Avatar m tn Hi I am a 30 year old male. I am on Meds for panic disorder/social anxiety disorder and depression. I'm on a bit of a cocktail, Wellbutrin, Klonopin, Prozac,Propanol, a goal of my MD and mine is to make the cocktail smaller. I am fortunate to have a great doc who actually does 45minute sessions. He listens and wants to know what is going on in the patients life, wants the patients input on Meds. He is not a drive thru doc like I hear about and have experienced who sees 4 patients an hour.

Avatar n tn what are the signs and symptoms that someone is an alcoholic or drug addict. Are they similar to the signs of a person having bipolar disorder?
Avatar f tn The symptoms page follows the DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) which is what pdocs used to diagnose mental illness. The other one, warning signs, covers DSM symptoms and a few more related signs which may or may not be present, like anxiety, irritability and alcohol use.
Avatar m tn I am 19 years old, male, and I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder. I have had anxiety and hypochondriasis throughout my life , but only recently have developed Panic Disorder. I have had tingling sensations , pains, twitches, many floaters and pinpoint flashes, pins and needles sensations, cotton mouth, dry eyes, and general fatigue for the past few days. I also have perceived vision loss during the night.
Avatar n tn Your post already suggests that there is a component of anxiety here and anxiety can heighten the sensations of other processes like the flu. IN fact, in some instances anxiety alone could account for many of the symptoms you mention. If you are concerned that you might have gotten an STD (including HIV) from the exposure you describe, my advice is to go get screened for STDs to make sure that you don't have anything.
Avatar m tn I've developed an anxiety disorder, from a big panic attack about a year ago on weed. I never had any anxiety before this and am starting counseling tomorrow at my school. You think there's a chance I can recover from this without any medication? I have been getting lots of head shaking/nervousness/edgyness in social situations. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I saw a therapist and he did diagnose me with a social anxiety disorder but I realized I have been masking my anxiety with other forms of drugs, even if that drug was just alcohol all of my life. He recommended that I be put on some sort of benzo and antidepressant. I'm kind of nervous because I don't know about combining those two, I'll have to ask my doctor. But thanks for all of your advice, it helped especially when I was at my lowest more than you guys know.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your support and response. I was treated from the ages of about 13 to 19 for social anxiety disorder with paxil. I have no family history of neurological problems. I have been taking lexapro since it was prescribed to me initially at a start dose of 10 mg tapered up to 30. Recently, my psychiatrist has added seroquel at 100 mg twice a day. It should be noted that i stopped taking paxil on my own about 4 years ago.
Avatar m tn Individuals with BPD tend to experience frequent, strong and long-lasting states of aversive tension, often triggered by perceived rejection, being alone or perceived failure. They may show lability (changeability) between anger and anxiety or between depression and anxiety and temperamental sensitivity to emotive stimuli.
Avatar f tn Hello, Excessive sweating is called hyperhydrosis. Excessive sweating in the face can result from an overactive sympathetic nervous system, sometimes due to substance abuse. Mild social stimuli with stress can cause excessive facial sweating which can also involve the scalp and the neck. Endoscopic thoracic sympathicotomy is a very effective way to treat severe facial sweating. http://www.endsweat.com/hyperhidrosis.
1351968 tn?1278205300 Schizophrenics will often have the same disconects, but there is more to the disorder (word salad, catatonia, social isolation, social dysfunction, and impairments in the way the person thinks and speaks). Sometimes a person will go to the doctor because they're hallucinating (like me when I was 17) and get diagnosed as schizophrenic because the doctors haven't noticed or seen any shifts or signs from the bipolar.
10912630 tn?1413770190 My mother had severe social anxiety and severe major depressive disorder along with many other health problems. When she corrected her low stomach acid (which was preventing nutrients needed to make neurotransmitters such as serotonin) she finally started to improve.
Avatar n tn Since autism is a spectrum disorder, and because so many symptoms individually can be attributed to other syndroms and even normal behavior, it is difficult to say. any search on the internet of symptoms of autism will tell you that it's different for all cases. there are however some warning signs. For example, repetitive behaviors, delayed social and communication skills, hyper or hypo sensitivties, etc... If you have any concerns, i suggest you speak to your pediatrician.
Avatar m tn According to what I found, I should have Social Anxiety Disorder, Paranoid Personality Disorder, Avoidant Personality Disorder, Schizoid Personality Disorder, slight Schizotypal Personality Disorder and slight Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. I reread articles about it very carefully and try to compare it to what I go through every day and I can only confirm that I SHOULD have those, but I'm not sure. My Questions is...
Avatar f tn s never even seen a doctor to find out. My dad has social anxiety disorder, and my grandma (his mom) was in and out of mental hospitals. My dad is the youngest of 9 but most of his siblings are on some form of mood stabilizer. Mental illnesses can definitely be genetic but it's not guaranteed to pass. Oh and I can tell you first hand, medication only works if you take it the right way everyday.
Avatar f tn I could give you a suggestion of what to adjust to but first find out by speaking to your psychiatrist what your full diagnosis is and whether you have anxiety disorder as well or whether you are getting medication side effects. As for information on mood disorders google "Depression Central" and here's a list of mood stabilizers that are approved medications but used off label as experimental mood stabilizers: http://www.psycheducation.org/depression/meds/moodstabilizers.
Avatar m tn just being stressed your physical symptoms would go away after the stress does but with an anxiety disorder you body and hormones go all out of whack and your body keeps pumping adrenaline, and cortisol as if you were having something stressful going on even though you may consciously not.
Avatar n tn In middle I had a few friends but in high school I moved and couldnt make any friends at all. Then I learned about social anxiety disorder and is sound alot like me and i have other anxiety disorders like hypocondira and OCD. But it could be aspergers.
Avatar f tn I've been diagnosed - by a psychiatrist - with Social Anxiety Disorder. I've been taking Lexapro for almost 2 months - started on 10 mg and the dosage was up to 20 mg two weeks ago. Also, for the last 3 months I've been speaking every week or two with a licensed professional counselor. My main problem is associating with people that are close to my age range, I'm 26.
Avatar f tn Ritalin is used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and narcolepsy (an uncontrollable desire to sleep). When given for attention deficit disorder, Ritalin should be an integral part of a total treatment program that includes psychological, educational, and social measures. Ritalin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Avatar m tn My symptoms are, Hand Tremors all day long, Bad Anxiety, and Social Anxiety, weird burning sensations in my body, and lack of energy and fatigue. If anyone can give me their thoughts I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Avatar f tn But I also with my anxiety have severe depersonalization sometimes. These are all symptoms of anxiety except the zoning out which is just plain old spacing out. But what I read is that they are all symptoms of petit mal seizures. Wouldnt that mean that theres some sort of connection there seeing as people usually experience anxiety when they have a seizure.
Avatar n tn m sure there is STRESS in your life with the closure of your business and I would be inclined to put your symptoms down to that rather than anxiety. Check with your doctor about the itchiness and have him/her check your scalp.
