smoking

Avatar f tn What are the side effects of smoking when pregnant? Did any of u girls smoke when u were pregnant? I'm 16 weeks and trying to quit but it a lot harder than I thought .
Avatar n tn If/when you try Flec, just be aware of the symptom list, trying not to let the list suggest side-effects, and if any of the bad ones start consider going to ER. I have a colleague who is now in his early 70s and he has been on Flec for at least 10 years to stop atrial fibrillation or flutter, and it works for him. He is still working and doing world-wide travel, so whatever side-effects he feels don't seem to slow him down.
Avatar n tn Dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, tiredness, constipation, diarrhea, stomach upset/gas, nausea, trouble sleeping or unusual dreams may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Avatar m tn I have liver cirrhosis and when I became ill, my doctor prescribed Marinol for weight gain. I had lost 85 lbs and gained 30 pounds with this treatment. My doctor discontinued the Marinol and my weight decreased. I am 6'2" tall and am considering smoking marijuana to achieve the weight gain I am comfortable with. Will this method injure my liver further or have no real effects to it?
Avatar f tn Why cannot so many anti-smoking professional see, that at that point of time, it is impossible to introduce total abstinence and yet there is a system on the market, that could help achieve the very thing these people want, which is to stop others smoking and nicotine can be used in a safer delivery system? https://www.thunderclap.
Avatar n tn But i stopped for almost a year with no problems. never really a big user. but recently i smoked alot over the past week. and i stopped smoking and drinking all together a day or two later because i was feeling really wierd. i get butterflyes in my stomach, sometimes randomly feel dizzy, disconnected from people and things.. i feel the best when i wake up in the morning and then it kinda starts through out the day.
Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar f tn I still continued to smoke for a couple of days, but only a couple of puffs from my husbands cigarette 2-3 times a day, then I looked online about the effects off smoking whilst pregnant and quit straight away! There are times when I would like a cigarette but I care for my unborn baby a million times more than a dirty fag! Honestly the best thing you can do is quit, every time you smoke your babies tiny heartbeat has to beat extremely fast as it struggles for oxygen!
Avatar f tn Choosing to smoke because of your personal habit puts your child at risk, even if its a small risk, it is still a risk. For preterm labor, low birth weight, asthma, and a list of other issues. Its not worth it and part of being a mother is sacrificing drugs in order to have a healthy baby. Some women dont care, and arent educated and will tell u "its ok", but no one can stop u. Its your choice. It isnt worth it in my opinion.

Avatar f tn Perhaps. It's not been studied enough to make it to the list of potential side effects (either common or rare) at this point. But I don't doubt what you've posted.
Avatar f tn The liver filters everything that goes into your body. The chemicals from smoking may not get a first pass through the liver as if you'd eaten them but smoking is not liver friendly.
Avatar f tn If you stop smoking, that's the best thing you can do. You are young, you've only smoked a couple of cigarettes and you can reverse the effects if you quit. Good for you for being concerned about it! Be tough and stop smoking now!
Avatar f tn Look up some articles if you want to know the effects of smoking. You don't want to put anything into your body tat isn't good for either of you while you are pregnant. I don't know of any doctors who would encouraged you to continue smoking unless you are stressing out more from not smoking.
Avatar f tn People have many different opinions but there are no studys that find anything wrong with it unless you are smoking blunts which have tobacco in it or smoking a large amount daily i have also have drs say it would be ok to take a hit if it helps you eat and stops the nausea
1536705 tn?1324329047 As far as I know there have not been any actual effects found for smoking weed. The literature says the only known effects are the same of that found for smoking cigarettes. Although it just cant be good for mum or baby. She needs to ensure that she is taking in the correct vitamins etc and I dont know how smoking weed effects these thing in your body. Have a chat with her.
645800 tn?1466860955 I hate that your appointment did not go well for you. Hopefully the next one will be better, I just wanted to drop you a note about the Chantix. I took it about a year and a half ago. It did work very well but I had horrible side effects from it after only a few weeks of taking it. It also has ALOT of neurological side effects. It even has MS listed as a rare side effect. I think what it does in some people is it brings out the MS symptoms. I just wanted to give you heads up.
Avatar f tn Google how smoking effects your baby. One was it increases the risk of sids (sudden infant death syndrome). That alone should be enough for someone to quit but a lot of moms turn a blind eye to the negative side effects. Best of luck quitting! !!
Avatar f tn I was a smoker and stopped straight away i dont even crave anymore and i do feel a lot better for it although ive got to admit i have to watch what i eat as at first i think i ate to give me something to do lol. I googled what effects smoking has on a baby and that was enough to put me off straight away. Im not saying its not going to be hard especially if you have smokers around you but id also ask them to refrain from smoking anywhere near you.
Avatar f tn So I know this woman who is about as far along as I am (34weeks), and she smokes at least a cigarette everyday, and has been throughout her entire pregnancy. She told me it was because her doctor said that of she "quit cold turkey" that it could have negative effects on the baby because of with drawels, though she had plenty of time to quit by now. Is this true?? What do you guys think??
