social anxiety zoloft forums

I'm hoping someone here can help, perhaps a Ph.D. or someone with knowledge/experience of medicines-- I have been diagnosed ADHD since I was a little kid (early grade school) and diagnosed with social anxiety at 17yrs old (towards the end of high school). I've been on and off multiple medicines for both (I've been on 5-10 different drugs; see my personal feedback below on some of the meds if you are interested in that information). I also very much think I have OCD.

What would be the better medication for depression, anxiety, and social anxiety. Effexor xr or Zoloft.

Im on these medications strictly for anxiety not depression. The medicine calms down a lot of my muscle twitches I get from social anxiety. I notice on the zoloft I have trouble sleeping and hate how I have to limit my drinking (since im 21). And sometime I slip and have more than 2 beers (which was my doctors limit on zoloft). I love the zanex because it makes me so much more social and clears all my physical symptoms. Is there any way to tell my doctor I would rather just stay on the zanex??

I was diagnosed with social anxiety and generalized anxiety. I have trouble leaving my house and if I do I experience shaking, cold sweats, dizziness and nausea and vomiting. My psychiatrist recommended propanolol and Zoloft.

Today I was prescribed Zoloft for my Social Anxiety. And I want to know what kind of experiences other people had/have with this medication.

Hello, My 15 year old has been diagnosed with anxiety and agorophobia, will not go to school and is avoiding other social situations. Doctor prescribed Zoloft I am wondering if anyone has tried a vitamin instead? if so which one and what was your outcome. Am i better off just giving her the Zoloft?

D.(Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and Social Phobia and panic attacks. I did the same thing, and it was a mistake.....I believe you should go back to the doctor and see what they say. It may be helpful to try taking the meds at a lower dose than before and/or trying a different medication.

I would recommend counseling to help you deal with your anxiety. It's common to have a sick stomach when you have anxiety because of excess stomach acid. Ask your Dr if it's safe for you to take something for this before and during your pregnancy.

Hi I have anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks and depression. Its been extremely bad lately. Waking up at night with drenching sweats. I too am hyperglycemic so I always keep candy on hand. I rarely have had to take xanax but take it alot lately. Was on leaxpro for about 7-8 yrs and recently switched to ZOLOFT and love it. Just want to say hi!

It sounds like your daughter could be suffering from social anxiety. If she has been on the Zoloft for 5 months and has noticed no improvement, then it's time to think about trying something different, Has she also been in therapy this whole time as well? Since this began when she was quite young and you mentioned sleepovers, makes me wonder if this may have it's roots in seperation anxiety. These are only my thoughts, I am not a doctor and am not offering a diagnosis of any sort.

hi, i am on clonazepam and zoloft as well. i have started zoloft 50mg, and i take klonopin for anxiety attacks, 0.25 x 3 daily.

I have been reading a lot of peoples stories but I have not seen anyone that only takes Zoloft because of panic attacks and social anxiety so I am wondering if there is anyone else out there like me??? I am also wondering if anyone has successfully quit taking the Zoloft and living a "normal" life without moving on to something else???

I am so tired of my posts being moved to different forums. Especially since I am on the phone app and can not follow my own post because they were moved to social. This is the 18-24 age group and I feel like I should be able to post anything pregnancy related. I know several of you mommas feel the same! So frustrating!

I'm currently on Effexor XR 75mg for Social anxiety disorder how ever, I'm thinking of switching over to Zoloft with less side effects.

Im 16 and have had General anxiety for a while then I grew into social anxiety which is mild everywhere but highschool :/ So I guesse my questions are Have you experienced this with SSRI'S? Is it normal or should I ask my doc to go back to my low dose? Also do you think Id benefit with klonopin prn I tend to get seriouse anxiety at time in school its alot worse then summer socially then generally.

I have suffered from what I seem to think is social anxiety/phobia. When I am in the public eye I feel like everyone is looking at me and talking about me. Sometimes I get so bad I have to leave the public situation immediately. Sometimes I won't leave my home for days and here lately weeks. (Recently lost my job) If I do need to go to the store I will take my brother with me so he can go in and get what I need.

My abnormal anxiety issues are limited to social anxiety, a vague, but intense fear of social situations, new people, and new places. It used to be quite pervasive growing up, but now I can do a lot of things without anxiety, like go to a restaurant with family. It is the new and unfamiliar I still struggle with. I was all safe in my reclusion until recently I have had the desire to expand my life- I want friends and to get out in the world. An opportunity presented itself.

i cant reaally focus on anything for more than 5 minutes so i think the zoloft is bringing up some ADD or something. zoloft hasnt done anything for my social anxiety and now i realize the anxiety is why im feeling depressed. Lexapro is mainly used to treat major depression in adolescents and anxiety in adults. Zoloft has wider applications in post-traumatic stress disorder, OCD, anxiety, and depression. Luvox, Lexapro and Zoloft are all antidepressants and are known as serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). All three are longer acting SSRIs, but have different half lives, different pharmacokinetics etc so can show difference in side effects and withdrawal symptoms.

s just my over active nervous system/anxiety. I just started taking zoloft a week ago and am hoping that I will find releif from the terrible anxiety I've began suffering this past year. Do you have ativan or another benzo you can take when the vibrations bother you at night? Not sleeping seems to make everything worse. I hope you find some releif soon!
