Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar m tn If they find you sleep fine, then your memory problems may be associated with something entirely unrelated to sleep. For example, let us say you have been dealing with a lot of pain from an old injury, or you are just generally so stressed out all day that you cannot focus on what's going on, or you've got some sort of oxygenation problem, or your blood cell count is off via disease or nutrition, then any one of these things can cause loss of focus.
Avatar f tn Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
1534024 tn?1294246075 In addition, about 3 weeks ago I started having digestive problems, I became highly irritable during the day, my memory has gotten bad, I have increased sensitivity to light, and problems concentrating. When I wake up I don't feel refreshed and I can't remember the last time I had a dream. I had to stop taking my college classes because I am too tired and can't concentrate. Any ideas of what this could be?
1399170 tn?1333845258 Hi, My name is Mike, and I'm 15 years old. For the past few years I have been experiencing memory problems. I don't forget serious things like names, just small things like homework, things I've said a few days before, even things I ate on the same day sometimes.
414131 tn?1202530891 I am experiencing various problems mostly with memory. I am 49 and was diagnosed a year ago with diabetes. My A1C was 6.5. I was very tired. I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All I had to do is sit down and start to relax. My brain was not working so well either. My memory was becoming almost a thing of the past. I was having what I call random access bad sectors. It would strike randomly and I never knew if I would recover what I just forgot.
Avatar m tn I was recommended by my physical therapist to get a Sleep Number bed as opposed to a Memory foam because you can set how firm or soft you want it. I got my Sleep Number bed last November, and when I don't sleep on it (on vacation, at my parent's house), I definitely see a difference and I long for MY bed. Sometimes they have factory sales, and we got ours for like 30% off.
Avatar m tn Military soldiers are under attack by so many conditions acquired by performing their job. Here is some information you may be able to use before checking-in at a military hospital. It appears that the pain in your arms may be affected my muscle or nerve damage. Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
Avatar n tn your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of. When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds. In other words, my depression caused my memory loss. The medications actually restored my memory loss. So plz call your Doc and tell him/her of your memory problem.
Avatar m tn If all brain related causes (transient ischemic attack, disorders of hypothalamus, dementia and multiple sclerosis, head injury etc) are ruled out then Vit B12 deficiency, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders (by sleep studies), depression, use of certain drugs, and certain types of seizures (where memory loss is the predominant symptom) should be investigated for as the cause of memory loss.
Avatar f tn Like someone mentioned, make sure you tell the DR everything, about the personality changes, the sleep problems and the memory. I am glad that at least the headaches are better!! Is he on any meds for them? That could be another cause of these symptoms especially if they use an antidepressant drug which they sometimes prescribe for migraines. Take care of yourself and I'm praying for your DS, you and your family xx Carolyn So it sounds like it is Chiari messing things up for you DS...
Avatar n tn It indicated that half of people undergoing bypass surgery developed memory or thinking problems in the days following it, and that these problems were usually still evident five years later. A different viewpoint: Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery.
Avatar m tn I agree with you that irregular sleep patterns are linked with memory loss. A sleep deprived person cannot focus attention optimally therefore cannot learn efficiently. Secondly sleep itself has a role in consolidation of memory which is essential for learning new information. For proper memory function, acquisition, consolidation and recall.
Avatar m tn I ve got severe fatigue, transient bilateral vision loss (Chronic Loss at Night), tremors in my neck and hands, mobility problems in my right leg, memory loss, transient hearing loss, balance problems, sleep paralysis, and severe gain in appetite. When I first saw my eye doctor about my vision loss, my optic nerves were inflamed (this was well before the onset of my other symptoms). I went to my PCP after the other symptoms started.
Avatar m tn I've been having trouble concentrating and thinking through things. It is only until recently that it has become a major problem. I've always been known to have a very good memory accompanied with my ability to think concisely. I've always made straight A's in school and I am now in my second year of college. Although, as this new semester has kicked off, I've been really noticing lack of concentration. I am having trouble reading and comprehending what I read.
