Common Questions and Answers about Sneeze after choking

sneeze

Avatar f tn For the past 6 months I have found myself having a choking cough for no reason then after it is over I sneeze. What is going on? Anyone ever experienced this? If so what is it and why does it happen? Any answers will be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I experienced a near choking event a week ago in a restaurant from coughing. I hadn't taken a bite yet but began coughing so intensely I could not breathe and was near passing out. When I got a breath it was very difficult and was more of a gasp for air. During the event I experienced severe stinging sensations in my chest. Since then every time I cough or sneeze the burning sensation returns and my ribs are very sore. Wearing anything tight around that area causes an extreme soreness.
Avatar n tn About 24 weeks ago the allegeric reactions began to get more serious, she began to start choking on a daily basis. Currently she has choking episodes about 4 times a day on average. She always has to have some supervision, to adminster liquid benadrhyl, because she cannot do it herself. Lately it has gotten worse, she no longer makes coughing noises before starting to choke, she just becomes unresponsive.

1397479 tn?1280469188 Hello & welcome......If your dog is a Toy breed, the snorting sound (When excited) is called a "Reverse Sneeze". Google it and read to see if that's what your hearing....Very common and nothing to worry about......Actually, I don't believe anyone knows what causes it! The choking from lease pulling is too much pressure on the Trachea....It causes restriction of air in the lungs......

7634014 tn?1393585139 Sneezing is definitely one of the most perplexing and long lasting symptoms! But hey it's a very small price to pay! Our noses were probably numb lol! Big huge congratulations on 5 whole days! You passed through the hard stuff. Time to start planning /doing aftercare. Just start by browsing around to see what is available in your area. GREAT JOB! High 5 (get it?) and keep it going!
Avatar f tn I just peed on myself a little bit while laughing. I laughed so hard I was choking and as I coughed a little bit of pee came out. Gosh. Does this mean after I give birth I won't have any control over my pelvic floor???
Avatar n tn This actions comes while awake or sleep, after a sneeze, a breath or a cough. This continues for another week, randomly (sometimes not for up to 4 days and sometimes 5 in one day.) We can not seem to find what starts it. After the hospital we go to see an allergy/asthma specialist who treats my son with GERD. 10 days later with Prevacid, we see no change. Within five days of d/c we enter our 2nd hospitalization where they Dx Laryngospasms and can not find reason for sudden onset.
Avatar f tn s get this when choking or coughing after swallowing something wrong way.thought it was my Fibromyalgia because nerves are more to surface or senssitive .
Avatar n tn Does your pain last more than the time of the sneeze? Do you tend to bend your neck and head forward and down during the sneeze?
Avatar n tn I have had pain after I sneeze but it does not travel down my left arm it just stays in the area just below my sholder. I am only 14 and I don't know what it is and it is really starting to worry me.
Avatar f tn I have held sneezes most of my life. After this sneeze I noticed a severe pain in my throat. I feel it all the time, eating, drinking, swallowing...but when I sneeze it hurts like heck! When I have to blow my nose and air is forced into that area it really hurts! If I have several sneezes in a row it hurts for a long time after. If I go for a few days with no sneezing or coughing, or blowing my nose then it subsides a little...but it comes back.
530535 tn?1244144777 i had a lot of soreness when i swallowed post op (now it just hurts when i yawn or sneeze!) stick to eating soft foods for the first couple of days and take pain relief as neccesary. Did you have a partial thyroidectomy? if so they don't usually start you on meds straight away - they will prob check your blood levels in the next couple of weeks - you might not even need meds, but i know some people do :) get plenty of rest and look after yourself - take it easy you deserve it!
473246 tn?1293833673 I find that fairly frequently when I cough hard or sneeze (thank you allergies!) that I (tmi) pee a little bit. It is really hard to control. Apparently I am carrying low and wonder if it is putting pressure on my bladder already. I am 23 weeks tomorrow....I'm just wondering what will happen when I am 33 weeks! Will I need diapers?!?! lol Is this happening to anyone else? I wear a panty liner all day, every day!
Avatar f tn My dog is coming up to 11 and a half, hes a black labrador and is quite healthy. Lately, I'd say over the past 3 months, hes been randomly choking. When I say randomly I mean even hours after having eating. Hes usually lying down when it happens but I haven't noticed this as a specific pattern. Often when this 'choking' occurs it looks as though he can't get something out of his throat, I often hit or rub his back to help him and it really worrys me.
Avatar f tn Lately i have been choking on water, icecream and even my own spit. It can be scary sometimes. Does anyone else have this symptom while being newly pregnant?
Avatar n tn Experiencing globus-like symptoms since late July 2020. Main symptom being a sensation of someone choking me by the neck as if I'm not getting enough oxygen to my head. I got a Covid test up the nose on Aug 11 then on Aug 14 I snorted/hacked up this strong orange vein/root like string from my nose and pulled it out from my mouth. It's a single string that literally has roots/branches coming off of it and is about 2.75 inches long.
Avatar n tn choking after having eaten, occassionally after drinking too and decided finally to have it checked out by my Doctor. He stated I had no leasions and basically could not find any reason for this annoyance - can anyone suggest what might be causing it, I never experience indigestion, nor reflux?
Avatar m tn I am a female and almost always sneeze uncontrolably for a few minutes after finishing meals in restaurants. For a long time I thought it was the wine...but drinking wine with meals doesn noot cause me to sneeze at home. Now I wonder if there is some kind of preservative that most restaurants use that might be setting me off. Does anyone else have this problem? Or an idea? This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/504215'>why does my boyfriend sneeze after eating?
Avatar f tn So this just started, everytime i sneeze I get a horrible sharp pain in my abdomen....is this okay or normal? ?
429700 tn?1308007823 Anyway, on to the thing that is most concerning me . . . Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night choking on my own spit! I coughed for a good hour and half (and I'm still coughing this morning) trying to get the sensation of something in my windpipe out. It kept me up for two hours and I went back to sleep.
Avatar n tn Here is the situation. 40 year old female/bulemic since age 17. Acid reflux and on Prilosec (maximum amount) per day for many years. Upon falling asleep, I can feel something loosening in the back of my throat. I wake up choking. It is so weird, my legs are actually "running" as I wake up laying in bed. I hate this choking feeling. I even bought an adjustable bed figuring it would help solve the problem but I still choke. I am becoming afraid to fall asleep. What should I do?
1375148 tn?1323166921 Hi Guys I've really suffered latley with the dreaded lergie, a cold, runny nose, fatigue, shakes, coughing, sneezing, and i wondered if you could describe what happens when you cough or sneeze, i've read that this can be a sure sign of symptomatic chiari but i don't think i can tell whether the headaches and pressure are just from the cold, or maybe they are enhanced because of chiari as well?
