Small lump behind ear lobe

Common Questions and Answers about Small lump behind ear lobe

lump

I recently had a small lump directly behind one ear lobe almost in the crease. I did panic. I got it checked, one person said he thought it was just a benign cyst (wasn't 100%) a week later a triage nurse said it was a lymph node. A third doctor said it could've been either. My question is, the cyst or node never formed a head but was definitely attached to the skin layer. I thought nodes were always under the skin??
Cervical nodes are about an inch behind the bottom part of your ear, rather than immediately behind it. Your doctor can biopsy this lump if he/she is concerned about it. Good luck, I hope it all turns out well.
I suddenly have a lump that showed up on the my right ear just below the ear lobe, its small but very painful to touch and is very hard. It moves when you touch it and it has caused my ear a slight swelling. It's not red or anything and the ear lobe doesn't hurt when it's touch, if anyone has some kinda of info on what it could be please email me at ***@****.
I have a small lump growing behind my ear. I have to say Im a bit concerned. Its bigger than a pea and smaller than a walnut, maybe the size of a small marble. Its feels rather sore and warm which makes me think its some type of pus filled internal skin infection. Well, I hope its not a tumor. The problem here is I have no health insurance and practically no money. So Im not really sure what to do.
Several years ago I noticed a small bump behing my right ear lobe. It is on the crease behind the lobe. I could actually move it back and forth like a Ganglion cyst. So I left it alone. It has always been there. Doesn't get bigger or smaller and doesn't hurt. All of a sudden over the past couple of days it has grown 3-4 times it's size and is very sore. Is this something I should be concerned about? Can a Ganglion (if that's what it is) become swollen and sore like that?
i too have had a small pea sized lump on my ear at the back, just near to the crease. (if you put your finger just behind the lobe and rest it in the soft part, it is just above there) it is tender to touch and has been there for nearly 3 months. i dont think it has changed in size and it isnt a different colour so you wouldnt see it there until you feel it. i have not had the chance to go and see the doctor mainly because im not that worried about it but im curious to know what it could be.
my girlfriend is 16 turn 17 soon and she's had a small lump on the bone behind her right ear but it is not as big as it was its smaller now she's had it for a few months now she's been to the doctors twice and they say its coming from swallen glans... but she is still worried can any1 help us please ....
i woke up this morning with a big lump behind my right ear its very sensitive and painful its more of a pressure type pain.i think its a swollen lymph node but im not sure.
And its directly behind my ear lobe. I know its under the skin because when I move my skin around its still in its original place and moves lightly. Its pretty sensitive and right now my ear is just popping. http://www.surgerystudios.com/myearbump/problem.jpg That is exactly what it looks like. and yes I am a 3d designer. So thats exactly where the bump is and how big it is right now. I think I have a mild migraine that I usually have every single day and I am used to it.
After two weeks he developed a hard painful swelling behind his right ear. It was small at first but noticed it had enlarged but not painful anymore. Worried about the size of the swelling as it is that of a small marble. Also two weeks before he went for the sputum test he had an infection of a pimple like swelling on his right ear lobe. There was pus. I had cleaned it with an antiseptic lotion and had applied an antibiotic ointment. It has since healed.
I think i did bang my ear a little while ago but cant remember for shure, the lump is behind the ear and is like a small pea.its above the ear lobe. Please advise as i am a bit worried. Thanks. This discussion is related to Lump behind my ear???.

Hi, I noticed a couple weeks ago that there was a small rice-like bump behind my ear lobe. I kept massaging it hoping it would spread and go away, but it got a little bigger and split into two-conjoining bumps. It doesn't hurt, but if I squeeze it, it is like a mixture of soft tissue and cartilage that can shift slightly. Just yesterday I suddenly got a pain in my ear that hurts when I chew or move my jaw.
My husban is 54 yrs old and two days ago started with an oter ear ache, he now has a small lump behind the ear , just just inside where the lobe meets the jawbone,it is very painfull and he is concern, please tellme if this is serious.
They have always been there about as long as I can remember, I assumed they were cartlidge or bone I was feeling, is this correct or could it be anything worse. They dont hurt to touch nor do they move, this isnt behind the ear lobe so know not a gland, much higher up on the head behind the ear. Im just going through a slight feeling all lumps and bumps stage I think at mo, oops. Ive never worried about them before as there is one on each side and they arent big and feel just like bone.
I now believe that it may be a lymph node (at present it is unnoticeable, having shrank). Around a week later I noticed a small hard lump behind my ear - just under a centimetre in diameter and literally in the crease between my ear lobe and my neck. I don't know if that lump was there when the jaw lump was, because I didn't check. However, both lumps worried me (i was thinking cancer), to the point that I fiddled with them and eventually they became really sore and painful to touch...
About 5 months ago I noticed a little smaller than a pea (I would actually have to feel around for it) beside my jaw bone under my ear lobe. Now it is about 1cm maybe a little smaller but deffinatly bigger than it was 5 months ago. I have no pain associated with it and no sxs of infection or illness. I feel very healthy and well. I do not have any issue with my salvary system AEB no excessive mouth watering or pain when i think or eat lemons and salty things.
For the last 2 yrs I have also been getting painful sharp pain in my right eye. Something strange is growing behind my right ear one is almost like a blister more oval, the other a little bigger and hard they feel sore if I press it. May Dr says I may be hypothyroid what really concerns me is cancer. Is there a chance I may have it or can these symptoms be normal? I appreciate your opinion.
This drainage can also back up into the Eustachian tube behind the ear causing pressure to build up in the TMJ that may appear as a very slight swelling of the joint. Some doctors will think you have an allergy and will treat the "allergy" instead of the eye problem. Since your problem is re-occuring and the allergy meds aren't working very well, it might be a good idea to see the optometrist and get your eyes checked out.
I don't get them anywhere besides my bikini line (and occasionally behind my ear if I sleep with earring in) and think it is more associated with shaving and confining clothes than anything. And perhaps an infection in my nostrils. I will have to keep you posted on that one.

Small hard lumps located along the line from ear lobe to the sternum-clavicle join can be palpable lymph nodes. As a rule, if thyroid pathology is suspected the imaging study of lymph nodes is required.
I am now 27 yrs old. I just had a recurrent infection. It usually forms an abscess behind my ear cos the pit was sewn shut by the Dr during the first surgery. This last episode was the last straw. Went to my ENT Dr's office to schedule 2nd surgery on monday. Surgery was supposed to be for tmro but cos abscess poped today. Dr said we have to cancel surgery till further notice. Said since its been recurring for many years. It will be hard to find all the tracts due to scar tissue.

I feel an itchy spot in the back of my throat nasopharynx region, behind the uvula, and can kind of see a small irritated area. I can feel a hard kind of lump in the upper neck, right side, about an inch below the jawline. Several small swollen glands around. Also, when I swallow, not only do I visualize the thyroid, under the sternomastoid muscle, just above the thyoid, there seems to be an additional lump.
Feels like a cord is tugging me from behind my ear (skull) down the neck and into shoulder/clavicle. Not sure if that accident is to blame. Had issues before that but 1 month post accident I felt something "tear/burn" in the neck and things got much wose. No bladder problems. Chronic constipation and history of ulcerative colitis which has been inactive. No swelling... do have muscle pain in areas near kidney (qudradus lumborum/psoas etc).
