Common Questions and Answers about Sneezing cat allergies

sneeze

Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn I do,I am 4 week pregnant and we have a cat and I am so allergic with her these days and sneezing like hundred times a day.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn I agree with what others said, Good luck - we have a cat who has allergies and we think she might actually be allergic to the other cats - LOL! But, she's doing very well even with the allergies.
611067 tn?1458591483 My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.
Avatar f tn Now my cat is sneezing less...but still sneezing now and again so I am not sure what to think. She seems normal otherwise (hard to tell if she is having extra cat naps since she is a cat who snoozes). Maybe it was the cleaning products? If it is an infection, what would be the chances only she would have it and not my other cat? They both hang out together and both are indoor cats.....
3170462 tn?1344717552 t mean to sound obtuse, but a specialist of what? Cats? Allergies? Cat allergies? Do these specialists have a title or a specific field of study that I can begin searching for one by?
4963258 tn?1395602072 I've always had allergies but they seem to be wayyy worse since I've been pregnant. Anyone else have the same issues?
7532341 tn?1391693986 I have a retired persian show cat. He has the very flat face. He was a rescue cat and I have had him about 3months. I also have 2 humiliations, I bought as baby's. They are 9 years old and the rescue cat is 12. The rescue cat does not meow but he makes funny noises. He slurps his food up in a hurry then he is steady sneezing non stop and blowing his nose. No discharge of any type comes out. This goes on for quite awhile. He was starved to death and on deaths door when I first got him.
Avatar f tn A less serious (usually) possibility is allergies. Has she been tested/treated for allergies? Sometimes products we use around the house can cause reactions in our pets. Whatever the situation, prettykitty is right - tests are necessary. If you live in or near a city there are usually quite a few options for low cost vet care. If nothing else, you can call your local aspca and ask for advice. Keep us posted, please.
Avatar f tn I have allergies, dust, hay fever, cat hair ect.... not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time...
1232362 tn?1333135406 I have had bad cat allergies to cat hair- it's probably not a good idea to have cats if you have asthma or other lung diseases
Avatar f tn ) Every tree, grass, pet, dust mites, etc. These allergies cause swelling, breathing issues, sneezing, hives, and the list goes on. I'm 21 years old. Is there a reason behind a sudden drastic allergy change, or is this fairly common?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a cat who has sense the day we rescued him been sneezing and at points discharging, for a lack of better words, snot balls on the walls. We have taken him to the vet and have received a medication that did not work after completing the full bottle. I don't recall the name of this medicine. My question is, are there any over-the-counter medications that we can give this poor cat so we don't have to pay 50$ over and over again to visit the Vet.
Avatar f tn Just recently I started sneezing from 2x up to 6-12x at a time. I don't suffer from allergies, but afterwards I may have to blow my nose. What can cause this to happen?
203342 tn?1328737207 Actually, being allergic to cat hair of any length is quite rare. The more common cat allergy is to various proteins contained in cat saliva. These proteins can be deposited on hair and skin when the cat grooms itself and then become airborne when hair or dander (dead skins cells are shed. More likely the symptoms are from dust, mold, and other debris that get kicked out into the house when you first few times the central heating system kicks in.
Avatar f tn Slept like a baby and felt very refreshed next morning, which is unusual. On way home started sneezing, allergy like, not like a cold. 2 days later, still sneezing and dripping but not like a cold. Could it have triggered an MS reaction or just an allergic reaction to the humidifier? I know I think they are supposed to use distilled water but I am allergic to city water with chlorine. Allergy pills not working BUT if I am laying down asleep, no sneezing, no dripping, which is clear……..
11389935 tn?1417796609 Hi KCLover, Your Boyfriends cold was HIS. Your cat probably has allergies or an Upper Respiratory Infection (cat cold). Now if you cat has the herpes virus and this URI is one of the symptoms, your older cat can catch it from her. Although if they have been together for sometime they are both immune or both infected already. Theses URI will happen several times a year.
1116122 tn?1268496794 I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn Im 18 weeks and 5days and i have awful seasonal allergies. My eyes are usually bad but for some reason this year its all about the sneezing. I have my appointment next monday but i dont know if i can wait that long to ask what i can take for them. Is there anything at all i can use for nasal allergies? I feel like im dying from these sneeze attacks ive been having.
Avatar n tn my right eye is itching and burning in the corners. Ive also been sneezing off an on so this quite possibly could be from allergies, iwas recently diagnosed with hpv about 1 month ago am awaiting treatment at the derm which i have in the next upcoming weeks, this all started this eye nose thing when i went home to my fathers who owns a cat and i was sneezing having asthma rubbing my eyes im wondering if somehow i couldve spread hpv to my eyes.
Avatar f tn The allergy would be to cat dander, which as Linda said, is actually pollen and other irritants that migrate to cat fur. The symptoms are those typical of airborne allergies and rarely cause skin itching. However, if the cat has fleas that could certainly account for your itching.
Avatar n tn Sudden onset or temporary clear discharge from the eyes can be caused by injury (although this is unlikely if the discharge is from both eyes), allergic reaction or an upper respiratory tract infection - just like when humans get watery eyes when suffering from a cold. If your cat has a respiratory infection he is likely to also develop a wet nose.
535822 tn?1443976780 I have copied your ideas out and the names to ask for at Sprouts I felt it was tree pollen when I had that mad fit after the mailman came, that sure was a weird tree momentso really Chinese skullcap may be useful and the pills from Bioforce ..I hope something works ,that sneezing jolts my whole body to say nothing of scaring the cat ....
Avatar f tn hi so sorry for poor kitties problems, its not likely allergies, unlike us humans an allergy for a cat shows up as a problem with their skin.(as far as I am aware).. but the eye discharge sounds like something that does need to be investigated by a Vet...what exactly was he diagnosed with the first time he was seen?...In my opinion its more of a further health condition and not likely an infection because it is chronic.
Avatar n tn My cat keeps sneezing and sometimes has watery eyes. It started today and. I googled it and apparentley he's got upper respiratory infection. Are there any home remedies or ways I can help him without taking him to the vet?
