Avatar f tn Hi allegra_dl, I believe that Ms. Paderla is right. You might be suffering from allergic rhinitis and so as your mother and grandmother. This is a condition wherein sometimes people inherit the disease and may pass to other generations. This kind of allergy does not only concern weather changes but also other allergens like dust mites, pollens, etc.
2083688 tn?1334601661 Actually its very bad to hold on your sneezes. Not bc ur pregnant but bc it sends the bacteria from ur sneeze into ur brain & u can get meningitis. My son came down with it & the dr told us to never, ever hold in a sneeze.
Avatar f tn have there been any developments with your inability to sneeze? i noticed you posted this concern Aug 17 and it is now mid December. I came across this thread because it is the same issue i currently have. I think the last time I sneezed was nearly a month ago in mid November and I dont know if i hit my eyeball too hard or if holding in a sneeze by accident a few weeks ago is what has triggered this issue.
Avatar f tn Since that day in the car two years ago, I frequently have headaches. Certainly each time I sneeze or cough, a headache immediately sets in. I visited a Chiropractor each month for 8 months and this did provide small, temporary relief however this didn't fix the problem. I then visited my GP who said it was probably some degradation of nerves/tissues at the top of my spine and that operating was an option however the risks would be much greater than any benefits I may enjoy.
Avatar f tn And immediately, I became scared for no reason and something in my brain changed that resulted me in the inability to sneeze. Now I can’t sneeze at all and when I feel the urge to sneeze, I will think that “I’m gonna sneeze, I’m gonna sneeze” and then I couldn’t because I kept thinking about it. Now I have headache, ear and eye pain which I think might be due to lack of sneeze. I’m always constantly thinking of not being able to sneeze and I find it hard not to not think about it.
Avatar n tn This happens due to infarction, stroke,TIA etc causing brain injury leading to nerve cells death followed by fibrous tissue formation.
Avatar n tn severe headache, slight fever, stiff neck , started with a sneeze that rattled the brain, also got bit by a mosquito several days prior to sneeze
645800 tn?1466860955 I've been having a problem with sneezing for quite a while now. I'll have fits where I'll constantly sneeze for 15 - 20 minutes at a time. The sneezing fits happen for no apparent reason and throughout the year and almost daily. Nothing that I have tried seems to help at all. My doctors have also tried various things to help with this (Nasal sprays, allergy medications, etc.).
Avatar f tn Everytime I sneeze i get a sharp pain in my pelvic area.. only 13 and 4. Any ideas what this could be?
Avatar f tn I get this pain under my tummy right above my vag whenever I sneeze? Should I be worried?? Im scared!
Avatar f tn You're a doctor & you don't know that you never had a risk?HIV is not transmitted via sneezing & you definately don't require nPEP.No risk.
7282682 tn?1397237735 I like the sneezing but the peeing and pooping because of force of sneeze gets me. Talk about stares when in public. I've had people in front of me duck.
Avatar n tn after i sneeze or laugh ,i get a a bright light in my vision and that is all i can see for about 30 to 40 seconds then my vision comes back and i get a headache
776635 tn?1235585433 However, one other concern would be infection, such as a viral meningitis, infection in the fluid around the brain. If central nervous system (brain) infection is of concern, a lumbar puncture (removing fluid from around the spine) is needed for diagnosis. The hypothalamus has many functions including sweating, and fever, but hypothalamic dysfunction usually occurs in the setting of other brain abnormalities or a lesion in the hypothalamus.
Avatar m tn i sneeze 3 times every am. just weird. my som does 10 every am.
Avatar f tn This can result in tingling, weakness, spasms, loss of sensation and other such symptoms either on one side of the body or on the whole body. Again this is due to low oxygen supply to brain where the blood supply to brain is temporarily cut off generally due to a spasm of the arteries, or a clot or high blood pressure causing micro leaks in the brain. Ocular migraine, high BP, spasm of carotid artery and brain tumor are the other possibilities.
Avatar n tn I had never heard of anything like this should we get a second opinion? But can the brain heal itself? Replace the nerouns and the cells I thought the younger you were the better the results? Since the brain had shrunk do this mean he have a brain of someone 50 years of age? Etc.
Avatar m tn Focal cortical dysplasia associated with enlarged cells is known as FCDIIB. The enlarged cells are called balloon cells for their large elliptical shape, displaced nucleus, and lack of dendrites or axons. The developmental origin of balloon cells is unknown although they are believed to be derived from neuronal or glial progenitor cells. Balloon cells are similar in structure to giant cells in the disorder tuberous sclerosis complex.
333672 tn?1273792789 Of course, this is another thing that goes wrong in MS when the blood-brain barrier is breached, allowing errant T cells and B cells into the CNS. Microglia are neurotoxic and can kill oligodendrocytes in MS, but may also have a neuroprotective role (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19409897) 4. ASTROCYTES.
Avatar m tn Has anybody considered stem cell therapy to repair the damage done to the nervous system/brain? I had my decompression done 3 years ago and have been dealing with insomnia and central sleep apnea ever since. This leads me to believe that my brainstem/nervous system is damaged. Stem cells are obviously the only option to repair the damage... http://www.csfinfo.org/education/physician-information/repair-and-regeneration-central-nervous-system/.
