Avatar n tn I'm wondering if there's any research supporting a link between solodyn and eye floaters. I was on Solodyn for about 2 months and my vision deteriorated over the same period of time. I have pretty severe floaters that distract me in reading and computer use. Previously a little farsighted but not requiring glasses. Optometrist says the back of my eye looks like "a spiderweb." No retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, etc.
Avatar n tn no results Abt two months ago, I was prescribed Solodyn, I use neutrogena creamy wash, Retin-A and some hydroquinone for the dark spots. The solodyn make me break out in a HEAP of HIVES !! so I stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago and now I have been prescribe Bactrim? It seems that antibiotics are the ONLY thing that cure my acne since I have really oily skin. The topicals dry it out in the beginning, and I only apply a little, but then my sebaceous glands quickly make up for the lack of oil.
Avatar m tn I just found out that I am 6-7 weeks pregnant and I took Solodyn 115mg for the first month of my pregnancy! I am really scared that this might have harmed my baby. All the websites say to avoid becoming pregnant while taking Solodyn because it has been shown to cause harm to the human fetus. Has anyone been in this situation?
Avatar f tn You condition is very difficult to control. You really need to do lid hygiene and periodically use a topical antibiotic (Azasite works well). You may now have a chalazion. This can slowly decrease in size without surgery. However, the chance for this is better with control of the blepharitis. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn I saw a dermatologist and he said that it was folliculitis and prescribed me solodyn (minocyciline). The sores on my lips usually last a week, but I usually pop them and they are sore, but no blood or pus comes out. They heal and have dissapeared, but for a little redness that you can't really see unless you look closely in the mirror. Is there still a chance that this is herpes?
Avatar f tn If someone had hiv would it take two years or could it have been a reaction to the medication solodyn which does have a side effect of joint pain. I have been tested several times since that encounter and my hiv test even up to febuary when I got sick was negative and the three previous tests before that were negative.
Avatar f tn I was dx'd (very surprised about this) with Rosacea and given Oracea 40 mg to take once a day. By day 8, my intestines were saying 'no way'. My derm's P/A said to stop the med. What are my options. I've made a follow up with my derm, who is only in the area a few times a week, and would like to be prepared to help make decisions. My concern is my nose. I had pointed out to him, during my full body check, some pinkie tip sized indentations on my nose.
1094941 tn?1264559085 Hi. I went to the dermatologist and he said it was Perioral Dermatitis. I mentioned to him I also had a rash on my hand and some itching on my legs but he didin't say anything about that. He prescribed Solodyn and the Duac gel. I took the Solodyn for a week and had extreme itching so I called the office and was told to stop that med. The duac gel seems to be working well. Now, my problem is that I still have extreme itching on my neck and legs. My neck is awful!
Avatar m tn In February, I got retested again and it came back negative for both. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me solodyn (minocycline) for folliculitis and said that most likely that is what it is. Recently I experienced the same bumps on the same side of my lower lip where my lip meets my skin. I went to get it tested today and the doctor did not test for herpes, but said that it most likely was herpes.
Avatar n tn I know this is bad, but I self prescribed some meds - my kid had it for acne. Solodyn = Minocycline. Been taking it about 3 days. Will that help. Internet said it was good for UTI and clamidia.
Avatar n tn Went back to him and he prescribed me epiduo with solodyn. After a few weeks i had tiny red spots on my face and huge pimples. I tried proactive as well and that didnt work. After that i told him the situation over the phone and he said to continue the solodyn with epiduo. i did for another month and nothing happened. He now switced me to cephalaxin and i have been on it for about three days. my whole face now has tiny pimples starting to emerge in areas i never have had them before.
Avatar m tn After taking a quick look, he was pretty convinced it was some form of yeast, gave me Ketoconazole cream and 30 days of Oracea. I applied the cream in the morning and before bed, and did 40mg of Oracea. At the end of the month, there was zero difference, the skin around the corners of my nose still looks red (exactly like the pictures in the first post). Still seeking help! Somebody out there must have had this problem and found a cure!
Avatar m tn The steroid in Tobradex may help short term, but this is not a long-term solution. Oracea is a slow release form of Doxy type drug and has less side effects. However, many insurances will not cover it. Topical Azasite if very effective. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn I recently came off a 3-month long session of Solodyn for a skin condition I was diagnosed with over the summer. Prior to that, I had been on antibiotics for a severe colds, twice and have gotten yeast infections twice due to those antibiotics, so it was inevitable that I was going to get another yeast infection after I finished the Solodyn.
Avatar m tn I have also been on Doxy 100 Mg for about a month now because of bacterial follicilitus on my thighs which does not seem to be working. My derm has put me on Solodyn now, I'm just wondering what test I should take to test for Lyme and if I should stop taking my antibiotics to test for it. Please help.
Avatar f tn Spironolactone. Girls can take it, not boys. That is the key to cystic acne for girls. All hormonal based. I'm 49 and have had them since 17 years old. Still get them, but only once a year. Taking Solodyn 105 mg. with it, too. That's a high dose, but necessary (weigh 135lbs). Spironolactone comes in 25mg pills. One pill a day is not enough! That won't fix anything. I take 100 mg a day to maintain. 50 mg in the morning and 50mg at night.

493068 tn?1224765315 I should have said I see a dermotologist and take Oracea. It is my eyes that this pain is just more than I can handle. I take the 50 mg. of Doxycycline, Erythromycin Ointment at night and during days of extreme pain. I also use Travatan and use Restasis. and yesterday the opthamologist doctor put me on Lotemax. I can see some better today but still have full blown rosacea in both eyes...To live with pain in your eyes you can not escape it. Do you know of anything we are missing?
Avatar m tn It is a prescription. You can also try low dose Doxycycline. It is call ORACEA but I think there is a generic now. I read that it won't cause resistant bacteria but I prefer to use Finacea since it is not an antibiotic. It does sting a bit when you first put it on. It will cause redness but shouldn't cause bumps or pimples though it is a side effect. I have found out my problem is that the new cleanser I have has alcohol in it. That causes problems.
Avatar m tn I am now on Oracea daily and Biafine. I have been off of the steroid cream for about 3 months now. I am desperate. I'm starting to think my blood vessels may have suffered permanent damage in my neck. Is this hopeless? Will the blood vessels eventually go back to normal so my neck will no longer be red?
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with HS about two years ago. It started as a few small pimples on my thighs and then under my armpits that eventually turned into nasty, inflamed, infected boils. This went on and off for a few months. My dermatologist injected corisone directly into the boils/bumps and put me on doxycycline, then oracea for about six months total.
Avatar f tn 05% a sodium, sulfacetamide 10%, sulfur 5% cleanser, solodyn 55mg pills to control my acne and sunscreen but yet again (surprise surprise) didn't help with the hyper pigmentation. I have fair skin and it makes the hyper pigmentation appear darker than it is because of the contrast. Right now I added kojic acid to my routine and been using it everyday for 3 days but haven't been noticing a big change and I'm not sure if it is working or not.
Avatar n tn That is an antibidoic, which can effect your cylcle. That explains why your period was off. Remember, antibidoics can cancel out your birthcontrol making you more succeptible to becoming pregnant.
