Avatar m tn Hello, My wife has small fiber neuropathy and had been in pain like most. This past weekend she had extreme pain and after 10 years of not smoking she started again. She told me that it takes her pain away better than any medication she is on. I research this a little and found that nicotine will actually cause the SFN to get worse and stop any of here meds that the doctors gave here to work correctly. I need help.
Avatar m tn I too quit with Chantix and my side effects were minimal......bad dreams and a little stomach upset, but it was a small price to pay for getting back my life, which, after smoking for 40 years I never thought would or could happen : ) In addition to Chantix, I also found whyquit.com, which supports a "cold turkey" quit....everyone has access to the articles regardless of the method you choose to aid in your quit.
Avatar f tn I havent personally, but I have done lots of research on the health effects. Aside from that, know your states laws about it. In illinois, they test the baby at birth and if he/comes back positive its an automatic call to childrens services.

Avatar f tn Well have you tried not smoking it to see if you can actually substain being without it? Anything you put in your body that causes you to feel differently physically, mentally, or even emotionally affects your baby, regardless of what anyone says. If you live in Washington, where it's legal, no CPS shouldn't get involved. So it's ultimately your choice to put that stuff in your body and your babys body.
Avatar f tn What are the side effects of smoking when pregnant? Did any of u girls smoke when u were pregnant? I'm 16 weeks and trying to quit but it a lot harder than I thought .

Avatar f tn There are no definitive side effects from weed that we know of BUT I have a few close friends who have smoked their whole pregnancy and multiple pregnancies and their children have birth defects born early and low birth weight so I mean if you wanna chance it then I guess that's up to you but honestly I wouldn't....just because we don't know for sure what kind of effects it has in babies yet doesn't mean there isn't proof around us..
Avatar n tn It took me a long while to get my husband to understand what I was dealing with, with symptomatic TN. Sometimes it helps to find an news article or health article that describes the problem and share it with family/friends. I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you, but if you type "Fosamax side effects" in the SEARCH box at the top of the page -- you'll see postings from other people that are also dealing with similar problems.
Avatar n tn The lungs age with smoking as in comparison to the person’s age. If you stop smoking at this point, the lungs are not damaged any further, though the damage that has already been done cannot be reversed. So, giving up smoking would be first step towards controlling COPD. Along with your medications you could try warm salt water gargles, steam inhalations and breathing exercises for an improvement in your symptoms Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1159737 tn?1286517257 Yes, smoking it has long term effects but the THC its self doesn't have any adverse long term effects. In fact our brain has a receptor specially to receive the chemicals that it contains. I was trying to find the right name for the receptor but if found this story instead http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/04/090420151240.
Avatar n tn I agree with Special Mom, the doctor, (and I agree) will tell you to stop smoking, there are just too many negative side effects to it, plus, you will save some money by stopping.
Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar f tn I still continued to smoke for a couple of days, but only a couple of puffs from my husbands cigarette 2-3 times a day, then I looked online about the effects off smoking whilst pregnant and quit straight away! There are times when I would like a cigarette but I care for my unborn baby a million times more than a dirty fag! Honestly the best thing you can do is quit, every time you smoke your babies tiny heartbeat has to beat extremely fast as it struggles for oxygen!
Avatar f tn The liver filters everything that goes into your body. The chemicals from smoking may not get a first pass through the liver as if you'd eaten them but smoking is not liver friendly.
Avatar f tn If you stop smoking, that's the best thing you can do. You are young, you've only smoked a couple of cigarettes and you can reverse the effects if you quit. Good for you for being concerned about it! Be tough and stop smoking now!
Avatar f tn Look up some articles if you want to know the effects of smoking. You don't want to put anything into your body tat isn't good for either of you while you are pregnant. I don't know of any doctors who would encouraged you to continue smoking unless you are stressing out more from not smoking.
Avatar f tn People have many different opinions but there are no studys that find anything wrong with it unless you are smoking blunts which have tobacco in it or smoking a large amount daily i have also have drs say it would be ok to take a hit if it helps you eat and stops the nausea
