404138 tn?1308941656 Ive been working on breathing techniques, meditation, visualization and now applied relaxation training....its supposed to be more effective and faster for relieving anxiety? Anyone try this?
18251556 tn?1463792320 In fact, I could care less about being embarrassed or people thinking poorly of me. Yet, I still get social anxiety when facing social situations. What could be the cause of this?
Avatar f tn I use to think i just had a bubbly personality i still do but i can see im also very anxious, i have social anxiety so i get nervous talking w new people or in large groups. Any suggestions, breathing or techniques i could try, any particular councelors i could be seen for this.
Avatar m tn It sounds like social anxiety, and yes, many of us have that. I've you're doing well on your meds it might be best to leave things alone. Of course only you and your Dr can make that decision. Your Dr may let you take an extra small dose of Xanax on occasion when you have to speak in public. Is this part of your job if you don't mind my asking?
Avatar f tn Im dealing with social anxiety for a long time please help me to find how I can deal with it?
Avatar m tn My anxiety is extreme so I have been doing 2 to 4 meditation and relaxation sessions a day for 3 weeks. After a few I felt better, most I felt nothing and one greatly increased my anxiety. I have tied CBT and all the other ways to calm the nervous system and am scared this one is not working so far. Even though I had a brief time of relief after a few I am still in total anxiety nervous system hell 24/7. shouldn't I be feeling some relief by now.
Avatar f tn Hi I am 35 years old and I have been having anxiety attacks for about 5 years now. They are really bad and it is hard for me to go anywhere or talk to anyone. I am afraid that I will have an anxiety attack around other people. I was never like this, I used to work and go everywhere and do everything for myself but now I can't even step outside my front door without feeling anxious and scared. It is so embarassing for me I'd rather stay in my house where no one can see me.
605458 tn?1539228808 My abnormal anxiety issues are limited to social anxiety, a vague, but intense fear of social situations, new people, and new places. It used to be quite pervasive growing up, but now I can do a lot of things without anxiety, like go to a restaurant with family. It is the new and unfamiliar I still struggle with. I was all safe in my reclusion until recently I have had the desire to expand my life- I want friends and to get out in the world. An opportunity presented itself.
Avatar m tn Suggest you talk to your Doc. about your anxiety. We all differ in what works for us. For me it's meds.activity & support from family/friends/this site. Breathing control/Yoga/Meditation/listening to music you like, or doing whatever pleases you. Relaxation techniques learned from someone that knows what it's all about will almost certainly help you to remain calm. Boost your confidence in ways you have used in past? Others will help to support you on site for sure. Good Luck.
8890834 tn?1400453151 I have always had panic attacks, this has dated back to childhood. I've also always been an introvert, very shy in personality, large crowds made me nervous. I've seen Drs in the past, each one wanting to medicate me with some designer poison. I've tried taking the meds, but they leave me feeling empty inside, left me feeling more depressed than anything and did little to affect my anxiety/social issues.
Avatar m tn Overall is there any tips that can be given to me to help with general anxiety issues...calming techniques? I have been reading the bible which gives me peace but when I can't read I would like something to help me out. I also have a book on anxiety which I plan on starting to read today so that might also have some tips. 3. And I guess maybe some overall tips on how to deal with anxiety and guilt on a daily basis. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm just wondering what the best breathing/relaxation techniques are for calming oneself down when anxiety reaches high level. I'm fed up up have anxiety attacks and taking it out on my poor fiance by yelling at him. I want to control my feelings and not allow them to get me so worked up so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
5148952 tn?1364321766 You are correct that the Abilfy will not help with your social anxiety. And while I do not mean to imply that your social worker has not helped you, very few, if any, social workers are trained psychologists who can help you with this problem. It may be worth considering professional therapy to beat this phobia once and for all.
Avatar f tn How disrupted is your life, and have you ever been in therapy with an expert in anxiety treatment? Have you ever trained in relaxation techniques, such as muscle relaxation, meditation, hypnosis, breathing techniques? It helps to know where you are and where you've been to know from our experiences where you might want to go.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I can take benedryl and it will help calm me and it is safe during pregnancy. Try relaxation techniques .. try your breathing techniques you learn for labor. Your so close to the end of the pregnancy .. you can do it =) I know what you mean though about the loss of control and not being able to handle it. That's what makes me panic more is that I have no control over anything anymore! The babies have control! .. LOL Your not alone though .. that's for sure!
Avatar f tn In which case I would recommend you find some good relaxation techniques to use in stressful situations and before you audition. Many of these techniques can be done without anyone even knowing your doing them. I doubt you have "anxiety" as we know it on this forum. Your symptoms would be much worse than just shaking and you would, literally, be unable to audition at all. In your case, I can see the words "nerves" and "anxiety" being interchanged.
Avatar f tn 33 weeks pregnant and have the worst anxiety of my life! Anyone else? How do u cope?
Avatar m tn And 2mg is a very high dose. Clonazepam doesn't work very quickly, so it's usually not used on an as-needed basis. It's usually prescribed for chronic anxiety sufferers twice daily every day, which leaves us addicted to it but there it is. It's very hard to stop taking if you take it regularly. The most common dose is 1mg twice a day. But if you want something as-needed, not regularly, then other benzos work more quickly and are more appropriate.
Avatar f tn So I've just recently become open with my social anxiety. I remember being in middle school and thinking that something was horribly wrong with me. I would get so nervouse around people. My body would tremble, my voice would shake and I couldn't think clearly. I've become more comfortable with being uncomfortable, and yes I do notice that there are plenty of people that are shy, but I really hate the fact that my real personality can't show when I'm around people.
Avatar f tn There is lots of great information on the net about various relaxation techniques. Search for progressive muscle relaxation, visualization relaxation techniques or self-soothing techniques. I have also found this site really helpful and relaxing to me. When my anxiety starts getting high, I go there, find the right mix of sounds, plug in my headphones and just sit back and listen for a few. It works remarkably well for me. Hope it helps you too. www.soundsleeping.com Hang in there.
