At the time of sleeping n mostly in the middle of the night i suddenly feel a bit cold n very heavy mucous runs down my right nostril. it is so heavy that i can't even sniff it in. it makes my whole mouth dry n when not cured it blocks my nose permanently n i can't smell.
Also, for someone with a primary ob of genital HSV 1, how long would the sore throat typically last? And for future ob's, would the sore throat, fever, aches also recur? Thanks.
I understand that a person would not have symptoms such as sneezing or a runny nose, but would their sore throat be the type similar to other viral (or bacterial) infections where the person develops nasopharyngeal irritation and postnasal mucus production (with associated irritation) over several days or would there just simply be a rapid onset of acute redness, pain and inflammation with no signs of mucus drainage? Is it possible that both can develop, depending on the individual?
Hi im a 17 yr. old female who has a sore throat for about 2 weeks. No runny nose or anything but recently I've been having these coughs and just a little while ago I sneezed and I spat out some mucus with blood. Im really really worried and would like to know what is wrong.
I though there might be something to the allergy theory, because I have also had 2 asthma attacks in the last week (which I haven't had in 3 years) but normally my allergies appear in the form of coughing, sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. I have been seeing the dr for a couple months now to figure out what has been causing migraines that I've suffered from daily since the birth of my 4 month old son...however since getting the sore throat, my headaches don't seem as severe.
today it's down my throat, like a sore throat, but I've never had a sore throat like this...even inside my mouth...red blistery looking. I was exposed to a smoking environment and then a lady who has pneumonia! My eyes are watery also and I am weak all over. I was just wondering if the mouth thing was sore throat/part of the flu symptoms, or if it could be something like mono, (never had mono /don't have a clue)...??
symptoms like fever, sneezing runny nose etc. I was wondering if it could be thyroid related? I was told @ a recent Drs visit my thyroid felt enlarged and my TSH is 4.36. Does anyone have the same issues?
I used Flonase in the past. Same thing. I'm on Benadryl all the time, otherwise I would have an itchy runny nose, sneezing, plus this sinus pain. I can't take ANYTHING for pain. I've been dealing with a kidney issue, so NSAIDs are out. I'm allergic to Tylenol, and I'm allergic to all opiates. When I was hospitalized with renal failure, the hospital had me lying down on a K-pad to deal with the intense kidney pain, because there isn't anything left that one can take for pain.
first, the sore throat; its day 2 and it has still not gone, its the second day and i've been sneezing every now and then. i feel a lil itchy too. i checked my temp it was around 99. i feel malaise and tiredness and have a runny nose and have had chills and have been feeling nauseatic with some nasal blockage.also some muscle ache. are u still certain that after all these symptoms i dont have any risk whatsoever . im very worried as these are hiv symptoms.
who obviously had no clue what it was. I had an extremely painful and stuffed nose, and a sore throat. nose spray didn't help. I gritted my teeth and sprayed "Ayer" in the nose tried triple antibiotic skin ointment with added pain med in it. Vasalene didn't help. I did have small nosebleeds with scabs here and there in my nose. Inside the tip of my nose was the worst. I took Ultram, Sudaphed, Tylenol PM, and tons of water. I used a nasal emolient. I was told not to use Flonaise.
These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications. Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough. Cough is a protective mechanism by the body as it helps to prevent infections. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment.
There may be irritation on the roof of the mouth or in the back of the throat. These symptoms follow with sneezing and runny nose. You can experience congestion, wheezing, headaches, and coughing. T he pollen count as well as humidity is high especially in the morning, as a result you can experience these symptoms as soon as you wake up. Keep windows closed when the pollen count is high. If possible it is better to use air conditioning. Also keep your home as allergy free as possible.
Normally, if I get a cold or flu or sinus infection, it starts with a scratchy throat, followed by bad sore throat, coughing, sneezing, runny nose etc. Never noticed the scalp tenderness before. Open to any ideas or suggestions that readers might have. Thanks.
Lately I have been feeling extremely sluggish, and I have a bad headache with a runny nose and a lot of sneezing. My throat is also sore and I feel weak. Yesterday I small white bump appeared on my upper lip that looked like a pimple. Now today the bump is much bigger and the whole area is red. The area hurts really bad and is tender to the touch. Everyone keeps telling me its a cold sore, but I have never had a cold sore before and I haven't been around anyone that has a cold sore.
At the latest stage of the flu is sneezing and runny nose. The fever is a good thing. It is you body trying to fight off the illness. Do not try cough suppressants. Your body coughs because it is trying to get rid of all the toxins and phlegm if you have any. Currently I'm taking Hyland's Cold & Cough. It is a homeopathic medicine which means it works with your body. After a day of taking this medicine the coughing and and sore throat was diminishing.
I have had some stuffy noses and sneezing. Could it be allergies? I have also had some sore glands on and off in my neck.
You actually explain most of them - extra covers make you sweat at night, sinus infection causes runny nose and sore throat (ars does not cause runny nose by the way... mucous pretty much can rule ars out) and fever which makes you sweat at night. can you get HIV from the exposure you describe? yes... I can also get hit in the face and killed by a comet sitting here typing, Socrates died from a random turtle being dropped on his head, etc.
It is not dripping out but if I blow my nose there is a bit of blood. The rest of my symptoms (cough, sore throat, stuffiness) have been improving but would people say I should go to the doctor again, or let this pass?
Very sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, no fever, no runny nose at least presently, some sneezing. I have had about a dozen of these episodes in my life. It's always the same thing the strep test is either negative or inconclusive but I get prescribed antibiotics and the spots clear up in a day or two and everything is fine. I'm 38 and have had throat and ear problems forever.
yesterday it was just that the roof of my mouth was itiching.. today I woke up with a clogged nose, eyes burning, and a slight sore throat. All this stuff scares me. I hat to mention it, but isn't SIDS dangerous with congestion.
The responder also said that postnasal drip is drainage from the nose and sinuses dripping down the back of the throat. I don't believe I have postnasal drip. Typically, my nose is clear and I don't had sinus pain. During the summer I take allergy medication a few times a week, as necessary, but I haven't needed any allergy meds in about two weeks (thankfully!). My goal for this post is to find a way to prevent the phlegm from being there. I'd accept a way to remove the phlegm, too.
While I have experienced some of the symptoms of a cold throughout this 2 week period (occasional sneezing, coughing and runny nose), I realized that the back of my throat looks irritated and I have a dark spot on the right side. I've looked up what that might be and it looks like my throat shows signs of strep throat, but I don't feel any of the symptoms traditionally associated with strep throat (no sore throat, fever, headaches or weakness).
Went back to work on Monday and Tuesday am had a raging sore throat and by tues p.m. was having runny/stuffy nose and body aches. How rude. can't tell whether half of my symptoms are due to cold or going hypo.
Came down with a big sore bump inside my left nostril. Entire left side of nose became red and swollen. Went to Prime Care and test showed "light staph infection". Have been taking double-strength Bactrim along with Valtrex in case it could be the start of shingles. It has been 4 days on meds with no improvement, but no rash either. Extremely painful. Wake up every 2 hours and need Vicodin. Seems to radiate into cheek. Scalp itches now.
I tilted my head to the side while reading last night and flourescent yellow fluid started flowing out of my nose and down my throat. It didn't smell, but tasted salty. On white tissue it looked like a leaky highlighter pen. This morning I popped over to see a doctor in the ENT department. I had a quick check over and he said I had signs of fluid inside my left ear (like glue ear). I think it is due to an infection.
I think this is because when I am it creates a severe retching which you can hear for miles! Leaves me with a terrible sore throat. Only been to the doctors approx 8 years ago where they diagnosed me with IBS. Never thought that was correct. This for me can be very frustrating.. but obviously for some people it can be severe enough to affect their quality of life. I hope there's some comfort in knowing that it seems more common than first thought.
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
the same, every time i add spices and tomato paste in the onions i would get very bad sneezing.but from Tuesday morning i started getting really stuffy nose and runny nose and little bit sneezing. it continued the whole day.from Friday i also started feeling somewhat fatigue and weakness and i thought that my temperature has raised a little bit. but on thermometer it showed normal(37 c) generally my normal temperature is 36.
