Avatar f tn They are accompanied by sleep paralysis which is difficult to break out of and I often feel panicked as I cannot breathe. I am always, without fail tired when I wake up in the morning regardless of how much sleep I get. I have just come to accept that this is the way that I am. It has been awesome reading that other people also experience these things. I saw the mention of sleep apnea and narcolepsy?

514704 tn?1228312637 I feel you might be probably suffering from a kind of sleep disturbance known to be sleep paralysis, which occurs when you go to sleep or tend to wake up. It is a temporary phenomenon where in you feel incapable of moving your body or part of it physically but keep trying to shout loudly or seek someone’s help. This may last for just a few seconds to minutes and can repeat once again if you sleep.
Avatar f tn Several things could be going on, you could be experiencing night terrors, perhaps brought on by the added stress in your life, or it could be sleep apnea that can cause a variation of different symptoms. If this continues you should seek out advice from a medical provider.

Avatar f tn Hi There, I suffer from this too and have been (on and off) for years now. I, like you, do not see anything but have ALOT of fear that something is in my room trying to kill me. I have spoken to medical professionals and they all say it is either caused by alcohol (or drug) consumption or irregular sleep patterns. I know your pain because I go through this and there is nothing more frightening than it. And, this condition has been documented through history.
Avatar m tn Has his fever gone down how does he seem in himself could he have any tummy pain ? There is such a thing as night terrors ,does he sleep in his own room or is another child sharing, any TV in the room may be on before he goes to sleep. Try having soothing stories and music before bed, no loud or stimulating cartoons .

12594947 tn?1426138835 re inquiring about meds to treat insomnia, early awakening, night terrors, sleep paralysis/hypnagogic hallucinations, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or what? Also, alcohol has no therapeutic use in sleep medicine. In fact, sleep specialists recommend that people wish sleep disorders minimize their alcohol intake, and never drink before bedtime as that can cause a disordered type of sleep (even if it subjectively seems like it's "helping" you sleep).
Avatar m tn My nephew has been on 50mg tremedol and is in the process of weening off but along with expected symptoms he's having horrific night terrors is this normal. He suffers with anxiety and its really worrying as he's convinced he's getting slapped, punched and even that 'something' tried to choke him, he's convinced himself its something other than nightmares and its crucifying to see him like this. has anyone else ever suffered with this?

Avatar f tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Sleep-Disorders/why-do-i-feel-the-contact-of-my-night-terrors/show/1785887">why do i feel the contact of my night terrors?</a> was started.
Avatar m tn That is until I started having my lucid dreams and doing more research in the sleep and dream field. Sleep paralysis is very very common during your teenage years and early 20s. If it continues after that then yes, you could have narcolepsy. However I do not believe it is anything evil.
Avatar f tn Another website also mentioned that sleep paralysis or old hag syndrome can be caused by stress, insomnia, and lack of exercise. So I try to avoid those as much as possible. I also remember fearing for my safety and sanity. I was on the verge of calling my health insurance agent if my situation was covered. I just felt really lost and scared, but I didn't call the agent. I was scared he might think I was going crazy. Anyway, I hope I helped somehow.
568812 tn?1379165794 I have lived with night terrors off & on for many years. I used to think I would die from fright eventually. At this point in my life I have set it aside because there were no answers. I was given a diagnose of PSTD near 10 years ago. The psychologist thought that I had suffered trauma from abuse. That seemed to be as good of an answer as any. At one point I thought it was demonic. All I knew is that it seemed so real and I would keep the lights on.
