Slightly high glucose levels

Common Questions and Answers about Slightly high glucose levels

glucose

Avatar n tn The range of 70-126 is considered normal before eating a meal, or as a fasting glucose level. So although the one test at slightly above 200 does seem suspect, one test alone is probably not something your doctor would base a diagnosis on. Most doctors will do a fasting glucose reading, perhaps a glucose tolerance test, or perhaps a hemoglobin a1c test, which would show the average glucose level in your body during a 3-month period.
Avatar n tn Caffeine can make my glucose levels rise a couple of hours later also. Not always, but often. I compensate by testing a couple of hours after my first sip of coffee and compensating with a tiny bit of insulin if glucose levels are rising. I believe that in my case, my body starts producing adrenalin when the caffeine kicks in. And adrenalin can make sugars rise. So I suspect that this effect is different for different people.

Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
1372516 tn?1297265962 That is a slightly high number. Anything under 200 is great and is not considered diabetic. Watch your carbs and keep the baby on a diet. Babies are Carb magnets. The best baby magnets are born upwards of 10 ponds. Once born, they suffer from sugar withdrawal. Not good for the baby. No concentrated sugars, milk has a lot of hidden sugar, fruit juices, um..candy of course, chips potatoes, breads, the white stuff.
576054 tn?1217783138 My doctor will be doing tests in a few weeks, but I have had some fairly high glucose levels lately. I also have a history of high blood pressure although that has been better most of the time lately. Tonight all of a sudden I started having a terrible headache and nausea. My glucose level was somewhat high. So either this was due to the glucose levels or due to high blood pressure. Whatever it is, I am so tired of being sick and tired all of the time.
Avatar n tn The reason is that diabetic women have a slightly greater than normal chance of miscarriages or of birth defects if glucose levels are high.
Avatar n tn I believe there's some confusion on glucose levels so I'll try to clear that up for you. A fasting glucose of 97 mg/dl is not high but is leaning towards the upper range of normal. Normal fasting is between 60/70 to 99 mg/dl Prediabetes is 100 to 125 mg/dl Diabetes is considered 126 mg/dl and above The 5.2% A1c does indicate a slightly elevated level of 103 mg/dl but I would rule that towards your pregnancy.
Avatar m tn In each test everything was normal (all liver function tests, kidney, cholesterol, and glucose) except in each test my ALT liver enzyme has been slightly elevated (72, 52, 62, 64, and 68, respectfully). I am a 26 years old male and I am not overweight, I excercise regularly, and I am displaying no symptoms of anything. As far as I can tell I am completely healthy.
Avatar f tn So I went to my first glucose test and was told I had to come back for a 3 hour test because my sugar was a little high.... Should I be worried about this? Is it normal to have slightly elivated sugar levels when It you're prego?
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar n tn We are not physicians, so please check anything we write with your own physician. Your symptoms could be either high or low glucose, and the purchase of the glucometer is the best way to find out if abnormal glucose levels are the cause of your symptoms. The normal non-diabetic's glucose ranges from 70-126 when fasting. I have read that after meals, glucose levels can go up to about 146 before a person is considered in the diabetic range.
Avatar n tn ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?
Avatar f tn Lupo, My husband recently had fasting blood work done to check Thyroid and glucose levels. His glucose, A1c, calcium and triglyceride levels all came back high. Avatar m tn It was after fasting and around a week after the fever stopped, but the spleen and the liver were still enlarged (ordinary symptoms of mono presumable). I will redo the tests in the coming week and let you know what the tendency is => does the glucose level went down or up. What should I do in the meantime? How should I change my diet?
173119 tn?1296999736 I am pre-diabetic, and I was wondering if it was normal for blood sugars to be a bit higher when suffering from an illness, like a cold. I have a cold right now, and my blood glucose levels have been testing slightly higher since I have been sick. Will they go back down after the cold is gone? My fasting glucose this morning was 133 and it is usually around 110 to 112. And my 2 hr post-prandial glucose after lunch today was 133.
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar m tn The body recognizes intense exercise as a stress and releases stress hormones that tells your body to increase available blood glucose to fuel your muscles. If your glucose levels exceed normal levels discuss with your doctor medication or medication adjustment.
1084115 tn?1385228589 Studies are finding even slightly elevated glucose levels (pre-diabetic) can have adverse effects on the body. The normal cutoff with most labs is 100 but ideally people should try and keep their glucose level below 85. The metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes is becoming an epidemic in most of the world. If people only knew how much damage elevated glucose does to the body, i.e. heart , vascular & kidney disease. Just to name a few.
Avatar n tn When reading your comments, it occurred to me that your symptoms, including the slightly low glucose reading on your glucose tolerance test sound more like hypoglycemia than diabetes. Hypoglycemia means that your blood sugar is too LOW, not high (diabetes).
Avatar f tn High levels of bilirubin could mean your liver is not functioning correctly. However, high levels can also be due to medications, exercise, or certain foods. Bilirubin is also a product of breakdown of red blood cells, and an elevated reading may be related to disorders of red blood cells and not liver disease. Do you work out a lot?
Avatar m tn Keep in mind that your liver plays an important part in the bodies regulation of serum glucose levels, but this process is pretty complicated and not well understood. Also, many people with diabetes have fatty livers which can cause mild elevations. So you will need to work with your doctor to figure out what exactly is going on in your case. We can only guess here with the numbers you've provided.
