Sleep unix function

Common Questions and Answers about Sleep unix function

sleep

Avatar m tn I did it for a long time myself on a great many UNIX systems using many editors, each used the ESC key as the master Meta key. I had to change editors myself since I had crippled my left hand (right was fine) by constantly extending my left hand during meta function. Amazing what a simple thing, done many times can do. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn You are right, if you are a computer geek (a unix one at least) you'll understand when I say the pounds lost should do this: /home/user1/poundslost | /dev/null and not to /home/user2/poundsgained -- geez, I'm a geek. It's bad when you start programming your weight loss via a computer program. Too bad that doesn't work in real life. Back on track today, thus far. need to drink my water, I've kind of been slack on that.

Avatar f tn What is important is that you get the best sleep that your body requires. If you seem to function best on this cycle then I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if it becomes a bother, or you are truely concerned about it, then I would mention it to your doctor.
Avatar f tn t sleep during the day cuz I have my 2yr old son. I sure do miss my sleep at night.
Avatar m tn My doctor told me to take 2 Hydrozyzine 50mg and 1 Ambien 5mg at bedtime. He told me I would sleep like a baby and this would help me get the rest during my drug withdrawals. Yes... He knows everything now and is doing his best to help. The 1st night I took them I slept the entire 8 hours uninterrupted, but last night was much different. I tossed and turned all night and was running another marathon under the sheets. (RLS) What am I doing wrong? Why the "noodle legs" today?
8305112 tn?1402009678 I miss having a regular sleep schedule. One day I need naps just to function as a human being, then other days I can't sleep and I'm up until 2am knitting. With all of my other symptoms, I would really like the second trimester to get here sooner.

4341997 tn?1514588688 i did sleep off and on for 4-5 hrs.....i need solid sleep to function.....anyone have thoughts on how long it took to get REAL sleep??
Avatar f tn Just like any other characteristics you are born with, the amount of sleep you need to function best may be different for you than for someone who is of the same age and gender. On an average it ranges from 7-9 hrs for an adult. As long as you are fresh on awakening and do not have excessive daytime sleepiness, your sleep is adequate. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I am no stranger to sleep paralysis, I get short 3 - 4 second periods of these at least 6 - 8 times a month. This on the other hand was earlier today after a long sleep, I woke up for a bit and turned around in bed, all of a sudden i lose muscle control in all of my body. this also only lasts a short time, maybe 10 seconds or so. The difference in this episode is the fact that I had absolutely no hallucinations and the likes which i have always had before with sleep paralysis.
6403762 tn?1381712518 ll have no sleep from having a new born. I can function off little sleep, but idk how much longer I can survive with no sleep.
Avatar f tn Im to the point where im so exhausted during the day I can bearly function. Im grumpy and moody as **** when im normally a very happy person. I just want to sleep through the night! Help! Any advice or tricks that you dont normally hear?
Avatar m tn EEG can identify the sleep cycle which is a repetition of 4 to 6 cycles of NREM non rapid eye movement and REM rapid eye movement sleep starting with NREM sleep. With lack of sleep there is reduction In the time spent in the deepest stages of NREM( stages 3 and 4). Any loss in this activity is replaced by stage 2 NREM sleep. The EEG can read these phases of sleep and can give clue to a sleep deficit. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me for any clarifications.

Avatar f tn Anybody having problems not be able to sleep and feeling like you have to throw up but you can't and it feel like its stuck
Avatar m tn The symptoms you are experiencing could be due to an entity called sleep paralysis. When this happens in sleep the person has difficulty moving his hands or feet. This is the symptom of a sleep disorder called Narcolepsy. This sleep disorder is characterized by excessive day time sleepiness, sleep paralysis, cataplexy where the person has episodes of loss of muscle function while awake, hypnogogic hallucinations and automatic behavior.
Avatar f tn I was eventually diagnosed as hyper-thyroid last year when I developed major insomnia. The thyroid hormones were over the limit but not that high. I was put on low dose carbimizole. Slowly slowly my sleep began to improve. But now a year later I can't sleep again. Only couple hours a night. I'm also getting very hot again at night and keep throwing off the covers. I recently had my thyroid function tested. I am on the borderline for being high, sorry don't have the specifics.

3862348 tn?1348379200 This sleep disorder is characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep paralysis, cataplexy where the person has episodes of loss of muscle function while awake, hypnagogic hallucinations and automatic behavior. You will need to consult your primary care physician, who may schedule you for a polysomnogram (sleep test) to rule out sleep disorders and initiate appropriate therapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bipolar a month ago. The pdoc has been working with the dosage of Lamictal. I went up to 150 mg but had severe swelling. He put me on 50 mg on Tuesday. I have not slept well in weeks. I have had an especially hard time since I dropped down, getting only about three hours a night. I can't function on that little sleep. The doc gave me 25 mg of seroquel. I used it last night and slept much better. Is sleep always going to be a problem with bipolar meds?
