Avatar f tn Is it ok to drink slim fast while pregnant? I have gained too much weight so far. I started out tiny and now my mid section is huge! I'm not looking to lose weight but eating hurts. My lower back is in excruciating pain and I know it's from the weight gain and due to my belly sticking so far out. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant and I feel the only option is to eat tiny meals to keep up my energy because after I eat my stomach feels so tight b it just hurts.

Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. Try walking at a reasonable pace. Also look into yoga as it's low impact and done at a slow very deliberate pace. Be sure to watch what you eat as well - might also help the e-coli infection.

Some of our most immediate concerns revolve around diet. We fully understand how to do the calculations we need, how to check labels, really most of the basics. But we are also trying to find resources that are a little more specific as to snacks that are no-carb, low-carb.
Avatar f tn I agree with Shaun84. Follow a low carb meal plan which will help reduce the need for the drug, and people have successfully reversed diabetes via this diet therapy. In fact, I rescued my mom from this horrible disease and reversed it out of her life. Much better than dealing with meds that give you the runs, or makes you vomit, or worse having to start poking yourself with insulin on a regular basis.

Avatar n tn Try doing your cardio training last. Also start doing interval spurts. (really fast for 1 min, slow for 2 mins). Change your diet. Low carbs, high fat and protien.

There are a few recipes on his website. Right now I am using the Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie. It tastes awesome and it actually keeps me full for over 6 hours. I have zero cravings for food and sweets. I've cut back my dinner portion.

Avatar m tn I had the same problem. I had low LDL but also low HDL and hight triglycerides. I was taking 40mg of Atorvastatin a day but diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia. My Cardiologist added 10mg Ezetimibe to my regime and it acted like a turbo booster to my statin. Within a week my LDL was lower still, my HDL raised and my Trigs lowered right down. Statins work on the Liver, Ezetimibe works on the Digestive tract to prevent so much fat being absorbed.
Avatar n tn I have been also on low carb diet for awhile now and everything works great. My blood sugar is normalized and I lost considerable weights too. During the first days of my low-carb diet, I felt bloated too. Take this as a transition period, also since low carb means ingesting more vegetables, some vegs like spinach does cause bloating for me. Increasing fat and meat servings help me a lot. Bloating could also mean you lack some enzymes for particular types of food.
944604 tn?1283198925 I've been on the carb plan and the protein plan I guess I have to go to a specialist, because I am still having hypoglycemic days a lot. I took GTT test and they said Diabetes with hypoglycemic moments. If I am sick my readings are closer to normal or slightly high, but if I am well I get lots of lows, then I get frustrated and eat pasta and it goes high, then drops too low again. It's very frustrating.
Avatar n tn Many people with diabetes find that a low carb diet (est. 100 g/day) or even a very low carb diet (est 40 - 60g)/day works for them. The carbs come mainly from non-starchy vegetables. You will have to work out by trial and error (using your meter) what works for you. Also you will need to check out how to properly dose both basal and bolus insulin. Look up dr. Richard Bernstein. His book is called diabetes solution.
1110747 tn?1295844043 I actually asked a pharmacist if it was ok to take, and she said that it causes a lot of problems with people. If you read the back you'll see a list of possible side effects. If I were you I'd try something like slim fast. I went to their website and they say it's ok to take before you get pregnant and even while you are pregnant, there's nothing in it to make you lose weight it's just a milk shake and the snack bars are like a not so junky candy bar.

10894761 tn?1413637884 If you feel that your heart rate is higher after eating high carb meals, it may be caused by low blood sugar after eating carbs (reactive hypoglucemia). The solution if that's the case is avoiding high carb meals or adding proteins and healthy fat.

I do fine during the day, but at night I have noticed I am having a terrible time not craving and giving in to these cravings for carbs. Bread and sweets in particular. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I did lose 7 lbs the first week, but I'm concerned about regaining if I fall off this plan. Thanks again!

Playing defense taking 3 different types of insulin a day all day. Recently my doc changed my insulins to 1 toujeo but it is impartive that I take fast acting with every meal according to the carb count.I have no idea what I'm doing. And despite my efforts they still sky rocket after I eat.
