Avatar f tn t recommend a respiratory arrest followed by a cardiac arrest ( which I just found out about) as a method to quit smoking...but, it certainly worked for me. The Lord put His foot print on my butt, sent me back to accomplish something...only time will tell what it is.
Avatar n tn No reproductive effects from chlorine exposure have been reported. In general, chemicals affect the same organ systems in all people who are exposed. A person's reaction depends on several things, including individual health, heredity, previous exposure to chemicals including medicines, and personal habits such as smoking or drinking.
Avatar f tn Put the ashtray thee too. Then you will stop smoking automatically, but only when you want to. In this manner I cut my smoking by more than one third in the first week. The rest was slower, but painless and I did not gain any weight.
Avatar f tn Hi , I've had long history of chronic pain and a pretty sucessful L4-5 surgery after drop foot due to herniations. I started having pretty sever symptoms again , spasm , twitching , breathing issues (smoker tho) numbness and atrophy and some blurry vision. Thought I had herniated disk again. Finally found hydromyelia in middle of back. Only think that helps is ibprofin and ice and my methadone. They have checked me for MS and ALS. I just had another MRI with contrast.
Avatar f tn Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
Avatar f tn Hey there. I am a former smoker (who still indulges on occasion, although I wish I could get past it 100%. ) I was very determined not to smoke while pregnant, and have a few tips for you that might help. I actually carried around an ultrasound photo. Everytime I had a craving, a look at that picture helped remind me this was no longer just about me. I do the same thing now as I want to live to see him grow up. He deserves that.
Avatar f tn As long as she does not have lung related problems such as asthma and she quits now, all the adverse effects of smoking should dissipate within a few years. If she does not quit she will eventually notice increased aging of her skin relative to her non-smoking friends, increased chance of getting lung, oral and other cancers later in life and multiple respiratory problems. Even if nothing "runs in her family", it does not mean it will not affect her.

422924 tn?1331764319 What you describe may be residual effects of your past smoking, even though you have presumably been smoke free for six years. That your chest X-ray showed no abnormalities is a good sign but it would probably be a good idea for you to have pulmonary function testing and perhaps even be prescribed inhaled medication to reduce any residual inflammation of your bronchial tubes caused by smoking in the past.

You could be suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease like bronchitis or emphysema, heart attacks, strokes, cancer oral cavity and cancer lung. Consult a physician for the needful assessment so that any serious illness is screened and caught early for prompt management.

This shortness of breath can also be due to hypoglycemia cause by Levaquin. Please call up your doctor urgently and do not take the next dose until you have spoken to the doctor and have been examined by him. Take care!
5028514 tn?1366828456 t, and 46 years after my birth I still have respiratory problems tied directly to my mothers smoking. Not paying attention to this warning or any others is just that same as purposely harming your baby, and I don't think you want to do that.
Avatar f tn I am 9 weeks pregnant and still smoking is this really bad and going to hurt my baby?
Avatar n tn Cancer, anywhere in the respiratory system, including throat, larynx and lungs can cause a cough, but once begun, it would be very unlikely for it to continue to diminish. For that reason, I agree with your primary care provider (PCP) and do not believe a visit to an ENT or a pulmonologist is warranted, unless the cough would recur/worsen in the immediate future. By convention, a cough is not considered chronic until it lasts more than 3 months.
Avatar f tn Ventolin opens the airways - since you are a smoker there is a lot of mucus build up in there. Smoking causes the little hairs in your lungs and respiratory system to seize and stop working - this means that they cannot move the mucus out of the lungs if something is irriatating it. The ventolin opens the airways and thus is allowing movement of some of the mucus that is stuck. You WANT to cough the junk out!!
1102792 tn?1285925260 for about a week now i've noticed that i experience an acute loss or respiratory drive when i smoke, maybe just after a few drags or a few mins after i finsh smoking, first time it was very serious i had to get out of the car and force my self to breathe, later on i realised that the symptom is relieved by alcohol. and if i smoke and drink it doesn't happen, also it doesn't happen every time i smoke, just starts out of the blue. will like to know the cause and treatment.
