Common Questions and Answers about Smoking dangers for children

smoking

Avatar f tn Hi. I'm just curious in people's opinions of something. I am an ex smoker. No longer have the habit. My child's daycare have been taught that smoking kills people etc.. so move away from people if they're smoking. A lot of parents from the daycare have come in abusing the child care Centre as they're smokers and there young children keep telling them they're going to die.
Avatar f tn Ur not useless. And ur aiding in blessing the world with another life. Don't be so hard on urself. In addition to writing down good things about ur baby write down positive things about urself. Whether you quit or not is up to u & I'm not here 2 sway u one way or the other. I'm sure u are already aware of the dangers. My sis in law has 5 children and smoked with all of them. All 5 are healthy. Do what u can & don't beat urself up over what u can't.
Avatar f tn I put up a post in the 25-34,forum yesterday about e-cigs and the dangers of the fluid, especially to children.
Avatar m tn There is more concentration on what kind of person you should feel like for smoking than the physical dangers of tobacco. Lastly, raising prices for something in terrible economic times is only causing crime to rise, and it continues every day. So these methods or ideas to stop smoking are not working to good. So comes the last attempt, make it illegal. This desperate idea will cause nothing but things to get worse.

Avatar f tn Not only is the action of smoking itself is detrimental to the health of the baby, but we do not know how cannabis intake can affect the developing brain.I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent.
Avatar f tn Yeah there is no way I'm smoking anything right now lol thank you :) I just wasn't sure if it was safe or not for me to be around it
Avatar f tn This may be a good opportunity to start educating your 2 year old on the dangers of cigarette smoking. Teach him not to ever pick them up, especially when he’s older and others around him may be smoking.
Avatar f tn Many women have similar concern and many are able to quit their bad habits in order to have healthy children. It is quite amazing how what we find impossible to do for our own sakes, we women are able to do for the sake of our children. It shows our strength and the strength of our love for them. I know without a doubt that you will be able to do it as well. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn s ever to early to discuss the dangers of alcohol/drugs with your children. My mother and father were BOTH raging alcoholics and I am NOT! I agree that it can be passed down but we also have a CHOICE. educate your son on the dangers, have his dad tell him his struggles, and lead by example. That's all we can do as parents. I agree with the above about sugar and processed foods! Its addicting in and of itself....
Avatar f tn Amen!!!!thankyou for putting this on here!im sick to death of women making excuses for smoking while being pregnant! I smoked for 16 years and tried everything to give up but failed each n every time but the moment I found out I was pregnant with my first baby I stopped cold turkey there n then. The guilt of what smoking could do to my baby was too much! My sister smoked through her whole pregnancy and it made me sick to my stomach for her baby. There is no excuse.
Avatar n tn i am a 16 year old diabetic type 1 who would like to know the dangers of smoking cannabis?
7680419 tn?1399056811 s may prescribe through there lives and the possible dangers that some can have and how yes they can also help. But to just always ask questions. It just dawned on me that I have taught them about (street drugs) but nothing about prescription. Other then take as prescribed. I have talked to my step son though several times. He is 17 and has gone to the family doc and got some anti depretion meds.
Avatar n tn re most likely laid up, I would like to suggest a website called whyquit.com. While your recovering, you can educate yourself on the dangers of smoking. You are very young and quitting now will be a lot easier than 10 or 20 years from now. To answer your question simply though; YES, one or two cigs a day will hurt you! Good Luck! :) --- 3m 4d 16:55 smoke-free, 1,433 cigs not smoked, $394.
Avatar f tn I am wondering...is this anything like quitting smoking? I smoked for 23 years, and could not imagine life without my "best friends", my cigarettes. I mean...what would I do when the phone rang, when I got in the car, after I was done eating, when I went out, sat next to the pool, etc etc. I remember thinking how will I EVER ENJOY life again without my cigarettes. But, my fear of cancer, emphaysima, won.
Avatar f tn With my first I quit the second I found out. I was 17 my parents wouldn't quit in the house so they only did it in their room only and I freaked if I saw it anywhere else. I loved smoking but my son is more important. 6 years later I still don't smoke.
Avatar f tn thanks i dont smoke but my best friend does and shes 15 weeks hmm
Avatar f tn SIDS as well as second hand smoke dangers to you and you baby are important considerations in maintaining health for both of you. There are good prescription options for quitting smoking if your husband is willing to discuss them with his doctor. Chantix has had great success and well as Wellbutrin and quitting will keep him healthier for his baby too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I agree with @renos1stbaby Everyone has different experiences(good/bad) and everyones pregnancy is different. You should talk to your doctor about smoking. It is not usually recommended during pregnancy for multiple reasons.. But your doctor can give you more facts than opinions which can help you understand more and hopefully help you make the right decision!
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, my Father has been smoking a LOT of Cigarettes since the age of 12, and hasn't stopped inbetween once, and i'm seriously worried about his health now, he's constantly coughing really aggressively, and i'm worried eventually the worst is going to happen - Cancer. I keep telling him to stop, but I know he won't. He is 45 by the way. What can I do to make him stop? And if he carries on smoking like this, will he eventually get cancer?
1431734 tn?1421011671 In fact, my husband, who has cirrhosis, has been given given Benadryl as a mild sedative, and was recommended to try it for his Riba itch (though it didn't help much with that, and he was given Atarax). Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn t smoke weed, but just keep in mind, alot of states now have mandatory drug screening when you go into labor. And if your positive it has to be reported to Children Services. Just something to think about.
Avatar f tn Smoking may aggravate any of these problems and many more and could be one of the reasons for the disorder. therefore given the dangers associated with smoking, you should quit it as early as possible. Further you may try OTC pain killers ,local applications and hot fomentation for now and await relief for one-two days. in case the pain does not cease or gets worse you should visit your doctor immediately. You may also rest a few days and avoid exercises such as swimming.
Avatar f tn I'm always wondering if I may be pregnant. If so I would be 3 weeks now. I've researched and found a forum about smoking marijuana during the first trimester. They say it's not bad for your child. It could just be my addiction looking for excuses. Please doctor, what are the dangers I could be in if I am in fact pregnant and smoking about a join per day for the past week?
