Avatar m tn My husband has had the shaking in the middle of the night off and on for about a year. Has any one found out what this is caused by. Could it be stress or low blood sugar. Please reply if you have any answers.
Avatar f tn I had this problem, I would choke on bile in the middle of the night. Finally asked the doctor and they gave me nexium for the acid reflux and reglan for nausea. I haven't had issues since then but I am afraid to stop taking the nexium. Luckily I am almost done.
Avatar n tn Hace a wee bowl.of cereal before bed. Did the trick for me. Im 22 wks now and there are days I want to eat us out house and home so them days I'll have cereal before bed and there's no hunger at night. Not sayin it works for everyone but worth a try!
Avatar n tn The paralysis may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (hypnopompic or hypnagogic) and an acute sense of danger. Sleep paralysis is particularly frightening to the individual because of the vividness of such hallucinations. The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful or dream-like objects may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision.
Avatar n tn Yesterday I finally convinced my husband to sleep in the living room and so she went to bed crying a little but not so bad...in the middle of the night she woke up again crying shouting and screaming but after a while she went back to sleep by herself cause anyone was in her bedroom so she knew she couldn't have anything from anyone. I just went once to reassure her and then I came out quickly not staying too long. Then nothing at all.she slept through and woke up this morning at 9.
Avatar n tn FOR YEARS, I THOUGHT I WAS JUST NUTS. I DIDNT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE. I WILL WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND JUST EAT, HALF THE TIME NOT EVEN REMEMBERING THE NEXT MORNING,UNTIL I SEEN WRAPPERS OR A HALF DRANK GLASS OF MILK BESIDE MY BED... AND IT WAS USUALLY THINGS LIKE DOUGHNUTS, COOKIES, ETC. THINGS I NORMALLY DONT EVEN LIKE DURING THE DAY. ?? I STILL SUFFER WITH THIS PROBLEM, NEVER FOUND ANY RELIEF. DID FIND A COUPLE PEERS ONLINE THAT I TALKED TO, BUT NEVER ANY FIX.
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forums, your symptoms are suggestive of rapid eye movement (REM) related parasomnias involve the intrusion of the features of REM sleep into wakefulness (eg, sleep paralysis). It is a type of sleep disorder. Few of the individuals are known to suffer from parasomnias esp. when they are on non-benzodiazepine sedaives, drug abuse, sexual abuse etc. otherwise no definitive cause exists in few individuals apart from stress, positive past history of abuse etc.
221122 tn?1323011265 I've dreamt before that my heart was terribly out of rhythm and I could feel it doing all sorts of horrible things. Then I would come up out of the dream like I was on a rocket and low and behold, my heart really was acting funky. I will tend to get this when I first fall asleep too - I don't know if I'm getting pauses during that phase of sleep or what, but it's scary and makes for a really bad night's sleep.
Avatar n tn Hi!! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Technically there is nothing wrong with eating in the middle of the night as long as he takes appropriate insulin for the carbs he's eating. Eating in the middle of the night, though, is not the best for your health in general, and that's confirmed by his weight gain. You don't say how much he exercises. I would suggest that you offer to be his workout buddy.
Avatar m tn I have had countless hallucinations in the middle of the night. I go to sleep and then wake up in the middle of the night like normal. Then I see things while I am fully awake and conscous. I talk to people that aren't there and I even try to perform tasks that have to do with my hallucination. They usually are involved with something that is on my mind or something that I have been doing during the day.
Avatar m tn My 18 month old son suddenly woke up in the middle of the night at 2.30am and started crying loudly for apparently no reason. All our attempts to soothe him were in vain. He was neither going to his father or to me and was just running around the house crying loudly and moving aggressively almost in a self destructive method. He kept pointing his fingers in all directions and we gave him everything he pointed at. He would take the object/toy and throw it away and start crying again.
Avatar f tn Almost every night their entire body becomes paralyzed and stays that way most of the night. I think it has to do with low potassium levels. I think the symptoms vary for everyone and also depends on how low the levels are. From what I was told, my uncle could only absorb very little, if any potassium. I hope this helps! Good luck with everything. Keep us posted!!
Avatar m tn The thing that springs to mind is sleep apnea. There are two types: 1) Obstructive - a blockage, typically in the throat, stops you from breathing. This mostly affects overweight people but not always; 2) Central - your brain 'forgets' to tell your diaphragm to move. I think this can happen to anyone but is quite rare. You then wake up.
Avatar f tn he too would wake up in the middle of the night to vomit...sometimes it was just nausea as well..(night time vomiting was less than daytime)...he had every GI test under the sun...so his NS felt confident that it was the Chiari. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Sleep therapy along with sleep hygiene (avoiding caffeine, alcohol and tobacco as well as stress reduction) in due course of time helps the patient get proper night sleep. You should also not read or watch TV while in bed and go to bed only when you feel very sleepy. The other treatment options available are bright light therapy and chronotherapy. Your doctor may advise you some Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which might improve your sleep.
7963483 tn?1406809424 Hey ladies, since I found out that I'm pregnant. I wake up in the middle of the night. Does that happen to any one else?
Avatar f tn Every woman is different. I never got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom until about 29 weeks, but even then I only get up once and then once when I wake up for the day. Some women wake up 5+ times.
Avatar m tn Every night without fail I wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. Often the anxieties of life weigh down on me and I have trouble getting back to sleep. Is there anything I can do to help me sleep straight thru the night?
Avatar f tn Lynn, I was 16 when it first happened. I awoke in the middle of the night and saw a shadowy fugure watching me from the corner of my room..scared me to death. I quickly turned around to turn the light on, spun back around and it was gone. A few weeks later I was sleeping, opened my eyes and there it was again about one inch in front of my face staring at me. Again I spun around to turn the light on, turned back around and it was gone. Similar instances occured throughout high school.
488264 tn?1226520307 I have Narcolepsy and SP is a common factor that I deal with. Sleep Paralysis happens when the brain is kinda disconnected in the order of sleep. Our brain is awake but it puts our body in dream sleep and paralyzes us- once the brain copes with the dysfunction and recconects the proper wires the SP dissapates.
