148588 tn?1465778809 I'm trying to buy solar panels and a wind turbine to power my car but Autozone told me to go pound sand and buy gas like everyone else.
535822 tn?1443976780 Wind farms along with solar power and other alternative energy sources, are supposed to produce the energy of tomorrow..Much evidence indicates that their countless whirring fan blades produce something else: blank spots that distort radar readings. Now government agencies that depend on radar---such as the National Defence dept and the weather service are scrambling and spending Millions to preserve their detection abilities... here we go yet again ....
541150 tn?1306033843 I am an electrical engineer and work for the wind business. We basically perform real time plant performance operations and we do a lot of monitoring and prevention through prediction. It isn't boring and it's a 12 hour job. We are the owners of over 8,000 wind turbines now around the US and Canada. We are the second, most largest wind power provider in the world, so GO USA!!!! The number one wind company in the world is Iberdrola, in Spain.
148588 tn?1465778809 The study, which examined five locales nationwide including Westchester, found that as solar panels and solar panel and battery systems — which can cost in the low- to mid-five figures but are currently heavily subsidized by governments at the state and federal levels — become cheaper, the economic incentive to adopt will grow. Prices, the study found, will hold steady around 20 cents per kilowatt hour, with grid-only prices to jump to 40 cents by 2040.
148588 tn?1465778809 Boone Pickens is also investing a chunk of his money in alternative energy sources like solar and wind farms (more specifically). With that, petroleum products are very much a part of those philosophies as well.
163305 tn?1333668571 The total amount of energy auctioned was 867 MW and GE secured 63 percent of the auction capacity. GE will provide 1.7-100 and 1.85-82.5 turbines for wind farms developed by Casa dos Ventos, Eletrosul, Contour Global, CEEE, PEC, Rio Energy and Chesf in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia and Piau . GE also will service the wind turbines for 10 years as part of an operations and maintenance agreement that includes an availability guarantee for the 26 wind farms. http://finance.
148588 tn?1465778809 Solar and wind power for all. But just don't ruin my view when you put up those wind turbines.
Avatar m tn [3] The proton storms are produced in the solar wind, and hence present a hazard to astronauts during interplanetary travel. Most proton storms take two or more hours from the time of visual detection to reach Earth's orbit. A solar flare on January 20, 2005 released the highest concentration of protons ever directly measured,[4] taking only 15 minutes after observation to reach Earth, indicating a velocity of approximately one-half light speed. http://en.wikipedia.
148588 tn?1465778809 We are investing more into wind and solar. A few of the nation's oil and gas guys are BIG into wind farms. There are some down sides though, and if you're concerned about the environment there is a price to pay. There is tons of toxic waste created from the production of solar panels. Wind farms are killing birds and displacing wildlife and there are studies being conducted on the impact of the production of the windmills themselves.
148588 tn?1465778809 In that same article I'd mentioned, there was a bit on how much electricity produced by solar and wind that actually made the grid. I don't remember the numbers but it was kind of sad. Nowadays things are far better and a lot more juice is reaching the grid. Just goes to show you how technology can jump leaps and bounds in a decade or two. No doubt we have to do something and I am all ears on ideas.
Avatar n tn in fact if I feel my heart skip, low and behold there is a lil nodule by my solar plexus that I push back and then I breathe and feel perfect. Please all of you check for Hiatal Hernia and then see if this is perhaps what going down with you.. The device developed to provide rural children quality education will also work on a solar-power option.
163305 tn?1333668571 So we don't use oil for energy...what do we use? Unreliable wind power? Or unreliable and expensive solar power? What if a building is too close to the solar panels and starts on fire? What if we put up a lot of wind turbines and they fall over? You can come up with a downside to ever source of energy, but guess what oil is what we use and while we develop other sources to cut us off oil is suicide.
306867 tn?1299249709 I do know that some power sources such as using wind or solar power are showing to be viable and should be further researched and some farms use windmills to generate some of their electrical power already and some buildings have solar panels to generate sources of clean energy. I well understand people's concerns about finances but other than that to me it makes common sense if there were no public pressure should as within the cap and trade regulations.
1173196 tn?1292916490 I am an electrical engineer and monitor all of our wind turbines in USA and Canada. The job is pretty exciting. We get to operate wind turbines from one control center in Florida. We have about 70 sites now, and are currently building some solar plants in Spain. Since the sites are not manned at night, a crew must be here 24/7. There are 13 of us, all engineers…but young and full of new ideas so we are all dying to do something else since we’ve been doing this for over 2 years already.
1310633 tn?1430224091 SUNNY SPELLS, BREEZY Obama has promised more assistance for solar and wind technology, though he will need congressional support to extend tax breaks that help those industries. "Obama can love solar as much as he wants, but I don't know that a whole lot more is going to happen in terms of new, constructive policy," said Morningstar analyst Stephen Simko.
Avatar f tn s original intent -- solar energy projects, wind energy projects and any other alternative type of energy is absolutely necessary, if the US is stop being dependent on foreign oil; however, I stand by what I said before: If they'd have used the $787 billion they spent on the bail out, we might already have new jobs being created; people might already have gone back to work; there might be less pollution; our country might be safer.
148588 tn?1465778809 s the case, it provides an opportunity for crowdsourced solar projects (using services like Mosaic and Divvy) and community solar projects to drive the initiative of shared solar energy. 9.
649848 tn?1534633700 Oil and coal are where you are probably mostly powering your homes right now unless you are completley off the grid and have your own solar/wind farm or rely on nuclear power. China is in the bogus shape it is because there are no regulations. None from production, importation, or use of oil and oil products. It's purchase and consume at will. In the mean time, they are buying random energy companies all over the globe. (A few in Canada just in the last couple of weeks to a month.

163305 tn?1333668571 And I meant that in the nicest possible way;-) It's supposed to be gorgeous here in Houston. Teko... you should come here and watch it with me. I'll even make up my spare room for you to stay in and I'll put you up for the night. We can drive down to Galveston and sit on the beach and watch it together, all the while, arguing politics and at each other's throats. Doesn't that sound like fun?!?
