugars have been so under control and no AIC's over 5.4. I was off meds for a month after my the delivery of my daughter and was still so under control that my PCP decided not to refill my Rx. After 3 months of Copaxone my morning fasting sugar is still high anywhere from 120-150.
Avatar f tn ve been off the solumedrol for 8 days. I was on it for 10 for an MS attack. (a nightmare in and of itself) and my whole neck, chest, arms stomach are covered in hives. Is this from the Sol? My doctor is useless and didn't warn me about ANY of the side effects or check up on me during the treatment. I had to leave 3 messages just to get a call back when I was all done. Uuugghh I hate docs. Coming off was even worse than being on them. Rapid heart, dizziness, HOT flashes.
Avatar m tn i have a PICC line as I have been going through a 2 mnth relapse with my MS and I finally gave in and went to the hospital....of course it is solumedrol pumping through it but its way different than when I had an IV port last year...question though; I feel so dizzy and have feelings l want to pass out at times even though I don't pass out. is it because of the PICC with solumedrol that is giving me a different experience?
Avatar f tn Day two of three days--infusion at home went fine this morning. I felt just as bad as ever yesterday, and still weak in my left leg when I got up this morning, but I actually think I'm starting to feel better. I do have more energy (though that could just be the side effects of the meds) and I'm walking straight up and down (or very nearly) instead of leaning to the right because of the weakness on my left leg.
1172359 tn?1310667693 Do you have a diagnosis that warrants steroid treatment? If you do not have a diagnosis, please use caution when considering steroid treatment. Steroids suppress the immune system, which is helpful in clearing inflammation. If the inflammation is the result of bad autoimmune activity, the risk of weakening the immune system may be worth it for the benefit.
Avatar f tn t stop that abrupty, Im taking Solumedrol 125 mg IV for 5 days and they stop me just like that, its that safe because I can have very severe withdralls :S
1468406 tn?1286489142 Hi I am on my 5 dsy of solumedrol and cortesoin infuson, to tell the truth I feel very zoned out and weird but I think its par for ythe course, had anyone else also been foen here, I need advise, sorry just thought I'd hre
195469 tn?1388322888 These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down. Here where we live in Virginia, they will not do a treatment, if your blood sugar level is about 200. This is a good drug, but very hard on someone that is prone to high blood pressure and high blood sugar.
1218288 tn?1266606172 Help! I've had numbness on left side of face and complete loss of hearing in left ear (except for a high pitched ringing) for 4 weeks. I had vertigo for the first 2 weeks. Planning on starting solumedrol i.v. as soon as a bladder infection is cleared up. Has anyone lost hearing during an exacerbation?
Avatar n tn If your depression is severe, you should call the neuro that ordered the SoluMedrol. I did not suffer depression while on it, but I did have disassociation and knew my thinking process was out of whack. I didn't like the feeling and did not trust myself to be alone. Everything went well, but it was scary for a while. I believe there should be better warning about the side effects and what to do about them............like call the doctor. Sorry I can't offer more info.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in 2000 with MS, and for years I have been getting IV Solu-medrol treatments every other month, for three days. Is it possible this affects my menstrual cycle? Can Solu-medrol cause not building up the endometrium? Don't worry, I have had all tests: blood, bone density, ultrasound, pregnancy, and I am very healthy: un-pregnant, taking birth control, and so on. I "only" have MS. My period doesn't happen and I am way too young for menopause.
97654 tn?1214348650 At one point this was happening about 15 times per day. I took a round of Solumedrol (3 days) and began taking 300 mg of Lyrica per day. It now happens 4 or 5 times per week. My doctor prescribed another round of Solumedrol which is scheduled for next week (30 days from the first one). I am trying to decide whether I want to do the 2nd round of Solumedrol. It made me feel horrible and was a miserable 4 or 5 days.
Avatar f tn I had a 4 day Solumedrol drip and then step down pack in February and it made me worse. All my muscles tightened up and I have more pain than I did before. Call it a major fibromyalgia attack. Even now in May, I am still as stiff and woozy as i was after the glucocorticoid therapy. Sigh. Did nothing for me that I can tell. I did sweat a lot during the treatment so maybe i lost a few toxins?
Avatar f tn s office and was told that the Solumedrol is in your system for about 10 days but my symptoms would be noted and related to t he neuro...never heard back from them of course. The pain in my head has returned intermittently but usually only lasts a day at a time...the final IV infusion did nothing to rectify the pain...it was just time as usual.
Avatar f tn To help with sudden and severe balance problems, and leg weakness in January, I had the mega dose oral steroids for 3 days followed by the taper off. That didn't help, so I had the 3 day mega dose IV solumedrol. I did not do the tapering off pills, because I was having a reaction to the medicine. Since the end of February my ankles are swollen everyday, all day. I asked my neurologist, and she said it is a side effect of the solumedrol. Any one else experience this.....
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, As far as i'm aware IV solumedrol and Copaxone are often being done together, i've never personally heard of specific interaction problems, usually the choices you get is to stay on Copaxone and do the IV Steroid (with or without oral taper) or stay on Copaxone and skip the Steroids if it's not a major relapse.
1740498 tn?1328962585 I have monthly infusions of the solumedrol and i always have the day of peeing. It is annoying but I usually feel better. I hope that is all that it is. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn Okay, I've had MS for 13 years. I was just taken off Tysabri in July, I was on that for almost 5 years. I now have to go on Gylena in January, but before I start the new drug...I have to do 6 months of iv steroids. 3 days every month with NO taper! I have just finished my second round...and I'm ready to through in the towel. The side affects of the steroids are at this point almost not worth doing. They are trying to prevent a relapse since I am not on any MS therapy.
Avatar f tn How long does it take for blood sugars to go back to normal after getting off solumedrol? This is 4th day without dose and sugars still elevated - still jittery inside, palpitations, irritable, and hungry. I will not take this stuff again. Still have on pain - didn't even work. I've worked too hard to get weight down and blood sugars to mess it up for 3 days of steroids.
Avatar f tn I started rebif and solumedrol at the same time in July, but call your doctor.. Are call the MS lifelines??
Avatar n tn I just finished yet another five course today and frankly I had hugs melt down scared my caegiver.. and fnally made th eprimary car e doc understand thath 72 hours of mania, depression, wailing, and all that jazz was no acceptable. This is the first time I have dome them in a home setting versus in patient..could that be afcator? or am I just a little nutty...
