Common Questions and Answers about Smoking effects after 1 year

smoking

Avatar f tn I told myself that after 1 year of being smoke free, I would deal with my gum addiction. The plan of course is to wean myself off of the gum. I thought I would start by cutting the 4 mg in half and see if that works, the problem is I love the gum…. Does anyone here have any good ideas for getting off the darn gum now? I know there is no EZ way out, but any tips would be appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response...After 6 weeks the discomfort seems to be easing up especially after I take my daily walk. As far as smoking...never again! I can't say that I wouldn't like a cigarette and I think about it every day but the fear of what I went thru has kept me smoke free. I smoked for 45 years and never went 24 hours without a cigarette. I can't recommend a respiratory arrest followed by a cardiac arrest ( which I just found out about) as a method to quit smoking...
Avatar m tn Marijuana can cause panic attacks in some people. Mainly in people who have been smoking for a long time, however, I suffered panic attacks after only 4 months of smoking. Marijuana stimulates the pleasure cells in your brain. If you wan't a scientific answer do a web search. Personally, marijuana affects on me were : increased taste, increased hunger, increased sense of hearing, increased sexual pleasure, increased interest in simple or mundane activities, increased paranoia, and sedation.
Avatar f tn I have a close friend who has been addicted to marijuana for a long time, she also smoked during her pregnancy and no they did not test her for it when she gave birth. I don't know much on the effects of marijuana use during pregnancy but I strongly suggest that you look into that for the benefit of the baby. I know that she breastfed for quite a while, continuing to pass the drug onto her child. Our sons are the same age and have been friends since infancy.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with diabetes 5 months ago and i just recently just started smoking weed again after 7 years of smoking, and what i wanted to know is does marijauna have any negative effects while ur a diabetic??

Avatar m tn Long term effects of smoking 1 year in your very early 20's. Serious? No Worries. Glad you stopped. Take care of yourself and you should be fine. Lung Cancer is a crap shoot anyway. Chris Reeves' wife died of it and never smoked. Some folks smoke there whole life and no problem. Your biggest problem with smoking that goes unspoken of usually is COPD, and its a serious problem. Good Job for quitting. You will be better off for it.
Avatar f tn We have been wanting another baby, but wow it happened. Our oldest will be 2 in Feb. My question is, just this year I started smoking so my last pregnancy I didn't have to worry about it. I want the best for my little seed growing in me, but everytime I tell myself this is the last one all j can think about is another cigarette. I don't want meds bit cold turkey isn't working either.
Avatar f tn Nice information about quitting smoking side effects. Quitting smoking side effects are mainly to do with the body trying to detox itself from all of the harmful chemicals that you have been putting into your body by smoking cigarettes. You always have to bear in mind from the beginning of any attempt at quitting smoking that the benefits for you are going to be fantastic. Mild depression or sadness, there goes your best friend that you turned to in need.
Avatar m tn I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
Avatar f tn After quitting the opiates early this year, I tried and tried to keep smoking because it was the only thing I had to hang onto that made me feel like old times. However, as time passed and my senses came back to me, taste and smell mostly, I noticed I was smoking fewer and fewer cigs/day. Then I started noticing that I was putting them out when about 1/2 smoked, then taking a few drags and putting out. Finally I just could'nt stand the taste and smell of them anymore.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 27 years old male and have been smoking from last 6 years with 1 year gap in 2010-11. I haven't smoked since 1 march 2013, not a single cigarette. I finally quit smoking now. But I am having chest pain on right side which is also going to my back also. I have cough and some times I spit out black mucus. I consulted with a lung specialist and told him all the things and done X-ray and CT scan of chest, the reports were all normal.
17066118 tn?1453419384 I have a few suggestions because I was having this going on this past year also. For 1 I was drinking TOO much water. My kidneys failed back in April working only at 16 percent. The Kidney Dr.. states we should only drink up to 1 liter of water a day.. At least that is what he suggested for me. Also my sodium and potassium was dangerously low so I would suggest getting these checked. You can have this done by a blood test.
Avatar m tn I never tried smoking weed/cannabis/sativa in my life before. This was my first time. I quit smoking cigarettes for almost a year now. I don’t drink alcohol. I did following investigations: 1. brain MRI , 3. blood and urine test 4. ECG All results were good and doctors confirmed that all signs are normal. please advise what can I do to gain my senses and become normal like before.

Avatar n tn I am a 62 year old woman with breast cancer. I was treated with cytoxin and taxotere and now receiving Herceptin. I have had five treatments with Herceptin. My MUGA scan pre chemo and herceptin showed 77.7%. Now after these treatments I have dropped to 61%. I am not overweight, but do have some cardio risk factors, i.e smoking, high blood presure and high cholesteral, also a family history (father) of heart disease. Should I continue the Herceptin? Have frequent MUGA tests?

Avatar n tn m 19 years old, in my second year of college and have been smoking pot since I was 14. I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 16 and personally I haven't found any problems with the marijuana itself raising or dropping my blood sugar levels; as most people say on here, it's the munchies that'll bite you in the butt. my a1c level is at a 7.2, so I can really say I've got things pretty well under control (although still not where I'd like to be).
Avatar n tn I have been smoking marijuana for about two years with no negative effects on my body. The past three times that I have smoked I have had a "bad reaction" in which my entire body shakes uncontrollably (even my teeth), my heart feels like it's going to beat out of my chest, and I feel cold and disoriented. What causes this? What can I do to avoid it? Is it safe to continue smoking? I haven't since the last time that it happened.
Avatar n tn I thought I wouldnt be able to cope, my wife smokes, and she still smokes to my dismay, her grandmother is sick with COPD and on oxygen, and she still will not even read what I read about the effects of smoking..her grandmother just had to give up after being hospitalized for the umpteenth time... I though I wouldnt be able to, I bought some Nicorette inhaler cartridges, then I decided not to use them as I wanted to clear my body of Nicotine once and for all...
596485 tn?1253821678 Thanks Kathy Jo for the feedback you always have great imput!!! I will check out whyquit articles again:) I don't really feel it was as much as a real urge, want or need for me as it was just plain being stupid and making a dumb choice. I don't want to smoke anymore for the most part. The weight thing is just something I am going to have to accept. It's a much smaller deal than the damage done by my smoking I know. I also think I should spend a little more time here!!
