sneezing dog allergies

my doctor told to stay away from my dog, but i cant do that. so, anything i could do t get rid of sneezing and coughing? i have allergies for dust and pollen too.

Sneezing dogs, this time of the year, is a sure sign of allergies (especially if they're fine throughout the rest of the year). What RedHed1973 said... Benadryl. We actually give ours the regular kind (non-drowsy of course). Works like a charm and stops the itchy skin, watery eyes, runny nose, eye boogers & sneezing. Late April through August is allergy season for our girls, so we stock up on Benadryl big time during those months!

My dog has attacks of reverse sneezing occasionally. I calm her gently because she seems a little dismayed by the whole thing. I have been reassured that it causes them no harm, and is not a symptom of any other illness. Just guesswork on my part. If you are at all unsure, then do take your dog to the vet. I have heard bad things about foxtails, so if there is a problem with one, it is better sorted out fast.

I tend to agree, it sounds like a yeast infection in the ear, which will need sorting with medication from the vet, otherwise it will just get worse and worse and could result in your dog damaging their inner ear permenantly. Allergies are invariably difficult to identify, yet without finding out what your dog is allergic to it becomes pot-luck to try and prevent it from getting worse. You can have a patch test done, but this can be expensive (ask your vet about it).

For the last few years of using, I thought it was just my allergies until I quit. It really is GREAT to know what stuff actually smells like..but sometimes I just wanna puke. I am a smoker & the smell of cigarettes on someone else actually makes me disgusted. It really is one of the strangest things I've ever experienced! I have been bathing my dog almost every day, where as before it was 1 a week.

Temaril P is my choice for allergies cause it works....Also, The dose of steroids is very low in this one....Benedryl can be effective but sometimes sedating....The dose is 1mg. per lb. every 8hrs. Hope this helps....I hate allergy season!!!!!!!!! Karla P.S. I've also, heard about the bowl thing.

Actually we are currently out of town however I did contact our Vet and she also said it could be kennel cough, which is odd since our dog is an indoor dog and is never around other dogs. She also said it could be a nasty cold... since we cannot make it in right now she recommended I get some Benadryl and give her 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day. Ever since we begun to give her the medicine she seems to have gotten much better.

I'm constantly sneezing and blowing my nose. I swear I go through at least a roll & a half everyday. Its starting to get a little better..is this normal or should I be worried?

Okay so I'm 11 weeks and my nasal congestion/allergies have never been worse! Any one have this problem? Maybe found a solution? I'm getting married in 18 days and would really like it if I was sneezing throughout the ceremony!!!

If you can eliminate the source of the allergy, or if it's an unavoidable allergen, treat it with appropriate veterinary meds, the chewing can sometimes be diminished or even eliminated. Other causes of paw chewing are loneliness or separation anxiety.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone's doggy has suffered from allergies with sneezing and somewhat of a cough. . . Told to give him Benadryl. . . Are we able to give him Claritin or something similar???? Any other remedy for him avail, I know, no chicken soup for him . . . .

My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

Oh My gosh!! My Boxer/bulldog does this and I always thought it was just "allergies" and after looking this up and reading it I see that allergies can play a factor in it. Wow so glad to have a name to this, he scared me when he'd do this. I knew it wasn't something serious because he'd be fine afterwards and like the article said, to watch for bleeding etc. and he had none of this. I also found that letting him outside, into the "outside" air helped alot.

Anyone else have their allergies act crazier than usual while pregnant? I'm about 4/5 weeks and I'm sneezing a lot, my nose is stuffy & runny,I'm coughing and I just feel blah! I was taking Zyrtec and Nasonex spray, but recently stopped when I discovered I was preggo. I just got benadryl, gunna give it a shot tonight. Would rather take something that won't make me drowsy though.

My doxie wheezes in and out like he's having a massive asthma attack.....it sounds so bad, he makes me nervous everytime he does it .....he also rubs his head and chest into the grass every time we go outside. I'm going to ask the vet, but was wondering what you think, or if your dog does the same thing?

After bathing the dog and a air out and vacuuming my allergies get better. Going near the dog does not set off my allergies until the next day after a bath. It is not terrible but getting bad. Day 2 after the dogs bath is much worst. Day 3 will trigger asthma, Day 4 I get asthma anywhere in the home and going near the dog produces a terrible affect with my allergies. Also going near the dog affects my allergies like standing around a camp fire. The closer I get the more I feel it.

I have never had experience with severe reverse sneezing. My own dog had the occasional attack, maybe about half a dozen in her whole life. They lasted about a minute each time, then went. So something on this scale, I have absolutely no idea about. I do know they can be triggered by toxins in the enviroment....so is there anything that possibly could cause this? Cleaning products, fumes of any kind? Or do you live close to a busy road? But the issues she has right now are more serious.
