Avatar n tn My inability to move, scream for help, open my eyes while asleep are becoming more frequent. I am really concerned because once I finally awaken, my heart rate is very high and I am starting to have panic attacks after awakening. I realize what is happening but can not "pull out" of my sleep. I am afraid to go to sleep at night now and my husband does not sleep well either because he is worried that I am going to have "sleep paralysis" and wants to be able to wake me up.
Avatar n tn Have you consulted the sleep specialist and is the sleep study done? Do relax and better not to sleep alone. Relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation can be tried for some time and do overcome the stress. You may also keep observing for some more time as it might stop after a few months if you take care of avoiding the triggers and follow a healthy sleep habit as mentioned early. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar m tn t worry there is help and you will start to control it but you have to know what to do....no, you do NOT need Doctors and no you do NOT need any meds...and no you are NOT crazy...there are many people who experience this just like you. Please visit my youtube channgel: InsaniTeesintl or LeoniEwithanE - see my playlist either: 11:11awakening or Conspiracies its in one of those you will find vids called lucid dreams, and so much more on the dream state and how to control it.
Avatar f tn I take that back; I think I had an auditory hallucination last night. The same one twice. I didn't check to see if I could move or not until a few seconds later, though.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, there is no practical way to decipher between normal REM sleep and sleep paralysis. This is because in normal REM sleep you experience the same paralysis as in sleep paralysis; the only difference is your level of consciousness at the time. So there's no way to develop a sensor that an app could use to address this issue. This also may be of interest to you: I have a service dog whose primary task is medical alert.
Avatar m tn It sounds like relaxation, actually.
Avatar n tn what makes sleep paralysis happen? what can i do to reduce the risk of suffering sleep paralysis? what medication is avalible for this disorder? how effective is it? how does it help? i would be very gratefull to hear off you.
Avatar m tn Hi, suffered sleep paralysis for decades now. No voices etc, just paralysis. WHY doesn't the medical world take an interest in this phenomena, which is more common than I think is believed? It is left to the realm of cultural myths, alien abduction theories, generalized medical mumbling about anxiety - the definition of anything they do not understand or think will get them into trouble by not investigating.
Avatar m tn some nights I'd wake up, and be completely paralysed, only able to move my eyes. I wouldnt be able to speak, or move any other part of me. I'd have a great sense of fear, and It'd take a few minutes to come out and back to normal, then I could completely move and everything would be fine again, I'd just be abit shocked as to what just happened, I started to get this more and more, to the point where it was 6-10 times a night..so I cut out ALL caffine.
Avatar n tn It appears that humans have always experienced sleep paralysis and sought to explain it, resulting in well known stories of incubi and succubi--demons thought to sexually attack people in their sleep--as well as related tales from other eras and cultures". http://csicop.
Avatar f tn I believe my habitual abuse substance abuse has triggered my sleep paralysis. I also have sleep apnea depression anxiety paranoia. My don't shows any of this to friends or family. It's more when I'm alone. I've been diagnosed with depression and sleep apnea. I have been clean for quite some time but then to sleep paralysis came into play. And so I don't want to go to sleep. I haven't gotten any help.
Avatar f tn t think it has anything to do with that too. Is it normal to be awake while your body is falling asleep, going into sleep paralysis? And to have also experienced this once in my lifetime? Thought I"m only 25 so far, but the moment I felt my arms tingle and get heavy I started moving them around. my legs did get that feeling a bit but definitely not as much as my arms did. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it in the next couple weeks so I will see what he says.
Avatar n tn Sleep paralysis occurs when you may go to sleep or may tend to wake up from sleep. It is a temporary phenomenon where you are incapable of moving your body or even part of it physically but keep trying to shout loudly or seek someone’s help. It may be lasting for a few seconds to minutes. It can repeat once again if you sleep and there is no physical injury to body, but you will be probably frightened with sweating and increased heart beat with shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn The symptoms you are experiencing could be due to an entity called sleep paralysis. When this happens in sleep the person has difficulty moving his hands or feet. This is the symptom of a sleep disorder called Narcolepsy. This sleep disorder is characterized by excessive day time sleepiness, sleep paralysis, cataplexy where the person has episodes of loss of muscle function while awake, hypnogogic hallucinations and automatic behavior.
Avatar f tn the strength of this command depends on how sure the body is that the mind are sleeping, this depends on how still you lie, if you lie very still the body is almost convinced that the mind is sleeping, and send out a very tiny signal which can easily be ignored by you and result in sleep paralysis with your mind awake, sleep paralysis feels almost like led on top of your body, and can easily be mistaken for someone pushing you against the bed. VERY SCAERY AND UNCOMFTABLE.!!!
1380535 tn?1281986842 You're right in that there's a lot of conflicting information about it. My feeling is that you're probably having frequent obstructions and arousals, which is causing your brain to get confused about which stage of sleep you're in and forgets to turn on your switch that allows you to move your muscles. If you have any degree of sleep-breathing problems, get that treated.
Avatar n tn sometimes i can wake/start breathing by concentrating hard on exhaling. which leads me to believe that it is connected in my case to the sleep apnea which i have also had for quite a while.
