Paradise was a gunshot victim almost 2 yrs. ago. Lost one eye and hearing in one ear. I am wondering if this gunshot could have effected her sinuses or something to cause this sneezing. Or maybe she has allergies. We cannot afford to take her to the vet right now.
1336515 tn?1285008143 I keep getting these random but annoying watery red eyes and sneezing attacks. I went through my whole life never being allergic to anything except very strong perfumes in lotions, and I have lived with cats, dogs, hampsters...ect my whole life. I had an allergy test last year that came out clean (apparently I am not allergic to anything). But when I get these allergy attacks my nose runs like a faucet and I cant stop sneezing. It happens at work, and at home.
1658070 tn?1302320704 When we first got him, he had a respiratory infection, which is pretty common in shelter cats. We took him to the vet and they said it would probably come back, so when he started having sneezing fits for 5 or 10 minutes, I figured it was probably just to do with that. However, I've started to notice that his urine smells very strong lately. He is very good at using the litter box and his urine has never smelled before.
Avatar n tn Yes! I still do get those weird sneezing fits on occasion! I guess it's still my body trying to rid itself of something! I do take a Benedryl when it gets bad! That's interesting about the sugary foods prolonging withdrawals! I ate a lot of dark chocolate during mine and it seemed to comfort me!
Avatar f tn I also live on a farm with a number of barn cats who earn their keep by keeping the rodent population in check. Also like you, I had a perfectly healthy "pride" of cats until a stray showed up in the early fall. Although he showed no signs, within a couple of months many of my cats were displaying the symptoms your cats have.
611067 tn?1458591483 My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.
Avatar f tn My neice and I found a kitten a year ago and when we found him he had matter in his eye's and had a cough and was also very under weight ! We took him to my mother because she has other cats outside and he took up really good with them so she keep him ! We named him Boots ! Avatar f tn I work with our local humane shelter and we have two cats sneezing with a lot of yellow mucus. One has had it for several months and has gone through several antibiotics from several different vets and steroids as well. Nothing is working. Beautiful, pleasant cats but unable to adopt them out due to this problem.
2013578 tn?1341812012 ) Its an amino acid that strengthens the immune system so they can fight off this on their own, its usually viral in cats... but if in doubt at all please speak to a Vet first.....could also be that she has a small particle irritating her nasal passage (?) for cats with an acute attack we use 500mg for a week, than down to 250mg following for a few weeks. and for cats its important to use the brand with NO additives...just pure lysine. I will give you a link to where I order mine from...
Avatar f tn This is very common in cats and typically not serious, but some cats who are herpes positive do tend to have periodic viral infections.
Avatar f tn This Might be herpes which is very common in cats. You would have to ask for a specific test. You also might google herpes in cats and see if the picture and description fits your kitty. That's how I came to suspect my cat had herpes and after reading and seeing the pictures, I asked for a herpes test and sure enough, she has it. If your cat turns out to be positive, you can supplement his food with Lysine to help boost his immune system and slow down the virus' activity.
7667275 tn?1393196119 The vet also gave me some drops for his eyes in case he needed them and he developed sneezing although the other cats in the house were sneezing and seemed to have colds and the kitten was put on antibiotics and I noticed that he is still sneezing. He is 6 months old now and I am trying to prevent him from developing FIP. He has been fed life abundance food and takes NuVet Plus as recommended by the breeder.
3170462 tn?1344717552 Three years ago, my husband and I adopted two cats. They're brothers, Alvin and Simon, and were a year old when we got them. Before they came to our home, they lived with a friend who runs a Second Chance operation from her home. She found them as kittens (mum was killed by a possum) and weaned them. Both cats were well treated. When we first took them, our friend mentioned that Alvin had started sneezing. We didn't think anything of it. Cats sneeze.
Avatar f tn I am 9 week pregnant and I am also allergic to my indoor cats. I am also scare about getting toxo from my cats.
Avatar f tn thanks so much, now everything is so much clearer. Antibiotics are for cats bought in a vet pharmacy (anterobe). He doesn't cough but sneezes. At the beginning he eyes had yellow stuff but now this is solved. Lucifer (the cat's name) now is a bit happier and starts also being the same old buddy. I will though ask the vet on monday about the immune system. Has though always gone through all vaccinations. bye. I'll soon post a picture of him.
645800 tn?1466860955 Hi Dennis, I can relate a little, I´ve had a different sneezing than usually. It is like I can´t control the muscles in my mouth, and my sneezing is very "messy" instead of me usually sneezing very quietly with closed mouth for all my live (mom sneezes the same way). My sneezes changed last fall sept-oct when I was in some kind of flair (alot was happening, but begun with tight throat) and then I´ve been having a very simular kind of flare, last for over a month now.
1232362 tn?1333135406 At the risk of inflaming cat lovers, certain organisms that cause pneumonia in cats can cause leukemia in humans. It is not a good idea to be around cats with respiratory diseases.
Avatar m tn We took her home in a crate (recently used by my other cat and my dog sometimes slept in there) and when we were in the car she started sneezing and one of her eyes was a little bit watery. Now that shes home she continues to sneeze often and her eye is still watery. Could something in my house be irritating her? Could she be allergic to something? Or did i adopt a sick kitten? What should i do? Thank You.
Avatar f tn My cats have been sneezing frequently as well, but only since the season changed and I thought it might be due to dryer air in the house. I keep my humidifier running full blast in my bedroom and noticed all 3 of them sleep w/me since I started doing this. Spirit normally sleeps w/ m.
Avatar n tn Is he still not eating? Is he picking at his food or just not eating at ALL? It's important to call the vet as soon as you notice the kitty isn't eating, please use me as an example. My cat stopped eating but I figured she was eating when no one else was around since she has an aggressive food loving sister and I didn't notice something was wrong until I pet her and realized she was getting really boney.
Avatar n tn My 9 yr. old cat has been sneezing for over 2 yrs. He also has constant left eye & left nose drainage...sometimes bloody. Vet has no answers here so gave him an antibiotic shot. The shot was ineffective. His appetite is fine.He does'nt purr out loud so I've wondered if it's an obstruction.
Avatar f tn s harmless - basically a kind of a hiccup. Our Dal gets reverse sneezing fits sometimes and we can usually stop it by rubbing his throat and getting him to move around a bit. That technique might help when your dog gets the sneezes from excitement. If the sneezing fits are caused by excitement, tone down your greetings a bit and see if it stops. As long as he's otherwise healthy, no worries.
Avatar f tn Yes my friend sneezing is part of withdrawal and it doesn't help that allergy season is in full swing either but it IS the WD. I would say my sneezing stopped about day 20 or 25. Hang in there, it DOES get better!
Avatar f tn It happens. Once a month or so I have sneezing fits. I'll sneeze for 15-20 minutes. Personally, I love it because it drives my cat nuts. It's perfectly normal and happens. As Jemma said, something irritated your nose, so you sneezed.
Avatar f tn The vets don’t recommend to give cats, humans antibiotics, as some may not be suitable for them, however, they are some human antibiotics that can be used in cats, like Amoxicillin, but you need the right doses or else it can lead to overdose.
Avatar n tn My Border Collie used to suffer terribly from sneezing and snorting resulting in the bleeding nose - the walls sometimes resembled the scene of a mass murder. We thought it was due to allergies - mainly grass - but the vet said that dogs did not have allergies and booked him in to have a camera up his nose - this was after he gave us tablets for everything going. The camera showed an infection and the nose was rinsed through, anti biotics given etc.
