Common Questions and Answers about Smoking effects facts

smoking

Avatar f tn Google how smoking effects your baby. One was it increases the risk of sids (sudden infant death syndrome). That alone should be enough for someone to quit but a lot of moms turn a blind eye to the negative side effects. Best of luck quitting! !!
Avatar n tn Your child and your body. Smoking weed does less harm than a cig. So please make a decision based off the facts not bullying. And FYI they do take a urin sample when you're at the doctors to test for drugs. But they only notify child survices if you're doing real harm to your child like meth or herion. Even crack. My sister lived in Wyoming though her pregnacy and still has both her children. This is a site for help not abuse. Thank you.
Avatar n tn but quitting far out ways any effects you might have from the smoking. Any effects that may occur after quitting will only worsen the longer you smoke. The longer you go without smoking the better your body will be able to heal itself. Beware that detox can be the pits and you may need help in doing so. Make not smoking a habit of yours (habits are usually formed after 21 days of doing it consistently). You can also try thinking of it as a money saving adventure.
Avatar f tn As Mrs_bagz said there is nothing you can do no-it's not good for baby at all, even being around smokers is awful. Well done for giving up-I've never smoked but imagine it must be hard-but we will do anything for our children so well done! Don't start again-so much healthier fir you & your bundle! All you can do is go onto the net & print some articles explaining the effects smoking will have on her baby pre & post & hope a maternal instinct kicks in! Good luck!
Avatar n tn Size of a penis no. length of a vagina not likely. You should make an appointment with your gynocolgist. They can help you determine methods to help you get pregnant and what measures you should take. Depending if you've taken certain birth control metods it could take a little longer to pregnant. Healthy diet and lifestyle can help. Stress definately effects getting pregnant. There are studies that show increase stress equals decreased ability to conceive.
Avatar f tn Quit any way you can. Most doctors would say to stop. The doctors who say to cut back slowly are either smokers themselves or are afraid that if they don't say it like that, the woman won't even try to stop. A little stress is not as bad as the effects of smoking on a baby.
Avatar f tn Before finding out I was pregnant, I was a heavy every day weed smoker, which would mean that I was smoking for the first month of my pregnancy.. just curious to know if it really can affect the baby and what effects it would have. my friend's doctor told her "off record" that it was okay for her to continue smoking while pregnant. So besides the fact that its illegal and "bad" for a person, how does it affect the baby? Please no bias opinions either, just facts.
Avatar f tn So, let me give you the facts that you probably already know, but they are important to repeat. Smoking while pregnant will: Lower the amount of oxygen and nutrient available your growing baby. Increase your baby's heart rate. Increase the chances of miscarriage and stillbirth. Increase the risk that your baby is born prematurely and/or born with low birth weight. Increase your baby's risk of developing respiratory (lung) problems.
2023813 tn?1328781764 Five years ago, I had my first heart attack and decided to investigate the effects of smoking. I found it causes so many damaging effects to the body, it was frightening. Everything from the Liver to the Lungs. I also learned that statistics show 1 in every 2 smokers get a chronic illness related to smoking by the age of 40. That's just the flip of a coin. After I read all the facts, giving up was suddenly very easy.
Avatar f tn Hi..I wanted to know if I'm the only one or what I should do....I stop smoking when I found out I was pregnant. ..but I'm 26 weeks now n all I can think about is having a smoke...my bf smokes not inside but I still smell it off his clothes n if I go to a bbq at a family member house I have second hand smoke. ..I try n walk a way cus I know its bad to breath that in...all I think about is having one I'm craving it...what should I do ...
Avatar n tn Smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent. So, let me give you the facts that you probably already know, but they are important to repeat. Smoking while pregnant will: Lower the amount of oxygen and nutrient available your growing baby.
Avatar f tn I have been told many things about smoking during pregnancy. I am currently nine weeks pregnant and I'm having a problem with just quitting smoking. I've been told that since I've smoked for almost ten years that if I just up and quit I run a high risk of loosing my baby. I've been told to cut back and I've got to where I only smoke about 5 to 8 a day and before I got pregnant I smoked a pack a day.
Avatar f tn What are the side effects of smoking when pregnant? Did any of u girls smoke when u were pregnant? I'm 16 weeks and trying to quit but it a lot harder than I thought .
Avatar n tn But i stopped for almost a year with no problems. never really a big user. but recently i smoked alot over the past week. and i stopped smoking and drinking all together a day or two later because i was feeling really wierd. i get butterflyes in my stomach, sometimes randomly feel dizzy, disconnected from people and things.. i feel the best when i wake up in the morning and then it kinda starts through out the day.
Avatar f tn m sure it probably does, I do know a friend who had nausea so bad that the only thing that helped was smoking green and her daughter is perfectly healthy happy baby. I smoke ciggs and I feel bad about it and I have tried quiting over and over again but stress is not easy to handle for me at certain times especially being pregnant.
Avatar f tn Nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, trouble sleeping, loss of appetite, weakness, tiredness, dry mouth, sweating, yawning, or headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor promptly. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Avatar f tn t because when my mother was pregnant with me she quit. The effects are going to be similar when smoking and breastfeeding. I never called the OP a selfish, horrible mother. I said that selfish decisions will be regretted later when your baby is not so perfect andhealthy. A few puffs of a cigarette here and there aaren't likely to do any real damage. But if you barely smoke then why not give it up altogether?
Avatar f tn he want smoke around me. So just look up the facts on second hand smoking then present your facts to your family & let them know your concerns regarding your unborn child.
Avatar n tn Why since I quit smoking and started using the Patch has my run time go from about 15 min 2 mile to 17
Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar f tn I still continued to smoke for a couple of days, but only a couple of puffs from my husbands cigarette 2-3 times a day, then I looked online about the effects off smoking whilst pregnant and quit straight away! There are times when I would like a cigarette but I care for my unborn baby a million times more than a dirty fag! Honestly the best thing you can do is quit, every time you smoke your babies tiny heartbeat has to beat extremely fast as it struggles for oxygen!
Avatar f tn t know how anybody could physically light up a cigarette when pregnant knowing all the facts that we know about smoking. All the studys that have proven how bad it is. I couldn't live with myself!!!
Avatar f tn Rule of thumb, if it's something you wouldn't put in your childs mouth after he/she is born, don't do it while pregnant, it's the same thing. I agree with Clysta.. talk to your doctor and discuss healthy options with him/her to help you out, I've never heard a doctor prescribe weed for morning sickness in my life... or there'd be a LOT more research on effects of smoking weed while pregnant.
