Hi, have you by any chance figured out what the problem was? I'm suffering of the same annoying bleach/ammonia smell in my nose. Reading about liver/kidney failure and brain tumors on google.. doesn't exactly help... Please tell me you figured it out.
When I do any cardiovascular exercise and start to get winded, I get a very strong ammonia like smell in my nose, like it is coming out of my lungs. This smell is not coming from outside my body, but internally. It's almost like the alcohol smell that goes up the back of your nose when you drink a shot of liquor.
I have had this all my life and just sort of assumed it was the same for everybody, but apparently other people don't have the same thing.
What could be causing it?
I just used my neti pot for the first time in weeks..I felt a strange burning in the back of my head and almost gagged from the ammonia smell in my sinus'. It is starting to fade now, but I must admit it scared me. Anyone have any clues?
Another symptom the article gave was an ammonia smell in the nose. Someone commented once that they smelled ammonia. I truly believe this is the cause of my problems. Another thing that surprised me is that I remember taking pepto bismuth and it would make some difference. I read that pepto bismuth, activated charcoal and gas x are all good . I think I will follow a low sulphur diet and see if it helps. Joint pain is also a symptom which I do have and doctors has said it is not arthritis.
If the liver is decompromised it cannot metabolize the waste products hence there is an elevation of blood ammonia levels resulting in increased excretion in the urine. Also, increased levels of ammonia may also be seen with gastrointestinal bleeding, where the blood cells are haemolysed in the intestines, releasing protein. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

A couple of years ago, I was having a terrible problem with odor -- ammonia and just kind of a dead smell was oozing out of my pores. It really was terrible and even though I showered all the time the smell was still there. Finally, I came to realize it was Tramadol causing the odor because when I quit taking them, the odor went away.
I've also heard others talk about body odor and sometimes it can come from drinking alcohol if you have cirrhosis.
s mainly the smell of the processing chemicals (ammonia) that is bad for you. As long as where you get your color done is nice and ventilated you should be fine. If you go to a professional, some of them even have special dyes without the harsh ammonia smell that might be a better option for you. You can also highlight/lowlight, less dye gets on your scalp when they pull your hair through a cap. Hope this helps!
After putting the table into the car and returning to the house, I had an overpowering scent take over in my nose. It reminded me of nail polish remover fumes. My husband and daughter were both home and said they did not smell anything unusual. I will add that I was ill with a nasty head and chest cold. It totally baffled me that noone else could smell this strong chemical odour because the smell was so powerful to me.
I'm a color specialist and it is Ok to color your hair. . You Can use ammonia free if you are scared about the ammonia but you can use normal color as well. Be In well ventilated area or you can wear a mask to cover your nose and mouth so you don't smell the fumes. . Especially If you get highlights. I have heard your hair might go funny colors due to hormones but all of the colors I have done on pregnant ladies turned out awesome. . So I guess it just effects people differently.

The smell of ammonia in the urine comes from "urea". Bacteria that contaminate the urine will convert chemicals in the urine into smelling chemicals that are responsible for the distinctive smell, such as ammonia. You can give his urine sample for testing. With a kidney stone chances of infection are high.
Some foods like proteins cause the excretion of nitrogen compounds (ammonia and urea). Hence these foods can be reduced in diet.
What people are smelling when they eat asparagus is the breakdown of a sulfur compound called methyl mercaptan (the same compound found in garlic and skunk secretions). I don't think its the smell, but the ammonia? Theres something in the cat pee that can harm the baby, but its not the smell itself. If you must clean the litter box wear a medical mask and wash your hands and arms really well. Even change clothes if possible.
Hello: Occassionally when having a bowel movement, I notice a very strong odor of ammonia. It reminds me of the odor at the camp outhouses. I haven't been able to figure any similarities between instances (recent eating habits, activities, etc.). We eat a round diet of meat, veggies and fruits. My bowel movements for the most part are good in regularity and consistency. The only medical condition I've had lately was with high blood pressure.
